He would arrange for his subordinates to visit that man in the hospital.
"But he really helped . Isn’t it only fair to thank him in person?" After saying that, Xiyan added, "If you won’t go, it ans you don’t really care about ."
Ou Jue stared speechlessly at the girl in his arms.
What kind of twisted logic was this?
Xiyan looked hurt. "Fine, I get it... You don’t need to go. Anyway, whether I feel hurt or not clearly doesn’t matter to you—you don’t care at all."
"Xia Xiyan!" Ou Jue gritted his teeth.
Was this damned woman a torturer in her past life? She always knew how to strike right at his weak spots—aiming with precision and ruthlessness.

The surgery had been very successful.

She stared blankly at the ceiling, and her first thought was: Where’s Ou Jue?

Nearby, Susan had woken up slightly earlier than Qiao Qianmo. Seeing her dazed expression, Susan’s mind pieced things together.
She deliberately put on a stern face. "Mrs. Ou."
Ou Jue’s mother turned imdiately and looked at Susan. "Ms. Susan, are you feeling unwell? I’ll call the doctor right away."
"That won’t be necessary." Susan’s expression was sour. Riding on the Ou Family’s respect for Mr. Ling—and bolstered by her current standing—her tone was haughty. "You promised back then that as soon as the surgery was over, we would see that boy Ou Jue. And now what? Are you stalling ? Are you treating my words as worthless?!"
Her tone wasn’t friendly at all.
Ou Jue’s mother had once been a celebrated socialite in her youth. Though ntal health issues had made her temperant sowhat extre later on, most of the ti, she remained an understanding and well-mannered woman.
She had never been scolded so directly before.
Nonetheless, Ou Jue’s mother smiled gently and adjusted Susan’s blanket. "Ms. Susan, you are Mr. Ling’s most cherished person. How could we possibly disregard you? Although Little Jue hasn’t co, didn’t I co here to represent him?"
Out of the corner of her eye, Susan caught sight of Qiao Qianmo’s disappointed expression. Despite this, her own deanor remained icy toward Ou Jue’s mother. "I heard that boy has a closer relationship with my husband. And now this? He’s abandoned everything here just to spend ti with a girl for her birthday?!"
"A birthday may be a small matter, but a proposal is a major one." While Ou Jue’s mother continued to treat Susan with polite respect, her tone held steady and calm. "After all, for Little Jue, this is a once-in-a-lifeti event."
A... proposal?
Qiao Qianmo’s face shot up abruptly. "Aunt, Ou Jue... proposed to Xiyan?"
Ou Jue’s mother nodded.
To her, what mattered most was a person’s character.
After all they had been through, Xiyan’s character was crystal clear to Ou Jue’s mother.
That girl was wonderful.
