Don’s hands trembled slightly under the pressure.
The hunched man kept forcing its massive arms downward, muscles bulging grotesquely beneath torn flesh while its jaw snapped open and shut in broken spasms.
Blood poured from its mouth continuously, dripping onto Don’s forearms as it scread directly into his face.
The rooftop beneath them cracked further.
KRRRKKK—!~
Don’s boots slid half an inch backward.
More of the horde were climbing over the edge now.
Too many.
He couldn’t stay locked here.
With a low grunt forced through clenched teeth, Don suddenly pushed upward with everything he had left in his arms.
BOOM—!~
The force exploded outward violently.
The hunched infected got launched backward hard enough for its oversized torso to fold awkwardly around the montum.
Its body crashed directly into the growing cluster dismantling the rooftop defenses near the edge.
tal barriers snapped apart instantly.
Several infected lost footing entirely and tumbled backward off the tower, screaming nonsense all the way down before colliding into the horde climbing below.
Others got dragged with them when broken sections of piping and solar fras tore loose under the impact.
The hunched man itself didn’t fully fall.
One massive hand shot outward at the last second and caught the rooftop edge.
Its fingers dug deep into the concrete while its body hung partially over open air.
Still screaming.
Still trying to climb back up.
Don imdiately stepped forward to finish it—
Then stopped.
A new hand appeared first.
Large.
Mutated.
Its skin looked stretched too tightly over elongated bones while the fingernails resembled translucent blades rather than actual nails.
Thin veins pulsed visibly beneath pale flesh as those claws pressed directly into the hunched man’s skull.
SKRRK—!
The nails punched inward without resistance.
The screaming stopped instantly.
Blood sprayed across the rooftop edge.
Then the owner climbed over.
The man barely looked human anymore.
His entire torso appeared flayed in sections from the climb upward, chunks of skin hanging loose around exposed muscle while one shoulder sat partially dislocated and twisted unnaturally backward.
Glass shards remained embedded across his chest and neck from smashing through the tower windows below.
But none of it slowed him.
None of it seed to matter to him at all.
His eyes twitched wildly.
Mouth foaming.
And the second he reached the rooftop—
He rushed Don imdiately.
No hesitation.
No concern for himself whatsoever.
Don inhaled once.
Waited.
Closer.
Closer—
Then surged forward himself.
His leg snapped upward from below in one violent motion, hip turning fully into the strike as his heel slamd directly into the man’s chest.
KRAAASH—!~
The impact caved the man inward visibly before launching him backward into two more climbing that had just begun pulling themselves over the ledge.
All three disappeared back over the rooftop edge together.
But more replaced them instantly.
Five this ti..
All horrifying.
The first crawled on all fours despite its spine bending outward through torn skin like exposed tal rods.
Its arms were longer than its legs, fingers split open at the joints from climbing too aggressively.
Beside it ca a woman missing most of her lower jaw. Thick acidic fluid leaked constantly from her ruined mouth, sizzling against the rooftop wherever it landed.
SSSSSKK—~
Concrete lted beneath each drop.
Another infected dragged itself forward with only one arm while the other had swollen grotesquely into a bloated mass of twitching muscle.
Veins ruptured visibly across it every few seconds before resealing again.
The fourth wore what remained of business clothing, though its chest had split entirely open down the middle.
Sothing inside moved independently beneath the torn ribs.
The fifth—
Its legs were gone below the knees.
Yet it still launched itself forward by digging broken bone directly into the rooftop and dragging itself with frightening speed.
None of them cared about hurting themselves.
The acid-spitting woman accidentally sprayed one of the others while lunging.
Its shoulder lted partially away.
It kept attacking anyway.
Don moved first.
He rushed directly toward the crawling infected and stomped downward before it could leap properly.
CRUNCH—!
Its skull flattened beneath his heel instantly.
The acid-spitter attacked imdiately after.
Her throat convulsed violently before a stream of burning fluid launched toward him.
Don twisted sideways barely in ti.
Most missed.
Not all.
So splashed across his lower leg.
SSSSSSK—!!
Pain hit instantly.
The material around his shin blackened and lted apart while the acid burned into his skin beneath. Heat shot violently up his leg, forcing his jaw tight enough to hurt.
But he didn’t stop moving.
The bloated-ard one swung wildly toward him next.
Don stepped inside the attack instead of away from it.
His hand shot outward, grabbed the oversized arm mid-swing, then redirected it directly into the acid-spitter rushing behind him.
The mutated limb smashed into her face.
CRRAACK—!~
Bone shattered.
The remaining acid erupted from her mouth uncontrollably across both of them.
Their flesh began lting almost imdiately.
The bloated one scread while chunks of its own arm slid apart under the corrosive fluid.
Don grabbed its head before it could recover.
Then drove his knee upward.
BOOM—!
Its neck snapped backward violently.
Dead.
The businessman-looking one lunged at him from the side next.
Its chest split open further mid-motion—
Sothing inside tried to burst outward.
Don reacted instantly.
His fist drove straight into the opening before whatever lived inside could erge fully.
Wet resistance pressed against his knuckles.
Then ruptured.
It convulsed violently before collapsing backward.
But the legless one reached him finally.
It launched upward from below using its exposed bones like hooks.
Don barely caught it.
Its broken stumps scraped across his side while filthy fingers clawed toward his throat.
For half a second it nearly reached him.
Then Don slamd its head directly into a ventilation unit beside them.
KRAAASH—!~
tal dented inward from the impact.
He hit it again.
Again.
Again.
Until the thing stopped moving entirely.
Don stepped back breathing harder now.
Sweat mixed with blood and gri across his face while the burn on his leg throbbed painfully beneath partially lted fabric.
Then more climbed over the rooftop edge.
Again.
One leaped toward him imdiately—
Don caught its arm midair and redirected the montum straight into another one behind it.
Both crashed together.
He grabbed the first one before it recovered and twisted violently.
SNAP—!
Its spine folded sideways.
Another reached him from behind with elongated fingers aiming toward his eyes.
Don ducked barely in ti.
They scraped across his hair instead.
Too close.
Way too close.
He pivoted hard and drove an elbow into its throat.
The impact crushed inward visibly.
Still it tried reaching for him.
Don grabbed its jaw—
Then tore downward with raw force.
Blood sprayed across his chest.
But then another slamd into his back before he could reset fully.
The collision shoved him forward several steps.
Hands grabbed at his arms.
His neck.
His legs.
Don snarled and drove himself backward violently into a generator unit behind him.
KRAASH—!~
The one crushing against his back got flattened between them instantly.
He spun imdiately afterward and punched through another’s face so hard the body collapsed before even hitting the ground.
Still more ca.
Don huffed heavily now.
Every breath hotter.
Every movent heavier.
But he kept eting them head-on anyway.
Sweat dripped from his jaw while blood streaked down one side of his forehead. Gri coated nearly every visible part of him now.
And across the rooftop—
K-4 fought his own battle.
The man moved with terrifying precision despite the chaos around him.
One of the people from the horde got pulled fully over the edge only for K-4 to drive a combat knife straight upward through its jaw before kicking the corpse back into the climbers below.
Another rushed him with elongated arms—
K-4 sidestepped narrowly and broke its knee backward before throwing it directly into the path of another climber.
One managed to grab his shoulder.
K-4 responded by smashing its face repeatedly against exposed piping until nothing recognizable remained.
Then he kept moving.
Because neither side of the rooftop was slowing down.
