Of course, the bureau paid a certain price, but this was sothing done in the shadows and can't be discussed openly.
Hearing these two people agree to go to Lu's bureau, the leader, Lu Guan, felt relieved as though a great burden was lifted. After all, once they're at the bureau, it's like lambs entering a tiger's den; once they're on their turf, isn't it entirely up to them how things proceed?
Thus, the officer agreed wholeheartedly and courteously invited Jiang Cheng and Yanran onto the spaceship. Since Jiang Cheng had damaged one of the ships, the rest of the officers had to run back.
As a result, Harry Planet's residents saw a group of officers guarding a police spaceship, making them wonder if so significant figure had arrived, warranting such a grand scene.
The atmosphere in the investigation bureau was tense because Director Lu Cha was furiously scolding two aliens who were so boldly on their turf, not only ruining a spaceship but also injuring several officers. Most crucially, they even broke the hand fan that belonged to his little informant. The thought of going ho to face his father's stern face made him particularly annoyed.
These two reckless aliens, he would make sure they wouldn't leave without severe consequences.
Now, these two people sat before him at his desk as if nothing had happened.
Good! Very good! The director gritted his teeth and thought darkly, you may be arrogant now, but in a while, I'll have you crying out for rcy!
Jiang Cheng and Yanran watched the expression on Director Lu Cha's face change constantly, gaining so insight into what he was thinking. But it didn't matter to them. Such a small-ti director, be it in rank or power, was nothing they paid mind to.
Thus, they also acted calmly, watching Director Lu Cha pace back and forth in front of them, visibly anxious.
Director Lu Cha was awaiting news from soone in the Dark World.
From ancient tis, so police officers lacking professional ethics would collude with people from the Dark World, conspiring together, like snakes sharing the sa pit.
The director of the investigation bureau on Harry Planet took this approach to an extre degree.
Whenever he faced issues he could not resolve, he would enlist help from those in the Dark World. Eventually, he even tacitly allowed this gang special privileges typically reserved for police, such as arresting and interrogating people at will. Within their organization, they even set up a prison.
All this was openly concealed, and many ordinary citizens who rely found their actions disagreeable and voiced so criticism would consequently be imprisoned by the Dark World folks.
What seed like a small matter turned grave, as the prison was dark and sunless, combined with the cruelty of the Dark World inhabitants, those who entered often never had another chance to co out.
"Bang," the door was pushed open, hitting the wall with a sound.
This bold act did not anger Director Lu Cha; rather, from his expression, he seed quite delighted.
No one in Lu's investigation bureau dared act so recklessly, especially in front of him—except the people he had been waiting for: those from the Dark World.
At this mont, Director Lu Cha nearly dashed forward as though welcoming the arrival of stars.
"What's so urgent?" A person with a calm voice opened his mouth: "I have matters on my end to attend to."
"Behold, look, these two aliens ca to our place and are quite unruly. They've not only injured our people but also wrecked our transport spaceship," the director explained to that person.
"Oh? I really must see who these formidable folks are!"
Harry Planet's Director Lu Cha and the Dark World person colluded together, engaging them for any troubles or inconvenient issues, giving both sides certain benefits.
Thus, as Director Lu Cha faced Jiang Cheng and Yanran this ti, he employed the sa thod. As he anxiously awaited, he finally t his intended guest, which bolstered his resolve and hardened his tone.
Evidently, though Director Lu Cha and the Dark World person appeared to be partners on the surface, in reality, Lu Cha was deferentially subordinate, wholly obeying him.
Though a local official, he behaved with such flattery and servility, it truly showed him to be contemptible.
The person from the Dark World turned toward Jiang Cheng and Yanran.
He looked extrely ordinary; if not for the occasional ominous glint in his eyes, he could easily be forgotten in a crowd. He was a person who would disappear if placed among a group.
Yet seeing this seemingly ordinary person, Director Lu Cha had to nod and grovel.
"Is it them?" After glancing at Jiang Cheng and Yanran, the person pointedly asked the director beside him.
"Yes, it's them, causing trouble around Harry Planet!" The director venomously remarked to the side: "If we don't punish them appropriately, we can't establish our authority!"
"There's no need for you to worry about that!" The person curtly denied the director's opinion.
"For now, prepare a spaceship to send these two over to my place." He urged Director Lu Cha: "Try not to let anyone know they ever appeared in your bureau."
Director Lu Cha hurried out, thrilled at the thought these unrepentant people might suffer abuse, or even death, at the hands of that man, feeling an indescribable joy.
The man then sat down, posturing sincerely: "I hold no malice toward you two. I have no concern for your actions," he gestured with his hands, adding, "even if you not only injured them but eliminated them entirely, I wouldn't care."
He leaned forward, lowering his voice, "Since you two are quite capable, I have a task I'd like you to handle for ."
He then reclined in his seat again, saying, "I repeat my earlier words, I bear no hostility; however," his tone shifted, "if you do not heed , the director will issue a universal order, and wherever you flee, Lu's investigation agents will relentlessly pursue you."
"But if we cooperate, I guarantee you won't face such matters," he emphasized his speech; "And if you successfully help with this, afterward, you'll go your way, I'll go mine, and I will reward you handsoly."
The Dark World man's words truly caught Jiang Cheng and Guo Ran off guard. They had originally planned to see what ans this person, who could make the investigation director grovel, employed, yet they hadn't expected him to be so amiable.
Of course, Jiang Cheng would definitely not be fooled by his speech, but to further discern his objective, Jiang Cheng took on the role of "feigning dullness to catch a tiger."
