"So, what are you doing here, Loki?" Odin asked.
"!!!" Nathan widened his eyes. He looked around, wondering where he was. He soon found out that his body was invisible to the point where he couldn’t even figure out his form.
When he looked forward, he could see famous gods from many mythologies.
"That’s Lord Vishnu. The one with the spear should be Odin. There is also a Chinese Emperor... Is that Fuxi... No, is it the Jade Emperor? There is also the winged serpent, Quetzalcoatl. There are more... All of them are a kind of leader in their respective mythologies." Nathan gasped.
"Where am I? Is this a memory? I don’t think it’s my memory."
He wanted to inspect himself a bit more, but the man who had just arrived in the room, the person whom Odin called Loki, had spoken.
Loki looked like a gentleman with long black hair tied into a ponytail. He wore a white shirt with a black blazer along with long black pants, making him look like a noble in the Victorian era.
Nathan furrowed his brow, wondering what was going on.
Loki spread his arms while saying, "We have lost."
"Hah?" All of them became displeased by that one statement.
Lord Vishnu maintained his calm, but he said, "The situation is unfavorable to us, but we don’t know who will win and who will lose. Let’s not give up."
"Please. Look at the situation more clearly." Loki shook his head. "I’m afraid that the enemy already knows about our plan."
"..." They fell silent. All this time, they felt like the enemies were able to see through their plan and somehow countered them.
"What are you trying to say?" Odin asked.
"I am talking about the fact that we won’t be able to turn the situation around because everything originates from that single being. Your thoughts are ing from that being, so it’s normal for us to be ambushed by them."
"..." All of them fell silent.
"I think it’s worth hearing it." Quetzalcoatl nodded.
"Do you have a plan?" Jade Emperor asked.
"I do. It’s not something that you might like to hear, though." Loki nodded.
"Whether we like it or not, we will judge it after hearing everything." Jade Emperor nodded.
"There are among us who have been branded. As long as you haven’t died, your thoughts will be transmitted to them.
"But for now, I’m establishing my illusion so that it will trick the enemy for a moment. After this, those who have been branded will have their memories removed. Still, I will ask for your permission."
"May I know who among us are branded?" Jade Emperor asked.
"Sure." Loki started pointing at people. "You, Jade Emperor, are one of them."
"..." the Jade Emperor fell silent. He didn’t feel upset about the fact that he had been branded. "I see."
"You’re not going to lash out at me?" Loki grinned.
"I don’t know whether you are lying or not, God of Mischief. However, I do know that at least something is wrong with my body." Jade Emperor nodded. "But it doesn’t seem that I’m the only one, right?"
"That’s correct." Loki nodded. "In that case, I will reveal the names. Marduk, Quetzalcoatl, and Vishnu. You three have been branded as well."
None of them looked surprised. After hearing what the Jade Emperor said, they realized that something was wrong with their bodies.
Quetzalcoatl asked, "Well, what is your plan, God of Mischief?"
"My plan is simple. Those who have been branded will need to die. This way, the plans won’t leak. However, dying so easily will make it suspicious. So, we will attack them one more time, killing as many enemies as possible.
"However, there is a need to establish the fight for tomorrow. We may have lost, but future generations can still fight."
"Still, if we die, who can lead the future generations?" Quetzalcoatl asked.
"For that, I have my plan. We will send our world far away from this place, a world where there are no living beings other than them. This will reduce the risk that they’re being found out by those creatures. Don’t you think you can do that, Quetzalcoatl?"
"Well..." Quetzalcoatl closed his eyes. "It looks like I’m going to sin. However, I’d like to hear the rest of the plan first."
"Very well. I have found a world where my plan can work. If we fight our opponent, we will surely be branded. However, there is a way to hide from that power."
"There is a way?" The Jade Emperor raised his eyebrows.
"Yes. We will just have to die, but we need to continue fighting. That’s why I can provide a solution that will allow us to do both. There is a world that allows us to record our own information. Our memory, our strength, and even our resolve.
"We’ll integrate ourselves into that world. Then, we will create a system, a summoning system. This will allow the people in this world to summon us."
"!!!" The Jade Emperor was surprised because of one thing. "But can we even be called alive?"
"That depends on how you interpret it. However, because you will be created anew, their power won’t work on you. Whenever you’re reincarnated, you will bee brand new, so the brand will have to be placed on you again.
"This will give us an opportunity to strike them. There is no retreat. If you survive that fight, it will be impossible to defeat the singularity."
It was true that whether they were alive or not, it would depend on how they interpreted it themselves. If they thought they were real, they were alive. If they thought they were superficial, that meant they were dead.
Jade Emperor thought for a moment before asking, "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"Why are you doing this? From what I’ve heard, you just want to create mischief." The Jade Emperor glanced at Odin.
Loki chuckled before covering his face. A big, sinister grin appeared on his face. "I want to create mischief. It’s just... those creatures think that they’ve already won, and it pisses me off. So, can’t I play with them?"
