After sleeping all afternoon, there was no way he could sleep again tonight.
Xu Yun decided to go out and have so fun.
Just as he was wondering what to do, Yan Can called, inviting him to a bar.
’He said it was to hang out, but he’s probably just going to ask about the project again.’
’This friend of mine is just anxious to prove himself.’
Xu Yun agreed and drove right over. Just as he was leaving his residential complex, he suddenly saw a familiar face in a security guard’s uniform.
He thought he was seeing things, so he stopped the car. After a closer look—holy crap—it was really Li Jinshu’s brother, Li Yonghua.
"So you really ca all this way to be a security guard, huh?"
Li Yonghua looked at the familiar face in the car and said angrily, "Xu Yun, you tricked ! My sister doesn’t even live here anymore. I haven’t seen her once this whole ti."
"Well, I guess you’re just unlucky."
Xu Yun smiled. "Put a little more heart into it, be more observant, and maybe you’ll find her."
"You..."
Li Yonghua was about to curse him out, but Xu Yun cut him off with a reminder. "Watch your attitude. I’d be careful if I were you; I could file a complaint."
"I..." Li Yonghua was suddenly at a loss for words, fuming but not daring to say anything more.
"See? That’s more like it."
Xu Yun said mockingly, "Well then, you do a good job keeping our community safe. I’ll be on my way."
Li Yonghua watched the sports car disappear into the night and spat on the ground in anger.
’It wasn’t that he couldn’t afford to curse him out; it just wasn’t worth the trouble.’
’A single complaint from a resident while he was on duty ant a 300-yuan deduction from his pay! Not worth it.’
He had started to regret his decision after getting the security guard job and not seeing Li Jinshu for two straight days.
He’d thought about quitting, but then he’d rember the salary of over 5,000 yuan a month for doing basically nothing, plus a quarterly bonus, and he would hesitate.
His mom’s salary wasn’t low either—three to four thousand yuan a month just for cleaning one or two of the buildings.
Between the two of them, they were making almost 10,000 a month. The pay was much better than most jobs back in their hotown.
What’s more, the company provided free room and board, so they could get by without spending a di.
So, the two of them decided to stay for the ti being, working while they figured out their long-term plan.
As long as they stayed in Jiangcheng, they were bound to find Li Jinshu sooner or later.
anwhile, Li Jinshu hadn’t been back to the complex since returning from Jianghuai County.
She knew Gong iping and Li Yonghua were lying in wait for her there, so she had been staying at Ning Qian’s ho instead.
During the day, she supervised the construction and renovation at her fitness center. At night, she ate dinner with Ning Qian and binge-watched TV shows.
Su Mu and Yu Xuan were busy filming a short drama series, so their schedules were erratic. They would sotis visit but never stayed the night.
Xu Yun arrived at a bar he’d never been to before. It didn’t look very large from the outside, but the entrance was lined with luxury cars.
His three-million-yuan Bentley Continental didn’t seem particularly special here.
The valet at the entrance imdiately ca over, opened the car door, and smoothly took the keys from Xu Yun’s hand to park it for him.
Another doorman held the main door open, ushering him inside. With a slight bow and a smile, he asked, "Sir, do you have a reservation?"
"Yan Can invited ." Hearing the guest refer to Young Master Yan by his given na, the attendant knew this was soone important.
"Right this way, sir. Please follow ."
The attendant led Xu Yun to a booth and announced, "Young Master Yan, your guest is here."
"Alright, you can go."
Yan Can gestured for Xu Yun to sit, then smiled. "Brother Xu, if I didn’t call you, you’d never think to ask out, would you?"
"I haven’t been in Jiangcheng lately. I went back ho for a bit."
Xu Yun replied with a laugh, "I just got back tonight, and here you are, summoning already."
"What do you think of the place? A friend of mine owns it."
"It’s great."
Xu Yun subconsciously glanced around. The interior was spacious, but there were surprisingly few booths.
The decor was exquisite, and the whole atmosphere—from the privacy to the comfort—was a world away from the typical bars outside.
It wasn’t overly loud; it was genuinely a place for drinking and conversation.
The main thing that caught his attention, however, was the singer on stage. She looked vaguely familiar, as if he’d seen her sowhere before.
Noticing Xu Yun staring at the female singer on stage, Yan Can asked with a grin, "You’re a fan of her music too, Brother Xu?"
"Not really, she just looks a little familiar."
"She’s a friend of mine. Music is her hobby."
Yan Can asked suggestively, "What do you think, Brother Xu? Interested?"
"Who doesn’t like a beautiful woman?"
"Then you’ll have to put in so effort."
Yan Can laughed. "Don’t let her gentle singing fool you. In private, she’s a little firecracker—completely wild."
"What do you an?"
"You’ll find out in a minute."
As the song ended, the woman on stage set down her guitar and walked straight over to their booth.
She had flax-colored, ear-length hair, delicate features, and clear eyes. Her figure was slender and well-proportioned. She wore a loose-fitting black T-shirt, one shoulder peeking out, her skin as white as snow.
She smiled as she sat down across from Xu Yun, then looked at Yan Can and asked, "So this is the friend you were telling about? He’s pretty handso."
"That’s right. This is my Brother Xu."
Yan Can then made the introduction to Xu Yun. "Brother Xu, this is my college classmate, Xino."
"Hi, Xino." Xu Yun greeted her with a smile.
’That’s the first ti I’ve ever heard that surna,’ he thought.
"Just call Nuomi."
Without wasting any words, Xino grabbed a bottle, filled her own glass to the brim, and then filled Xu Yun’s. "Do you drink?" she asked.
"A little."
"Then bottoms up."
With that, she raised her glass and downed it in one go, her eyes fixed on Xu Yun.
Seeing this, Xu Yun drained his glass in one gulp as well.
’Fuck, that stuff burns!’
