Lin Feng’s assertive attitude made Liu Changhong lose so composure, but his veteran wits kicked in, making him wonder if Lin Feng’s arrogant tone suggested he had a powerful background.
"Shall we take this sowhere private?" Liu Changhong glanced at the surrounding crowd and said dispassionately, "Family affairs shouldn’t beco public spectacles."
Lin Feng glanced at Su Zi and Ning Aoxue and nodded in agreent.
Liu Changhong, Li Jiawei, and Lin Feng, along with four others, making a party of seven, walked into a private room in the Ninth Heaven restaurant. Once seated, they formally began their conversation.
"Not many youngsters dare talk to like that, impressive!" Liu Changhong managed a forced smile and asked, squinting his eyes, "Who might you be, young man?"
Liu Yu quickly interjected to answer his question.
"Daddy, he’s just that woman’s bodyguard; he couldn’t possibly have any status..." Liu Yu pointed at Ning Aoxue and whispered petulantly in Liu Changhong’s ear.
"A bodyguard? Just a bodyguard?" Liu Changhong looked sowhat surprised. So this man is just a brute? Perhaps he doesn’t even know who I am?
Bodyguard? Is that supposed to be sothing insulting nowadays? I’m guarding two great beauties. I bet many would envy ! Lin Feng slightly curled his lip, choosing not to answer Liu Changhong’s question.
"Yes, Mr. Liu, Lin Feng is my bodyguard." Seeing Lin Feng brush Liu Changhong aside, Ning Aoxue couldn’t help but frown and add, addressing Liu Changhong gravely.
"Who might you be, beauty?" Catching sight of Ning Aoxue, Liu Changhong’s eyes brightened, his tone considerably softened.
"I’m Ning Fuxun’s daughter," Ning Aoxue murmured.
"Ah, so you’re Brother Ning’s daughter..." Liu Changhong furrowed his brows. Of course, he knew Ning Fuxun, having even t the man at so economic forums. He even had Ning Fuxun’s contact saved in his mobile.
"Mr. Liu, what do you believe is the best course of action regarding this matter?" Though Ning Aoxue had a strong distaste for Liu Yu, she needed to confront Liu Changhong diplomatically about resolving the issue. After all, Lin Feng had offended the Liu Corporation.
Of course, Ning Aoxue was only concerned about causing trouble for the Ning Family, not that she was afraid of confrontation herself. Attempting to curry favor with Liu Changhong was not within her considerations.
"I have a rudintary understanding of what transpired; both are just youthful and hot-blooded." Liu Changhong decided to give Ning Aoxue, or rather Ning Fuxun, so face, giving Lin Feng a sidelong glance before saying indifferently, "Alright, have your bodyguard bow and apologize to Little Yu, and we’ll call it quits. I won’t pursue the matter."
In Liu Changhong’s view, he was already giving Ning Aoxue face. He saw Lin Feng much as Liu Yu did—as nothing more than a servant. Ignoring their master’s face and offending others was a major taboo.
"Daddy, are you bullying as well..." Liu Yu pouted and expressed her dissatisfaction to Liu Changhong. In her mind, at least a couple of slaps on Lin Feng’s face were necessary for her to let off steam. What was the point of a hollow apology?
"Little Yu, don’t be childish..." Liu Changhong admonished Liu Yu sternly, before turning to Lin Feng and asking indifferently, "What’s your take, lad?"
Ning Aoxue actually considered an apology a feasible solution. A re apology could prevent offending the Liu Family, which would be good news for the Ning Family. However, she knew Lin Feng’s temperant wouldn’t allow him to bow his head. An involuntary bitterness surfaced on her face. More importantly, she couldn’t possibly bring herself to ask this of Lin Feng.
"I say, it would be more fitting if that little girl apologized to Lin Feng. I’ve never seen such an ill-mannered young lady..." Even before Lin Feng could answer, Su Zi, sitting next to him, chuckled lightly and spoke.
"How dare you say I’m ill-mannered!" Liu Yu’s voice rose several decibels. After throwing Su Zi a resentful look, she rembered her father was right beside her and imdiately appealed tearfully, "Daddy, you have to stand up for ! They’re all bullying ! Look, they’re still saying nasty things about to my face!"
Liu Changhong was getting quite annoyed. He had urgent matters to deal with, like discussing potential investnt locations with Li Jiawei. His daughter’s petty squabbles had left the mayor’s secretary neglected for quite so ti. If this dragged on any longer, he feared it would leave a bad impression on Li Jiawei.
"Since you all believe you’re in the right, I should discuss this with Brother Ning!" Liu Changhong’s expression darkened as he pulled out his mobile phone from his pocket, quickly scrolling through to find Ning Fuxun’s number.
"Hello, Little Liu? What brings you to call ? Can it be you’ve co to Jiangzhou? You must allow to display the hospitality of a landlord." Ning Fuxun’s hearty laughter echoed from the receiver, putting Liu Changhong, sowhat relieved, at ease. At least the elder knew how to show respect.
"Brother Ning, I’m with my daughter, face to face with your precious child!" Liu Changhong said with a wry smile. "However... my daughter was bullied by your daughter’s bodyguard."
"What did you say? What’s all this?"
"Soone assaulted her, and my poor girl suffered quite a bit... Heh, Brother Ning, it seems your Jiangzhou landlord status holds true to its na!" Liu Changhong laughed dryly, his words sharply insinuating that Ning Fuxun’s absolute control over Jiangzhou allowed his daughter to let her bodyguard harm others.
"You jest, Little Liu. How could such a thing happen? Who would dare?" From the receiver, Ning Fuxun’s laughter grew a bit strained.
"It’s the bodyguard accompanying Miss Ning, a youngster nad Lin Feng." Liu Changhong’s face displayed a hint of smugness, thinking Ning Fuxun was finally caving in, and he began to badmouth Lin Feng. "In my opinion, a youngster like that is too hot-tempered. I’m afraid he’s really not suitable to be Miss Ning’s bodyguard. What’s your opinion, Brother Ning?"
"Lin Feng?! Hmm, Little Liu, please rest assured! I’m aware of the situation and will handle it! How about this: I’ll send soone to take you and your daughter sowhere to rest. I’m really sorry, but I have an important eting to attend now. When it’s over tonight, I’ll co and treat you both to a dinner to apologize, alright?... Oh, okay, Secretary Chen, I’m on my way. Let the shareholders start discussing the proposal." Ning Fuxun seed genuinely busy and abruptly hung up the phone.
What’s this? Is he brushing off? Hearing Ning Fuxun hang up without waiting for him to finish, Liu Changhong’s face turned exceptionally grim.
Lin Feng, whose hearing was exceptional, had heard the entire conversation between Ning Fuxun and Liu Changhong and couldn’t help chuckling to himself. Ning Fuxun truly is a cunning old fox! He knew I was protecting his daughter, yet he pretended to be busy and disregarded Liu Changhong... That’s true loyalty!
"I believe there must be so misunderstanding here! Mr. Liu, there’s no need to rush. Let’s try to understand the whole situation first! Looking at young Lin Feng, he doesn’t seem like the kind of rash youth who’d engage in unprovoked violence."
The mayor’s secretary, Li Jiawei, suddenly spoke up calmly. Yet, his stance, surprisingly, was to defend Lin Feng from the start. This was like a bucket of cold water poured over Liu Changhong, who was still seething.
