32: 0032 Nightmare’s Agony 32: 0032 Nightmare’s Agony Nearly a hundred people, and even as an expert, Ye Qiu couldn’t avoid expending so effort.

After using up most of his True Qi, Ye Qiu just wanted to lie down for a rest and recover properly.

After all, he had only spent so strength, and it hadn’t caused him any harm.

Ye Qiu closed his eyes, as if the whole world had nothing to do with him.

At this mont, a figure approached stealthily.

He was like a wolf waiting for the right mont to pounce, holding back before bursting out, and like a black venomous snake, moving so silently without making a single noise, hiding every movent, all to deliver a lethal blow to his opponent.

He was the king of the assassins, known as Nightmare!

Nightmare’s background was very mysterious, unknown to outsiders.

It was only known that he was belligerent, particularly seeking battles against other skilled assassins.

Challenge after challenge, it’s not to say all were successful, but he always managed to escape unscathed.

As a result, the na Nightmare spread far and wide.

Later, when Nightmare assassinated another reigning champion of the assassin’s world, he delivered a Fatal Slash, thereby solidifying the na Nightmare.

The birth of an Assassin King!

Nightmare proved his might with his own abilities.

Thereafter, many rich people sought him out to eliminate their rivals, and anyone targeted by Nightmare couldn’t sleep at night, living every day as if in a nightmare.

Perfectly completing over a hundred assassination missions without a single failure, he firmly established his title as the King of Assassins.

And now, assassinating Ye Qiu was the one hundred and ninth mission Nightmare had taken on.

Initially, he wasn’t particularly interested in assassinations; they posed no challenge to him.

However, when he heard from his client that the target was a formidable expert, his interest was piqued, wanting to see who it actually was.

Ever since the day he first encountered Ye Qiu and witnessed his skills, Nightmare felt a surge of excitent.

Because Ye Qiu was indeed a master.

This thrill lingered with Nightmare for a long ti.

His withdrawal was a move to achieve the perfect assassination, especially the killing of a skilled fighter—it was like a feast of fine dishes, which he wanted to savor slowly to fully appreciate its flavors.

He had once told Ye Qiu that the next ti they t would be the day of the Fatal Slash.

To prepare for this day, he observed Ye Qiu every day in secret, waiting for the perfect mont.

This was the best mont that Nightmare had been waiting for, the perfect opportunity to strike.

He approached silently.

A two-inch blade appeared in his hand, closing the distance from twenty ters to ten ters from Ye Qiu.

Nightmare controlled his breathing extrely well, not even allowing the sound of his breath to escape.

That is the highest realm of an assassin.

“To die by my Bloodthirst Knife, you can close your eyes now,” Nightmare thought to himself.

He twisted the “Bloodthirst” in his hand slightly, changing the angle of the blade to reveal its sharpest edge.

It had also beco Nightmare’s murder weapon, his strongest backup.

Nightmare lovingly stroked the back of the knife, concealing its gleam, and with a slight movent, he advanced five ters in an instant.

Ye Qiu lay spread-eagled, motionless.

A cold sneer appeared on Nightmare’s face as the knife in his hand gradually neared Ye Qiu’s throat.

Ye Qiu lay there, completely unaware of the presence so close by.

His eyes remained closed, and now, the Bloodthirst Knife was already close to his chest.

At that mont, Nightmare decided to stop hiding.

It was ti to take down Ye Qiu in a single strike.

In an instant, Nightmare’s arm descended like the grim reaper’s, swiping the Bloodthirst towards Ye Qiu’s throat.

The Bloodthirst Knife was incredibly fast, flashing with a cold glint in the air before swiftly descending, ready to claim Ye Qiu’s life.

“Two hundred and thirty-seven,” Nightmare watched as the Bloodthirst was about to slash Ye Qiu’s carotid artery, completing the Fatal Slash, and he uttered a number.

It would be the two hundred and thirty-seventh person that his Bloodthirst Knife was about to kill.

The blade was inches away, as if death itself was looming, stretching out its hands to draw out Ye Qiu’s soul from his body, stripping away everything from him.

Suddenly, just as Ye Qiu was monts away from the inevitable fatal attack, he burst his eyes open and suddenly raised his right hand, quickly tossing sothing.

Just as Nightmare was about to retract the Bloodthirst, having thought he had succeeded, he was shocked to find Ye Qiu erupting into action and throwing sothing at him.

Whoosh!

Tiny objects entered his eyes.

Nightmare’s grip on the Bloodthirst Knife involuntarily altered its trajectory and in that mont, Ye Qiu leaped up, narrowly avoiding the knife that had co within a milliter of his throat.

“Despicable,” Nightmare’s vision blurred, and he cursed, finding Ye Qiu’s action shaless, throwing sand!

If not for the sand blinding him, he would have certainly taken Ye Qiu’s life just now.

Nightmare tried hard to open his eyes, but the stinging pain of sand in his eyes prevented him from continuing his assassination of Ye Qiu.

Moreover, he had missed his window of opportunity, so Nightmare decided to withdraw.

However, Ye Qiu was not about to give him the chance.

If it hadn’t been for his awareness of the unnatural silence around him, to the extent that not even the birds were chirping, he wouldn’t have detected Nightmare’s approach, and could have possibly been killed by the attack.

As a forr top-notch assassin who had stepped away from the scene for many years, his alertness had never faded.

From the mont Ye Qiu sensed sothing was off, he suspected it might be Nightmare assassinating him.

That chilly murderous aura shared among assassins, even if not fully unleashed, was faintly picked up by Ye Qiu.

Therefore, as soon as Nightmare drew close, Ye Qiu was already planning how to counterattack.

He kept his eyes closed to lure the attacker and held a handful of sand and dust, waiting for the right mont to throw it.

When strong opponents et, it cos down to who acts faster and whose tactics are superior.

In comparison to Nightmare, Ye Qiu’s thods were slightly superior.

A handful of soil scattered, not only resolved the crisis but also turned Nightmare into the passive one, at a disadvantage.

Ye Qiu’s body flickered, and he blocked the fleeing Nightmare in a flash.

Nightmare’s eyes were half-open, filled with tears of pain, all thanks to Ye Qiu.

It was the first ti Nightmare had been in such a sorry state.

Although he wasn’t injured, the outco before his eyes was even more embarrassing than being wounded: blinded by sand, a laughing stock if word got out in the assassin’s world.

Seeing Ye Qiu blocking his way, Nightmare knew he couldn’t avoid a confrontation and imdiately launched an attack.

Ye Qiu had already set his mind on killing.

Nightmare was a professional assassin and among the best of them.

If he escaped this ti, Ye Qiu would have to be on guard for sudden attacks from Nightmare, so he had to make sure Nightmare didn’t leave alive.

Swish swish.

Their speed was trendous, incessantly exchanging blows in mid-air; Ye Qiu fought barehanded, while Nightmare wielded the Bloodthirst Knife, constantly slashing at Ye Qiu’s vital points.

The weather grew overcast, dark clouds gathering, the wind blowing harder, swirling blades of grass into the sky.

No one knew that behind the university in Zhongshan City, on that deserted grassland, two experts were dueling with their lives at stake.

Their fight was brief, lasting less than a minute, before the outco was decided.

After the strike, they stood back-to-back, neither moving an inch.

After a while, Nightmare spoke in a hoarse voice, “How did you find ?”

Ye Qiu didn’t turn around and said, “The mont you revealed your intent to kill, I knew you were there.”

“Just based on that?” Nightmare asked in astonishnt.

The reason seed too simple; he didn’t believe it.

Yet, Ye Qiu nodded, countering, “Do you know what’s most important for an assassin?”

Nightmare remained silent.

Ye Qiu continued, “For an assassin, the most crucial thing during an assassination is not to expose oneself.

You concealed your killing intent quite well, but what you didn’t realize is that from the mont you drew near, your heartbeat gave you away, especially when you swung your knife, your heart rate sped up from 90 to 120 beats per minute—I knew then that you were not calm, but rather excited.”

After hearing Ye Qiu’s explanation, Nightmare chuckled bitterly, “I see, my True Qi is still far inferior to yours.

I’ve learned sothing,” he said, bowing with his back to him.

“Is there anything else you want to know?” Ye Qiu asked indifferently.

Nightmare shook his head as his vision blurred even more.

He looked up at the sky, struggling to keep his eyes open, only to find it so hard to even have one last glimpse of the world.

Then, with a thud, Nightmare fell to the ground.

Ye Qiu lingered there for a while, looking at the dead Nightmare, pondering sothing with an unknowable look in his eyes.

After sighing twice, Ye Qiu slowly walked away from the scene.

This assassination was dood to fail from the mont Nightmare’s intent to strike was perceived by Ye Qiu.

A flock of geese flew across the sky, now in a V formation, now in a straight line, passing over Nightmare’s corpse.

As the fierce sun crossed overhead, the setting sun pressed against the mountains.

Five police cars stopped in the field.

Nightmare’s body lay there, motionless; Lin Qiao’er frowned while looking at the corpse.

“Report, boss, the victim died from a dagger through the heart, a fatal slash,” the forensic officer said.

“It’s strange, though, this dagger is clearly the victim’s, and it was in his own hands, so why would it be plunged into his heart?

If he wanted to commit suicide, it doesn’t seem likely,” the forensic officer remarked.

Soon after, another police officer saluted and reported to Lin Qiao’er, “We’ve identified the victim through online checks.

He’s an international assassin, with no known na, known as Nightmare.

He’s a dangerous character who has assassinated nurous international political figures and business tycoons.”

“You’re saying the victim was an international assassin?” Lin Qiao’er’s face changed instantly when she heard this.

“Yes, and this Nightmare was formidable, having killed many high-profile individuals, still wanted by countries all over the world,” the reporting officer said timidly.

“An international assassin ca to our city, and I’m only finding out now!” Lin Qiao’er glared furiously at her subordinates, frustrated that an international assassin entered Zhongshan City unnoticed until his death; what if he hadn’t died?

She didn’t dare contemplate the consequences.

This was mainly why Lin Qiao’er was angry: how had the assassin passed through checks?

But at least he was dead now.

Naturally, she didn’t believe for a second that he had committed suicide; that would be a joke.

How could a top international assassin kill himself?

There must be another reason for his death.

Who could have killed such a renowned hitman?

Lin Qiao’er bit her lower lip—she was determined to find out!
