"Well. This is... more than I expected." Gray blinked in disbelief.
"Welco to your office, Sir." Daniel smiled lightly.
Gray paused at the doorway for a second, quietly taking it in.
The frosted glass had a clean, professional finish, his na on it was etched in silver lettering that caught the light just slightly when he moved. It was surreal. Just weeks ago, he was juggling jobs just to pay rent.
Now? He had a door with his na on it.
Daniel stepped aside, giving him the space to enter first.
Gray continued and pushed the door open.
The office was sleek and modest, just the way he liked it. The walls were painted in soft gray, with one large window along the far side, letting in plenty of natural light. A thick set of blinds was tucked neatly above, ready to be pulled down if he wanted to.
The floor was tiled. In the middle of it, there was a long wooden desk sitting near the window. It looked new and clean. There was nothing on it except for a new laptop, a desktop monitor, and a few organizers on the side that were still empty.
To the right of the room, there was a small seating area with a low coffee table and two cushioned chairs. On the other side, there was a built-in cabinet with a small espresso machine on top and shelves that held files, folders, and a few neatly arranged company binders.
There was even a small potted plant on the desk. Probably just added for a little design.
Gray stepped in further and set his bag down on the desk. He then turned slowly in place, letting himself adjust to the space.
"Not bad," he muttered under his breath. "No. It’s actually too good."
Daniel stood by the door. "If you need anything, Sir. Like extra supplies, furniture changes, or anything, just let know. Mr. Marcus asked to take care of it."
"It’s fine for now," Gray nodded slowly. "Thanks, Daniel."
"Alright, Sir. I will excuse myself first."
"Okay."
As soon as Daniel left, Gray sat down in the leather chair behind the desk. It was surprisingly comfortable. It was one of the best chairs he had sat on.
Just by the feel of it, he could already know that the chair was expensive enough. The whole cost of the furniture in his office must have exceeded his own net worth. He should be careful.
Gray leaned back slightly on the chair. His back touched the soft backrest.
’Damn this is the feels of the rich, huh?’ he muttered, before his eyes turned to the laptop in front of him that was already powered on.
It was still on the lockscreen andbesides it was a post-it paper containing the details of the account for his own account in the office.
He reached for the post-it and peeled it off carefully, scanning the neatly written login credentials. The handwriting was sharp and clean. It seed like it was from Marcus.
Gray typed them in imdiately to the laptop’s keyboard.
The screen loaded with a quiet hum, revealing the dashboard of the company’s internal system. It was neatly organized, with several tabs along the top: Store Performance, Employee Managent, Financial Reports, Internal ssages, Vendor Logs, and a few flagged under Urgent Review.
Gray tilted his head slightly as he stared at the dashboard. "There’s a feature like this?" he muttered, half amused, half annoyed. "Then why the hell did I have to read everything one by one?"
He leaned back in his chair and let out a breath, realization dawning in him slowly soon after.
"Yeah...It must’ve been for to learn the hard way," he said under his breath. "So I’d rember it better."
He chuckled dryly and ran a hand through his hair.
"What a smart move, Marcus. I’ll give you that." He had no complaints either way since it was just right for him to know everything.
Gray closed the laptop gently and stood up. He wandered away from the desk, letting his feet carry him around the office slowly. Now that he wasn’t focused on the screen, he could actually appreciate the space for what it was.
Everything was just... peaceful.
This office was, without a doubt, far nicer than the one back at the grocery store. There was more room to breathe. A proper chair that didn’t creak. A desk that wasn’t cluttered with soone else’s junk.
Still, no matter how nice it was here, Gray’s thoughts kept drifting back to that tiny office in the back of the grocery. He felt like it was his responsibility to correct whatever was happening there for the past months.
And with Henry’s story, it seed like the store had been running like that for a while.
Gray’s expression slowly shifted. Uneasiness surged on his heart. He couldn’t relax. Not fully. Not while that guy was still managing the staff at Riverside.
’Now that I’ve got access to the company system...’ Gray’s fingers tapped lightly against the edge of the coffee table. ’I should take advantage of it.’
If he was going to clean up that branch, he needed to start from the top. He needed to know more that was happening, and while waiting for Marcus to set up the eting with the other employees, then he also needed to move on his own.
’So where will I start?’ Gray frowned.
Maybe it was ti to learn exactly who Will Morris was and his background on the company.
Gray turned back to the desk and opened the laptop again. The screen lit up quickly, still on the dashboard.
He navigated to the Employee Managent tab and opened the search bar.
He typed in the na that he wanted to know about.

After typing, he hit Enter.
