...
Xiyan suddenly stopped crying and looked up with tear-filled eyes.
There was another knock on the door.
Then a voice followed.
"Is there anyone inside?"
Her consciousness was pulled back to reality in that second.
Xiyan quickly wiped her tears, cleared her throat, and tried to steady her voice, "Yes, soone is here."
The girl outside: "Sorry, I heard a strange sound, so I ca to check."
Xiyan wanted to reply to her, but the tears were still falling.
She bit her lower lip and didn’t speak further.
The person outside seed to have walked away.
Only when there was no more sound from outside did Xiyan stand up straight and push open the door to leave.
Outside, at the sink, there was a mirror; Xiyan looked into it and, as expected, her makeup was smudged from crying.
This appearance would certainly be noticed by others.
She quickly took out a compact from her bag and began to touch up her makeup.
Through the mirror, she saw a girl standing at the entrance.
Fair skin, beautiful face, long legs—she looked like a model.
And... she seed familiar, though Xiyan couldn’t imdiately recall who she was.
The girl seed to have been waiting for Xiyan, and upon seeing Xiyan’s tear-streaked makeup, she turned and left.
Retracting her gaze, Xiyan ignored it.
After finishing her makeup, ensuring there were no traces of having cried that others could detect, she finally walked out.
But now she was utterly devoid of energy, forced to participate against her will.
She entered the private room and, following her agent, recognized everyone there, though all with a distracted mind.
Two girls from M Country were watching Xiyan while whispering to each other.
"Lucy, why did she co alone? Didn’t they say Mr. Ou, as her family mber, would attend this dinner together? I was planning to take this chance to see the legendary Mr. Ou up close—he’s so young yet already listed on the global rich list as a legendary figure."
The girl nad Lucy was the model Xiyan had run into in the restroom.
She sneered, "You won’t see him today. Mr. Ou definitely won’t co."
"How do you know?"
"I just saw Sumr alone in the restroom crying," Lucy raised her eyebrows. "Guess why she’s crying?"
"Dumped... dumped?" The other girl was surprised, "No way? I heard that Mr. Ou and Sumr are already engaged in Hua Country."
"So what if they’re engaged? It doesn’t stop the guy from falling for soone else." Rose crossed her arms, growing increasingly sarcastic, "Let tell you, I have a middle school classmate nad Lisa, who told all this, it’s absolutely true! I heard the guy wants to break up with Sumr, but Sumr is clinging on and refusing to let go."
Lucy looked at Xiyan with contempt, "I can’t stand her fox-like deanor; maybe this advertisent today was obtained thanks to the guy. Now that he doesn’t want her anymore, I’m waiting to see her fall."
Similar to the resentnt of the rich, Lucy felt very imbalanced.
They’re around the sa age, and she’s not uglier than Sumr.
Why, after striving for so long, can she only be an unfortunate foil, only a living background for Sumr?!
It was infuriating.
This world is so unfair.
Lucy glared at Xiyan, seeing the smiling face she put on, she inwardly sneered again.
Even her fiancé got swayed by another woman, yet she could still manage a smile.
What an act.
