"Xu Yun?"
Xu Yun and Chen Xin both froze for a mont and turned to look.
"I can’t believe it’s really you."
The woman looked at Xu Yun, then glanced at Chen Xin—a different woman than the one he was with last ti—and smiled. "I thought my eyes were playing tricks on ."
Seeing that the woman was an acquaintance of Xu Yun, Chen Xin gave an awkward smile and said, "Xu Yun, you two talk. I’ll head back first."
"Okay," Xu Yun acknowledged.
Watching Chen Xin hurry away, the woman smiled aningfully. "President Xu is never short on beautiful won."
"You’re too kind, President Liang."
Xu Yun looked at Liang Yan, who was dressed in a sexy gown, and smiled. "I didn’t expect to run into you here. It seems we’re really fated to et."
"Quite fated, indeed."
Liang Yan asked, "So, how are they? Are the pastries here any good?"
"Uh, they’re alright."
As he spoke, Xu Yun casually picked one up and offered it to her. "Want to try one? I notice none of you are eating."
"Thank you."
Liang Yan took it and took a delicate bite. "You know, it’s actually pretty good."
"They are good, right? I think so too."
Liang Yan smiled and teased, "You didn’t co to this reception just to freeload on the food, did you?"
"How did you know?"
Xu Yun replied matter-of-factly, "I didn’t eat enough for dinner, so I ca to grab a bite. What about you?"
"Sa here. I snuck in to freeload on the drinks."
Liang Yan swirled the cocktail in her hand. "Free booze just tastes better."
In reality, she had paid a fair bit of money to get into this reception.
She had co today to try her luck and find soone to pull in an investnt, but after approaching a few people, nothing had co of it.
Just as she was starting to feel dejected, she had unexpectedly spotted Xu Yun eating pastries.
Liang Yan was genuinely surprised.
’I had no idea Xu Yun had such extensive financial connections in Shanghai.’
After all, this reception was attended by elites from the financial world; many executives from venture capital and investnt funds were present.
Xu Yun wasn’t a fool. He might genuinely have been hungry and co for the pastries.
But there was no way Liang Yan was here just for a few cocktails.
Although Xu Yun didn’t know the exact purpose of this reception, he had overheard snippets of conversation while weaving through the crowd and eating. Most of it was about finance and investnt.
So he guessed it was most likely a networking event for the financial industry.
"Well, enjoy your drink, President Liang."
Xu Yun smiled. "I’m full now, so I’m planning to slip out before the host finds ."
"Take with you."
Liang Yan had no intention of letting him go. She said directly, "It’s not often we run into each other, and I’m finding this place a bit boring too. Why don’t we go find sowhere else to chat?"
"Alright. It would be a sha to turn down an invitation from a beautiful woman."
Xu Yun said, "My room happens to be next door. Shall we?"
"Sure." Liang Yan was no naive young girl; she felt no fear and agreed without the slightest hesitation.
A man inviting a woman to his room at night was a test in itself.
He hadn’t expected her to agree so readily.
This surprised Xu Yun a little, but it also seed to make sense.
And when Liang Yan heard that Xu Yun was staying in the adjacent hotel, her desire to work with him grew even more urgent.
’After all, the hotel’s top floor only had four suites, none of which were ever open to the public.’
’For Xu Yun to be staying here was a demonstration of power in itself.’
’What Liang Yan lacked most right now was a powerful partner. She was in desperate need of money—a lot of money!’

Liang Yan asked curiously, "Is this your new girlfriend? Are you not with the one from the bank anymore?"
"I didn’t realize you were such a gossip, President Liang."
Xu Yun didn’t answer. Instead, he said, "Co on, let’s go sit on the balcony. The night view is nice."
"Okay."
Liang Yan stepped onto the balcony and stared at the infinity pool before them in amazent. "I can’t believe you have a place like this. President Xu, you really know how to live."
"If you like it, you can go for a swim."
"I’ll pass. I’m not a very good swimr. What if I accidentally..."
Liang Yan was only halfway through her sentence when she seed to misstep, lost her balance, and fell directly into the pool.
Fortunately, the pool wasn’t deep. Liang Yan flailed in the water for a few monts, but seeing that Xu Yun had no intention of saving her, she gave up the act.
She floated to the edge, resting her arms on the side, and shot Xu Yun a reproachful look. "Do you always just stand by and watch when you see a woman fall into the water?"
"The water is shallow. You can’t drown."
Xu Yun said aningfully, "Besides, I was under the impression President Liang fell in on purpose."
"You n are all so bad."
Liang Yan extended a delicate hand, sighing with a smile. "You could at least help up, couldn’t you?"
"No problem."
Xu Yun stood at the edge and reached out to take Liang Yan’s hand. Before he could even start to pull, she yanked him straight into the pool.
"Hahaha..."
Liang Yan laughed bewitchingly. "Now President Xu is all wet too."

Dripping wet, Xu Yun glanced at Liang Yan, slightly annoyed.
Liang Yan’s dress was now soaked. The top half had slipped partway down, while the rest clung tightly to her body, showcasing her sexy figure to perfection.
’I rember the last ti I saw such a wet-look seduction was with Su Mu in the kitchen.’
