[Third Person Pov]

Clark pushed open the heavy rooftop door, the tal groaning as it swung outward. A cool gust of wind brushed past him, carrying the faint slls of the cafeteria below. He stepped out onto the broad concrete surface, scanning the familiar space until his eyes landed on the narrow side ladder that led up to the small platform above the entrance.

His boots clinked softly against the rungs as he climbed. With every step upward he felt the weight of the past week pressing heavier on his shoulders—seven full days of avoiding her, seven days of deliberately choosing silence. By the ti he reached the top, he'd already forced his expression into sothing neutral.

Lois was exactly where Joichirou said she'd been waiting all week.

She sat cross-legged on the ground, her laptop balanced comfortably on her lap while her untouched lunch sat beside her in a small container. The mont she heard him climbing, she paused mid-scroll and lifted her head. Her eyes locked onto him, widening for a mont before her face hardened.

"Well look at that," she huffed, snapping her laptop shut with more force than necessary. "Look who finally decided to show up—after a week of ignoring ."

Clark moved closer, stopping just a step in front of her. His shadow fell across her as he spoke, "I just ca to say you need to stop doing things no one asked you to do, and then acting like I'm the villain for it."

Lois blinked at him, startled. "What?"

"I never asked you to make lunch for ," he said, his voice low, calm, maybe too calm. "And I never asked you to keep coming up here waiting for every day. That was your choice. Your decision. It has nothing to do with . So stop it."

"You're joking… right?" Lois pushed herself up from the floor so quickly her laptop nearly dropped. She set it aside on the ground beside her and stood directly in front of him, eyes flashing. "You blatantly ignored for a whole damn week, and this is what you lead with? This kind of crap?"

Her voice rose, raw and furious. "No 'I'm sorry for ghosting you'? No 'Let explain'? You finally grow so balls and show yourself, and that's the first thing out of your mouth? What the hell is your problem, Clark?"

"I didn't co here to argue," he said, turning away, already stepping back toward the ladder. "I said what I needed to say."

"No! No, you don't get to walk away from this!" she shouted. In two quick strides she reached him and grabbed his arm, yanking him back with a strength born entirely of anger. "Not without an explanation."

"Let go," Clark said sharply, his eyes narrowing with a warning edge, tugging at his arm but Lois refused.

"No!" she snapped, her voice trembling but determined. "I need to know! Was it because we almost kissed!? Is that what this whole thing has been about?"

Her grip tightened on his arm. Clark clenched his jaw, forcing himself not to pull away too hard.

"Let go of ," he growled, fighting to keep his strength in check. "I won't repeat myself."

"And I said no!" Lois' voice cracked as she seized his arm with both hands, desperate now. "Just tell —what is it about that disgusted you so much?!"

Her breathing hitched, tears gathering quickly at the corners of her eyes.

"Lois—!" Clark warned, a fraying thread of patience in his tone as he raised his voice at her.

She shook her head violently, tears spilling over. "JUST TELL ! What about repulsed you enough to do everything in your power to avoid for a week?! To ignore just because we almost kissed?! What's wrong with —what did I do—"

Little by little Clark was losing his patience, with each word his jaw grew tighter still. With every protest and pull from Lois the more his patience waned until he—

"IT'S BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU!! FUCK!"

Clark's roar tore out of him before he could stop it. It echoed off the rooftop walls, raw and explosive.

Lois stumbled back a half step, eyes wide, breath caught in her throat.

"W-What?" she whispered, stunned. Her hands went slack, slowly slipping away from his arm as if she'd forgotten she was even holding him.

"You're driving insane! For fuck's sake—" Clark snapped, yanking his arm free from her grip. His voice was rough, strained, almost panicked. "I ignored you because I didn't want to fall in love with you. There! are you happy?! If I kissed you, Lois, there would be no going back for . So I kept my distance."

Lois froze. Her lashes trembled, tears clinging stubbornly to their tips. Clark dragged a hand through his hair, slicking it back as frustration and fear warred across his face.

"Kissing you—falling in love with you—would destroy what little self-control I have left in my life," he said, the words tumbling out faster, shakier. "I feel like I'm always one mistake away from losing myself. And you—" his voice cracked before he forced it steady again, "—you make it worse. Involving myself with you It's–Its-its sothing I won't be asked to co back from. And that terrifies . I'm scared I'll beco soone I'm not—"

He stopped abruptly, breath catching in his throat.

Lois's lips were on his.

A sharp jolt—static leaping between two frayed wires—snapped through both of them at the mont of contact. Clark's eyes widened in shock while Lois stretched onto her toes, gripping the collar of his jacket with trembling fingers as if anchoring herself to him. Her body shuddered, a soft gasp escaping her as her eyes squeezed shut, tears still glistening at the corners.

When she finally pulled back just an inch, her breath mingled with his in the cold rooftop air.

"Woah…" she whispered breathlessly, her voice cracking with disbelief. "...Did you feel that…? I heard of an electric kiss but that was sothing else"

Clark closed his eyes for a mont, exhaling a long, heavy sigh before letting his forehead rest against hers. "Yeah," he murmured, almost defeated. "And that's what I was afraid of…"

She swallowed, looking up at him through damp lashes. "And do you feel like a different person because of it? Like you're losing control?"

There was a brief silence. Clark's voice dropped to barely a whisper. "...A little bit."

"So do I…" Lois breathed, her lips brushing his as she spoke.

She lifted her hands slowly, tenderly, sliding one behind his neck. With deliberate gentleness she pulled him down toward her again. Clark didn't resist this ti—his hand rose instinctively to her waist, fingers settling against her like he'd always known where they belonged.

Lois rose onto her toes again, closing the space between them as she kissed him—firmly, deliberately—while Clark leaned into it, finally allowing himself to fall.
