"This is the place." Vivian opened the door, noticing that there were already a lot of people waiting.
From a glance, Nathan thought there were more than three hundred people planning to watch it.
The auditorium was quite spacious and seed to be three floors high, able to host a thousand people at once.
Vivian brought him to the front seats.
"Whoa. Professor Vivian. To think you would be here." An old man stood up when he noticed the person who had just co to sit beside him.
"Oh. Professor Kane. Good morning."
"You are with a young man today? Is he your disciple? I think I've heard about a rumor of you taking in a disciple."
"Yes. This is Nathan. He is not a researcher, but he has been assisting with a lot of my projects."
"Really? Your disciple seems to be capable. Hahaha." Kane wasn't that interested in a unique summoner, so he didn't know Nathan was the unique summoner. "Do you know that Professor lissa will be the one coming up first?"
"NO." Vivian snorted while looking away.
Kane simply shrugged. That expression alone made him realize he had ntioned sothing wrong.
In the end, there was only an awkward silence between them until the conference began.
lissa and Ricardo took the stage. They didn't bring anything other than themselves.
lissa wrote the title of the research on the blackboard.
[Extension of Summoner Link.]
"As you probably know, or more like so of you might be frustrated about the range of your link with your familiars.
"After all, there is a limit to how far your familiars will be able to go with you as the center. As a result, when we're fighting against aliens from all directions, we tend to focus on our distance to avoid the familiars disappearing all of a sudden and disrupting the formation.
"As such, I have invented a magic circle that allows you to boost your range by 20%. I think it'll be easier for to show this to you."
When the people heard the extension, the people couldn't help but be surprised.
"Oh!? An extension of 20%?"
"As expected of Professor lissa. She doesn't disappoint."
"If my limit is 100 ters (328 feet) right now, I will be able to extend it by 20 ters (65 feet), huh? That's extrely useful. And the higher your limit is, the more effective this invention is."
Vivian couldn't help but furrow her eyebrows. "Do you have a problem with your range, Nathan?"
Vivian looked uncomfortable when she was asking that question. It was as if she was worried Nathan had a problem. For Nathan, she would be willing to beg even the annoying lissa for this invention. Find more adventures on empire
Fortunately, Nathan said, "I never really have a problem with my range. Well, my range is 500 ters. Besides, I think Fenrir once told about the extension of the summoning link that can be done by the familiars themselves."
"Really?" Vivian looked shocked.
"Mhmm." Nathan nodded. "Well, I can tell you the details later. And that's basically how my familiars are able to have a huge range."
"Sure."
lissa stepped aside. "This is my disciple, Ricardo. His range is 20 ters (65 feet). He will be summoning his familiar, and of course, I will be responsible for the people's safety, so please don't worry about it. But after imparting the magic circle…"
Ricardo summoned his familiar. The familiar moved farther away from him. It was basically from one corner of the room to another. However, before his familiar could reach the end of the room, he disappeared.
"As you can see, the familiar disappears. Then…" lissa took out a brush. "Allow to inscribe the magic circle for the extension."
She lifted up the back of his shirt and skillfully drew the magic circle. Every stroke was precise and quick.
In just five minutes, she had finished. "Please activate the magic circle while your familiars are moving."
Ricardo nodded and tested it. And this ti, even when his familiars reached the edge of the room, the familiars didn't disappear.
"This…" The people looked shocked.
lissa, of course, knew about one thing. Before they were saying it, she imdiately continued, "If you still don't believe and think that my disciple's range is higher than what I claid, I don't mind if there are three people who are willing to volunteer. I will inscribe the magic circle on your body. To avoid making you think I'm bluffing, you are allowed to pick soone you can trust to be not lying to volunteer."
"Tsk. Idiot." Vivian clicked her tongue. "As hateful as she is, she has never lied when it's about research."
So people volunteered. All of them were just newbie summoners because their range could easily be asured. And they could demonstrate it within the room.
And they ended up proving the effectiveness of the magic circle.
"This is surprising. The extension magic circle is extrely useful," one professor said.
"Indeed. People have been working on this topic for so long, but to think that lissa is truly able to extend it by 20%."
"It seems there's an ancient pattern in her inscription."
The people discussed her magic circle. So even asked her a few questions, which she skillfully answered.
After a long discussion, not being able to find any flaws in lissa's research, they finally stopped.
Still, Nathan was quite surprised that despite her attitude toward her, she never raised her hand a single ti. It was as if she knew lissa would be able to answer all her questions.
lissa smiled sweetly before politely bowing her head. "And that's all for . If you need my help to inscribe this rune, you can co to my shop."
She was greeted by a standing ovation.
With her walking down the stage, the people started to discuss her research.
"To think that she will be able to succeed… She might end up getting another title next year."
"I know, right? She is such a perfect woman."
Vivian looked annoyed, especially after she noticed that lissa was sneaking a glance at her and smiling to provoke her.
Vivian said, "We should get ready, Nathan. I'm sure you understand your part, right?"
"Yes." Nathan chuckled at their relationship.
