The Zhoushan Archipelago is strewn with nurous reefs and islands, accounting for 20% of China's total number of islands. Strategically located at the intersection of China's Eastern gold coastline and the gold waterway of the Yangtze River, it serves as a major mariti gateway for the eastern coastal regions and the Yangtze River basin to the world.
The area covers 22,000 square kiloters of water and 1,371 square kiloters of land.
