This wolf at feast left everyone’s stomachs bulging, with cries of satisfaction.
Yang Xiao filled a large basin with wolf at and stepped out of the cave dwelling into the Genetic Store.
Gu Bo was bustling behind the counter with a few vials of Genetic Potion when suddenly he caught the scent of the wolf at, and his nostrils flared:
"Such a tempting aroma of wolf at!"
Looking up, Yang Xiao had already approached the counter and placed the basin of wolf at in front of him.

And so, the two began a ga of Go in the hall of the Genetic Store.
"What’s the origin of that Snow Wolf, and why did so many suddenly appear?"
Yang Xiao inquired.
Gu Bo smiled and said:
"You need to broaden your view. Nowadays, all creatures on Earth are undergoing evolution. Those that evolve quickly will not confine themselves to their forr territories but will expand from where they originated. Take these Snow Wolves, for instance; perhaps they ca from the distant snow plains of Divine Mountain.
Additionally, as creatures evolve, their intelligence also increases. Humans are no longer the rulers of Earth. There may co a day when you’ll find that wolves or so other Mutated Creatures have taken over."
Yang Xiao was taken aback. Animals reproduced much faster than humans; for instance, a female wolf could give birth to a litter of pups once a year, reproducing at several tis the rate of humans.
And the reproduction rate of other Mutated Creatures was even faster, like rats. A mature female rat could breed about every twenty days, with each litter ranging from six or seven to a dozen offspring. Young rats matured in two to three months to breeding age.
Before winter set in, Yang Xiao had already hunted a fifty-pound Mutated rat on the mountain.
Gu Bo’s words served as a stark warning to Yang Xiao that if human evolution lagged, they could potentially be overtaken by other species.
Gu Bo smiled slightly and added:
"Don’t worry too much. After all, humans are the smartest of all creatures. Even if our evolution is slow for now, we’ll find other ways to speed it up later. Besides, isn’t the Genetic Store here to help?"
Yang Xiao listened and felt reassured. Although he was not clear about the background and purpose of the Genetic Store, it indeed provided a trendous support for human evolution, including the synthesis of Genetic Potions, equipnt, and Skill Cultivation thods, and so on.
After playing Go with Gu Bo for two hours, and with the sudden arrival of the Snow Wolves, Yang Xiao needed to make preparations in the cave dwelling, so he left early.
Stepping out of the Genetic Store, as usual, Yang Xiao tied two wooden boards to the soles of his shoes to serve as sleds. As he stepped onto the thick snow, he noticed that it didn’t seem as soft as before; it had beco sowhat harder.
Yang Xiao squatted down and touched the snow, confirming it had hardened a bit.
He suddenly rembered that it hadn’t snowed all day, and the faraway sky was a shade of gray-white, still without sunlight.
"Could the harsh winter have passed?"
When Yang Xiao returned to the cave dwelling, the two heavy iron doors were already halfway closed, earlier than usual as they were typically shut after dark.
Back inside the dwelling, Zhao Gang said:
"Boss, since you’re back, I’ll let the guys close the big door. Who knows when those Snow Wolves might burst out, just in case."
"Mm."
Yang Xiao nodded.
Xiao Zhe, Huang Wen, and Zhao Gang had already arranged for the night watch for this evening, with one person standing guard above the entrance of each of the two cave dwellings, alternating every 2 hours, from dusk until dawn when the alert is lifted.
A group of four Electric Mages took turns standing guard at the entrance of the two cave dwellings, rotating every 4 hours. In case of an attack alarm, all Electric Mages must imdiately co to join the battle.
Arrangents were made for everyone else as well.
Over an hour later, Xu Nanqiang and the logistics team prepared dinner, which was grilled wolf at. It had a different flavor compared to stewed wolf at.
After nightfall, Zhao Gang had several thick iron pipes placed against the iron door and shook them by hand, feeling reassured once he felt they were secure.

The iron door of the cave dwelling entrance was bent out of shape by so force, looking like it was about to collapse.
Four Electric Mages desperately unleashed electric arcs, and arcs of electricity danced over the iron door. However, the banging from outside continued relentlessly, and the door vibrated violently from the relentless assault.
Shortly after, twenty Electric Mages also rushed over to join and direct their electric arcs towards the iron door, but it was still ineffective. The door continued to suffer violent impacts and was on the brink of collapsing.

Yang Xiao then shot several more arrows swiftly, taking down three Snow Wolves in succession.
Those Snow Wolves that were ready to throw rocks finally realized the danger and retreated more than ten ters away.
