Xia Shiyi was brimming with confidence.
She just knew it—how could Young Master Ou not like her when she was this beautiful!
One day, she swore, she would beco Ou Jue’s rightful girlfriend.
-
Xia Xiyan ran out, her heart a swirling ss.
Losing to Xia Shiyi—it left such a bitter taste in her heart!
So upsetting!
With her hands clasped behind her back, Xiyan angrily kicked at the ground.
A cool, mocking voice ca from the side, "Are you trying to dig a hole here and bury yourself?"
Huh?
Xiyan raised her head in surprise, only to see Ou Jue leaning casually against the wall with his arms crossed. That annoyingly handso face of his, as always, scread "punch ."
...This jerk—every single thing he says is just as unpleasant as ever.
"I’m going to dig a hole and bury you in it!"
Ou Jue’s lips tugged into a faint smirk. "You think I’d fall into your trap? You think I’m as dumb as you?"
"Hey, I’m warning you—I’m in a really bad mood right now. You’d better not provoke , or I really will dig a hole and throw you into it!"
"Oh? Go ahead and try."
The lightness in his tone carried an unmistakable edge of nace—what’s with that?
Was Ou Jue so kind of Demon King?
Xiyan had been fuming internally, but in that mont, her bluster faltered a bit. Lowering her head, she mumbled under her breath, "Hmph, if you piss off enough, I’ll dig a hole, bury myself, and then fra you for it..."
Ou Jue’s lips curled slightly, almost imperceptibly. Since when did this woman’s monts of retreat bring him so much amusent?
He took a step forward, closing in.
"What are you doing... You—you stay back!"
Xiyan retreated step by step, until her back pressed against the trunk of a tree, leaving her nowhere to run.
She froze, wide-eyed.
Ou Jue stopped just a few centiters away from her. The springti sunlight was notably gentle and warm.
The breeze rippled through the leaves, making a soft rustling sound...
The light filtered through the branches, leaving dappled patterns as it fell onto Ou Jue’s strikingly handso face, casting a soft, golden glow.
His impeccable black uniform was spotless, and the tie of his crisp white shirt fluttered ever so slightly in the wind.
At that mont, he was breathtakingly beautiful...
Ou Jue leaned in, lowering himself to et her eyes. His voice was raspy and low, "Why’s your mood so sour, hmm?"
Xiyan was surrounded by the overpowering scent of his masculine presence.
Thump, thump—
She could clearly hear the sound of her heartbeat, so strong and growing faster and faster.
Wait, could it be... that Ou Jue was actually showing concern for her?
Xiyan panicked. She hurriedly tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, only for Ou Jue to suddenly grab her wrist.
He arched a brow slightly. "Are you nervous?"
Xiyan’s small face turned bright pink as her cover was blown. "Who’s nervous?! I’m not nervous at all!"
Ou Jue leaned in closer, his face only inches away. Through the thick lenses of his glasses, he could see her clear, wide eyes—those eyes, so transparent and pure, were now filled with obvious panic.
"Xia Xiyan, you’re terrible at lying."
"It’s your fault for saying all these weird things out of nowhere!"
"Don’t tell ... you thought I was worried about you?" Ou Jue’s lips curved into a devilishly mischievous smirk. Loosening his grip on her wrist, he straightened up, his poisonous tongue returning in full force. "I was just reminding you: no matter how bad your mood is, don’t forget your place. Luoluo’s still waiting for you to take care of him."
Oh, great, I knew it!
Xiyan puffed out her cheeks in frustration.
Ou Jue turned and started walking away. Noticing that Xiyan wasn’t following, he glanced back over his shoulder and, in his usual infuriating tone, said, "Not coming? Do I need to carry you back?"
