A multitude of soldiers appeared in the square, and Ye Qiu and Caroline hadn’t even descended the bridge before they were surrounded.
Appearing alongside King Berlik were a young man and a middle-aged man.
These were the two who had plotted to marry Caroline off to another.
"Caroline, is this your lover? Finally showing his face, huh," the young man sneered.
Caroline stared at the young man and said, "Aren’t you just trying to vie for my position? If I leave the royal family, you’ll beco the rightful first heir."
This young man was a long-lost grandson that King Berlik discovered not long ago. Having fallen from grace years ago, he was recently found and brought to live in the palace.
Interestingly, he is Caroline’s brother, albeit a half-brother, sharing so of the sa bloodline.
"You... I have no designs on inheriting the throne. Stop your nonsense. You’re bringing sha to the royal family, getting pregnant before marriage," the young man argued strenuously.
"Enough!" King Berlik suddenly spoke, interrupting their quarrel, his gaze falling on Ye Qiu. He asked, "Is the child Caroline carrying yours?"
Ye Qiu shielded Caroline behind him and, eting everyone’s gaze, said, "Yes."
"Guards, seize him." Upon hearing Ye Qiu’s acknowledgnt, King Berlik imdiately ordered the guards to apprehend Ye Qiu.
In an instant, nurous guards rushed towards Ye Qiu. He softly said to Caroline behind him, "Once I take these people down, I’ll get you out of here."
Caroline nodded softly.
She wasn’t worried about Ye Qiu. The royal guards were no ordinary n, but Ye Qiu’s skill was also exceptional. In the assassin world, he was known as King Yan. She believed Ye Qiu would be alright.
Berlik, the young man, and the middle-aged man watched as a large number of guards charged forward.

Having no concern, Ye Qiu continued holding Caroline’s hand, moving forward.

As their attacks fell, they realized they struck only a shadow. They hadn’t touched Ye Qiu at all.
While searching for Ye Qiu’s presence, they heard Berlik’s warnings and looked up to find Ye Qiu above them, looking down upon them.
"Too late," Ye Qiu whispered, as his figure descended like a teorite, crashing into them, creating a large crater in the square. The centuries-old stone ground shattered.
As the dust settled, Ye Qiu stood in the vision of all, suspended above the crater, with the two palace experts buried beneath, barely alive, powerless.
Neither Berlik nor the young man had seen anything like it—these royal experts, undefeated for years, fell in monts.
Just how strong was this man?
At that mont, Caroline’s grandfather, Berlik, began to look at Ye Qiu differently, understanding why his granddaughter had affection for this man, who seed to be a truly extraordinary person.
Swoosh.
Ye Qiu appeared before Berlik and the others, saying, "Do you have any objections if I take Caroline with now?"
Berlik and the others remained silent; it was the first ti anyone had spoken to him in such a manner.
Ye Qiu’s deanor and tone showed complete disregard for them.
The next mont, Ye Qiu’s voice echoed in their ears once more: "If anyone still tries to stop from taking Caroline, I’ll kill. Although you are her family, to , your lives are as insignificant as sparrows in the sky—I can crush you anyti, flying high or not."
While he spoke, Ye Qiu didn’t even glance, pointing to the sky, and a small bird fell into his hand as if to prove the point.
This miraculous act rendered everyone speechless.
Placing the bird into Berlik’s hand, Ye Qiu smiled, turned to Caroline, took her hand, and slowly exited the palace.
During this ti, Berlik had nothing to say.
