Ou Jue firmly grabbed Xia Xiyan’s arm, stabilizing her previously wobbly body.
The coat Xiyan had been clutching tightly in her hands fell to the ground. The well-protected ow ow tumbled out, shook its little body, and let out a soft "ow."
But Xiyan herself was only wearing a thin plaid shirt, entirely soaked through.
After being in the rain for so long, she had developed a fever. The burning heat of her body radiated through the touch of Ou Jue’s hand.
The grip on her arm unconsciously tightened slightly. Ou Jue lowered his gaze and growled through gritted teeth, "Xia Xiyan, one day your stupidity is going to get you killed!"
Huh... why was she hearing that venomous Demon’s voice?
Xiyan’s consciousness was hazy. She struggled to open one eye and, upon seeing that stunningly handso face before her, she grinned foolishly. "Ou Jue... am I dreaming?"
He really showed up.
"Do you honestly think I’d enjoy being part of so idiot’s dream?!"
"That’s great... you really ca..." Xiyan murmured, and then her entire body went limp, collapsing forward.
Ou Jue instinctively caught her, the soft body of the little fool now resting against his chest.
His pupils contracted slightly, and Ou Jue could clearly hear a strong, steady heartbeat.
He couldn’t tell if it was hers... or his own.
Yin Qianze followed close behind, jumping down and glancing at the now unconscious Xiyan with evident worry. "Is she okay?"
"...She’s not dead yet." Ou Jue scooped her up in his arms without hesitation.
Yin Qianze glanced around the area, his gaze falling on the coat lying on the ground.
He crouched down, picking up ow ow and holding it in his arms as he let out a low sigh. "She’s really foolish."
"No kidding."
"Still, her foolishness is kind of endearing."
Ou Jue gave Yin Qianze a disdainful look. "What kind of taste do you have?"
Despite his words, the arms holding Xiyan kept adjusting, their grip growing increasingly firm.
The rescue team on the ground soon arrived and brought the three people and the cat back up to safety.

The doctor examined Xiyan and determined that, apart from the fever caused by being soaked in the rain, she had luckily sustained no other injuries.
It was now ten o’clock in the evening.
The unease Yin Qianze had been feeling all night finally settled once Xiyan was back safe.
As the late hour crept on, Ou Jue escorted Yin Qianze to the door.
Yin Qianze turned to him, his voice calm and gentle. "Promise , when she wakes up, don’t be harsh with her again."
"I’ll think about it."
"You’re moved, admit it."
Ou Jue snorted coldly. "Her kind of behavior is nothing but reckless stupidity to !"
Yin Qianze gave him a helpless look. "Alright, I’m heading out. Take care."
Returning to Xiyan’s room, Ou Jue looked at her still-unconscious figure. His gaze deepened as he pressed his lips together and stepped closer.
The little fool’s breathing was steady and even.
But—was her pair of glasses so kind of treasure? Even in this state, she insisted on wearing them?
Without much thought, Ou Jue reached out and removed Xiyan’s thick and ridiculously ugly black-frad glasses.
