"Wang Rui, co see your dad," Liu Juyi waved at her son, Wang Rui, who was coming down the stairs.
Wang Rui ca downstairs, walked over to Wang Xiaoqiang, and stared at him with a sowhat dazed expression. Suddenly, a look of surprise and doubt flashed in his eyes, followed by fear. His body curled into a ball, and he backed away, then turned around and went back upstairs.
"Wang Rui, he's your dad, what are you scared of?" Liu Juyi shouted up the stairs at her son.
Wang Rui's reaction caught Wang Xiaoqiang by surprise, but Liu Juyi seed sowhat prepared for it and sighed to Wang Xiaoqiang, "Sigh, I don't know why, but this child has been acting stranger by the day..."
"You nad him Wang Rui?" asked Wang Xiaoqiang.
"Yes, is the na okay?" Liu Juyi inquired.
"The na is fine, and the child resembles greatly, but why is he so weak?" Wang Xiaoqiang thought Wang Rui was the weakest among all his sons.
It's precisely because of his frailty that he greatly resembled Wang Xiaoqiang when he was young. Back then, Wang Xiaoqiang's family was poor, and simply having enough to eat was considered a blessing. Things like milk, eggs, and at were rarely consud, so being frail was inevitable.
But his son, Wang Rui, was born into a wealthy family with excellent living conditions, so why is he so weak?
"Sigh..." Liu Juyi sighed deeply, "Actually, this matter started a year ago. A year ago, I took Wang Rui out for a trip, and when we passed by the Civil and Martial Temple, a monk suddenly approached and said Wang Rui had the Fate of a Child. Those with such a fate suffer illness and misfortune throughout life, and require spiritual intervention to protect their safety. I didn't believe him then and didn't seek his help. But since then, the child often had nightmares at night, saying he dreamt of temples, monasteries, and monks..."
"He said he was terrified by these dreams, waking up drenched in cold sweat each ti. After that, he seed dazed during the day, showing little energy, eating less, and quickly beca weak. I thought the child was sick, so I took him to hospitals, almost visiting all the renowned ones in Hong Kong and Macau. Every test was done, and the doctors said he wasn't sick, just a little shocked. If there was any illness, it would be a ntal one..."
"I don't think it's a ntal illness. I recalled the monk from the Civil and Martial Temple who ntioned Wang Rui's Fate of a Child. So, I went online and researched everything about it, and found it matched Wang Rui's dreamscape. The information said those with this fate dream of temples or monasteries,"
"Upon seeing this, I believed the monk's words a bit more, and then sought him out for resolution. The monk claid to be Master Chenguang. Master Chenguang said there are True Children and False Children. False Children endure calamities all their lives, while True Children don't live to adulthood. He said our Wang Rui was a True Child. He ntioned different types of Fate of a Child, such as those frequently dreaming of temples, which might an they were reincarnated Daoist attendants or young monks from previous lives..."
He said the only resolution was to shave Wang Rui's head and let him follow the monk for cultivation. I naturally disagreed, and I knew you wouldn't either, so I declined. He said shaving wasn't necessary but required performing a monthly ritual for Wang Rui..."
"What kind of ritual?" Wang Xiaoqiang interrupted and asked.
"It's basically hanging symbols at ho and teaching Wang Rui scriptures. I noticed Wang Rui didn't reject Master Chenguang that much, so I let him perform the ritual once. Surprisingly, it was effective; Wang Rui stopped having nightmares, but his body remained frail..."
"Uh..." Wang Xiaoqiang was montarily stunned.
Such beliefs as Fate of a Child are often considered superstitions by the public. Yet, Wang Xiaoqiang sowhat believed them, though not entirely. He felt sothing was amiss, so he asked, "Does Master Chenguang perform rituals for Wang Rui for free?"
"Of course not. Each ti, I have the driver pick him up by car. Driver Old Zheng said Master Chenguang is quite haughty, fussing around each ti, and seemingly unwilling, as if he's unhappy with the paynt amount."
"How much do you give him each ti?"
"Ten thousand," Liu Juyi replied. "Next ti, I'm planning to give him twenty thousand. Sigh, as long as our son gets better, I don't care how much money it costs, right Little Qiang?"
"Of course," Wang Xiaoqiang said, agreeing verbally, but internally he began to suspect Master Chenguang. If he were a truly enlightened monk, why would he be so greedy?
Thinking this, Wang Xiaoqiang opened his Heavenly Eye and scanned towards the second floor of the villa, seeing in a small bedroom his son Wang Rui curled up on the bed, covered by a blanket, showing a terrified expression, seemingly afraid of the light. In this hot sumr, being covered like that, he was already drenched in sweat.
This wasn't the strangest part. The odd part was, on his son, an indistinct shadow was present, a hazy specter, its face clearly a fierce ghost...
Witnessing this, Wang Xiaoqiang's heart skipped a beat.
It's horrifying, how can a ghost shadow attach itself to a five or six-year-old child?
Wang Xiaoqiang's heart tightened, and simultaneously, his face revealed extre anger. This wasn't Fate of a Child; clearly soone used ghosts to attach to his son, then deceives and extorts money.
And most likely, that person was Master Chenguang.
Upon realizing this, Wang Xiaoqiang's teeth clenched in fury.
Seeing Wang Xiaoqiang's angry expression, Liu Juyi puzzlingly asked, "Little Qiang, what's wrong with you?"
Wang Xiaoqiang, fearing he might scare Liu Juyi, replied, "Uh, nothing much, Juyi. I think there's sothing suspicious about this. Here's what we'll do: have the driver pick up Master Chenguang soon and tell him our son had nightmares again, bumping the ritual fee to twenty thousand."
"Alright, I'll handle it." Liu Juyi spoke seriously and pulled out her phone to call the driver, asking him to pick up Master Chenguang by car.
At that mont, Qiao Zhi walked out of the kitchen, saying "Dinner's ready, wash up and eat."
By then, Liu Juyi had ended her phone call, and said to Wang Xiaoqiang, "You start eating, I'll go upstairs and call our son down for dinner."
Wang Xiaoqiang said, "No need, even if you call him, he's too scared to co down."
When pushed to the edge, even ghosts react. That ghost must have realized Wang Xiaoqiang's odd behavior, hence the fear. Forcing Wang Rui downstairs might provoke extre asures.
Wang Xiaoqiang feared the ghost might harm Liu Juyi, hence his words, and she looked montarily stunned, her face turned somber, feeling Wang Xiaoqiang didn't care for their son.
The maid served the al, and the three sat down to eat. Driver Old Zheng drove to pick up Master Chenguang, while Wang Xiaoqiang released his Divine Sense, tightly locking in on the ghost haunting his son Wang Rui, preventing it from escaping.
