Chapter 1148: Introducing the Cloud-Repelling Device

The next morning, Nathan, Evelyn, and Mae walked to the west gate of the city. On the way, they noticed the people giving so food to the people, but it wasn’t much. There was also not much to do in the town because the economy had collapsed.

At this rate, the city would be destroyed sooner or later. In fact, the sa thing happened to the cities on Gratzel.

However, the Azilia Kingdom had figured out how to handle the problem. Although the economy hadn’t returned to its forr state, it started moving again.

At the base of the economy was Nathan’s cloud-repelling device. This ti, Nathan planned to spread this cloud-repelling device across the continent.

It might allow him to connect with other nobles and utilize their information network. However, his true plan was to strengthen this continent. If this continent lost against the aliens, the attack on Gratzel would be devastating.

Besides, one continent had fallen because it bore the full brunt of the supervolcano’s eruption. The fourth continent’s fate was unknown, but considering the chosen one died, the situation should be quite severe on that continent.

After all, the chosen one was selected by the impact they could make. That person would be either powerful or influential, so if even soone like that died, the continent might fall sooner or later.

Hence, Nathan had to strengthen this continent so that the situation didn’t get worse.

The change would start with the noble lady before him.

Even though he had co pretty early, it was surprising that Alia had been waiting for them. It didn’t look like they had arrived either, considering all the guards they brought had been standing by instead of going around to set up things.

“Good morning, Mr. Nathan. I hope you have a good rest.” Alia politely greeted him.

“Good morning, Lady Alia. I’m sorry for being late.”

“Not at all. I’m just excited today.” Alia shook her head.

“It looks like I can’t really disappoint you.” Nathan smiled.

“I’m looking forward to how you are going to surprise .” Alia chuckled.

“I see. In that case, may I borrow five of your people? I don’t plan for them to do anything special. I just want to show you sothing that even a normal person can do.”

anwhile, there was one more person included in this eting. He was an old man with a long white beard. He had a thin fra but a fierce face, especially with the huge claw mark running from his cheek to his forehead.

He didn’t show any change of expression, but he was observing Nathan and Evelyn. This person sent a secret signal to the manager, confirming Evelyn’s strength.

The manager was startled, not expecting Evelyn to be this strong.

The manager didn’t know what Nathan was planning to show. He couldn’t help but feel suspicious. Unfortunately, with Evelyn next to him, there was no way they could do anything to him. In fact, they would be lucky that Evelyn didn’t decide to kill them.

“Of course. I’d be happy to lend you my people.” Alia nodded and turned to the manager.

The manager imdiately gathered five people according to Nathan’s request.

“May I know what you’re planning to do, Mr. Nathan?” Alia asked.

“I want to show you sothing. But before I show it to you, I would like to ask you sothing. How are you able to provide food to your citizens?”

Alia nodded. “It’s an open secret. His Imperial Majesty has given a direct decree that one strong summoner has to remain in a major city to open up the sky so that the low-level summoners can use their power to make food. Though, we are helped by rchants who sell the food, albeit we usually have to pay a huge price.”

Nathan snapped his fingers. “That’s right. High-level summoner. Let ask you. If a normal person can open up the sky instead of a strong summoner, what will happen?”

Alia thought for a mont. “The strong summoner can do other things. In addition, the cost of farming will decrease as well, unless the thod is even more expensive than hiring a strong summoner.

“Once the food supply has grown stable, the economy will grow.”

Nathan grinned. “And what I’m planning to show you is this…”

The cloud-repelling device ca out of the space bracelet.

“!!!” The soldiers and Alia couldn’t help but take a step back. The high-level summoner behind them raised his guard, scanning the device.

“May I know what this is, Mr. Nathan?” Alia asked.

“I need the cooperation of your soldiers to show you what this device is.” Nathan turned around and pointed to the field. “I need you to carry this device to the open field. Then, one of you needs to press this before this one. Make sure the ground is flat.”

The soldiers hesitated and shifted their gazes to Alia to ask for her confirmation. Since there was no choice, Alia nodded.

The soldiers carefully carried the device. Then, all soldiers except for one moved back because they didn’t want to handle the consequences if it ended up failing.

The soldier who had to do it couldn’t help but tense up. Unfortunately, this was an order. He had no choice but to follow the instructions and press the two buttons in succession.

He could hear the chanism moving inside. Suddenly, the device fired a ball into the sky.

“!!!” Everyone couldn’t help but widen their eyes.

“A catapult? No, it’s even beyond that. It reaches the sky?” The manager gasped.

However, their shock had just begun. The mont it reached the cloud, the ball released ena and blasted open the cloud, revealing the bright morning sky beyond the cloud.

Alia dropped her jaw. “The sky… has opened up?!”

“Impossible.” The high-level summoner was stupefied. It wasn’t supposed to be possible, but the device actually opened up the sky. As Nathan said, the one operating it was a normal soldier.

What if a normal person could open the sky? The answer was obvious. This sincerity might be beyond anything she could offer.
