Ti flew by, and it was ten o’clock at night.
In the hotel, inside Bai Wenrou’s room, the group had discussed strategies and swiftly created an action plan.
"Susu, you head out first in a while," soone instructed, "take a walk on the streets as a decoy, and then Ye Xuan and I will take action, driving and following from behind to provide support. Yang Shan, Xiaong, you two stay in the hotel. Do not act on your own or leave until we return! Understood?"
Bai Wenrou swept her gaze over everyone, making arrangents systematically, and then asked.
"No problem."
Wei Xiaosu gestured an OK sign, nodding first.
"Understood, Team Leader Bai!"
Yang Shan also nodded. She had no objections to the plan Bai Wenrou had made.
This was currently the best course of action because, being non-combatants, she and Sun Xiaong would only encumber the others. Staying inside the hotel was the safest option!
However, Sun Xiaong’s thoughts were clearly different.
As a reporter, she believed in having an adventurous spirit, so she looked eagerly at Bai Wenrou and said, "Sister Bai, can’t you let co along too?"
Although she was well aware that the mission was dangerous and might distract others who would need to look after her, she still wanted to witness it firsthand!
From a young age, she had an intense and sowhat obsessive desire for adventure. If she couldn’t participate personally, the inner tornt would be unbearable.
"No! There’s no way that’s happening this ti, you must stay inside the hotel!"
Bai Wenrou’s stance was unquestionable, speaking without a hint of negotiation: "Moreover, you must stay in Yang Shan’s room until we return before you can go back to your own."
As for her best friend’s character, Bai Wenrou knew it all too well! If she left her alone in a room without supervision, she would certainly sneak out, and that would be extrely dangerous.
That’s why she intended to have her stay in Yang Shan’s room - the purpose was for Yang Shan to keep an eye on her, to prevent her from slipping out alone.
"Ah? Sister Bai, don’t be like this. You’re depriving of my freedom – don’t you think that’s too cruel?"
Sun Xiaong imdiately protested, her face full of grievance.
"It’s better than you sneaking out! If you don’t agree, you can co and challenge . If you can beat , then I’ll let you co along."
Bai Wenrou replied nonchalantly, a faint smile playing on her lips.
Her words were clearly setting an impossible challenge; with Sun Xiaong’s modest abilities, not to ntion defeating her, she probably couldn’t even handle a single move from Bai!
Indeed an impossible mission.
Sure enough, upon hearing this, Sun Xiaong’s head drooped imdiately, like a frostbitten eggplant, listless and disheartened!
Defeat Bai Wenrou as a joke? She had no fighting strength; confronting her would surely be a losing battle.
Besides, if she had that kind of power, would she even need to abide by these restrictions?
"Alright! When you ca, you promised to obey my orders. So, just stay put in the room and wait for us to co back."
Bai Wenrou said with a serene smile, patting Sun Xiaong’s shoulder.
"Fine! I got it."
Sun Xiaong responded gloomily, clearly in a bad mood.
Bai Wenrou didn’t say more and shifted her attention to Wei Xiaosu, "Susu, let’s start with our plan now."
"Okay, I’ll head out right away. Make sure to follow up on ti, you guys!"
Wei Xiaosu nodded and said a word, then left the room.
About five minutes later, Ye Xuan and Bai Wenrou, having finished their preparations, also left the hotel room.
Before leaving, Bai Wenrou specifically told Yang Shan to keep a close eye on Sun Xiaong and not let her wander off.
"Xiaong, sit down first. We’ll just wait here."
After the two had left, Yang Shan beckoned Sun Xiaong to sit down.
Then, he sat down at the head of the bed himself and picked up the laptop next to him, starting to type away.
Sun Xiaong’s eyes darted around, and she moved to sit next to Yang Shan, smiling as she asked, "Shan, aren’t you excited about their operation?"
"Huh? Why do you ask?" Yang Shan said, puzzled.
"If you’re interested or excited, we could follow them and take a look."
Sun Xiaong revealed her intentions. If she could persuade Yang Shan to join her, she wouldn’t be breaking the rules.
"Xiaong, don’t even think about it. The team leader has already given orders, so there’s no way I’m going," Yang Shan said with a frown, her face a picture of moral righteousness. "Besides, I advise you to drop the idea too! Acting on your own will lead to punishnt. Since team leader Bai assigned to stay here, it’s to keep an eye on you, and I won’t let you go out. Otherwise, I can’t explain myself to the team leader."
"Oh, all right then!"
Sun Xiaong pouted, her face displaying a look of helplessness. It seed that she really couldn’t go out now and participate in the operation.
Originally, she had hoped to persuade Yang Shan to go out with her, but now that plan was not possible, she had to give up on the idea.
Ti ticked away.
In a blink of an eye, twenty minutes had passed since Ye Xuan and the others had left.
Yang Shan sat at the head of the bed, still typing away at her laptop, not playing gas or anything, but busy working.
Her task at the mont was to support Ye Xuan and the others outside in their operation, collecting signals and positioning satellites, to track the coordinates of their targets.
She was now watching the movents of Bai Wenrou and others on her laptop screen, ready to lock onto the assailant as soon as they appeared!
Sun Xiaong, having nothing better to do, hugged her phone and played Candy Crush to pass the tedious ti.
However, her mind wandered off, restless, scratching like a cat’s claws.
"Hmm?"
Just then, Yang Shan at the head of the bed furrowed her brows and let out a soft grunt, her face showing a look of pain.
"Shan, what’s wrong?" Sun Xiaong asked, confused.
"It’s nothing, just a bit of stomach ache, probably from eating bad barbecue," Yang Shan said as she clutched her stomach, beads of sweat forming on her smooth forehead, her teeth clenched.
"Ah? Is it serious? If it’s really bad, we should go to the hospital. Don’t delay in case it gets worse!"
Sun Xiaong’s eyes whirled, and she imdiately responded.
"No need for the hospital, it’s an old problem, just a sensitive stomach! I’ll go to the toilet, that should help," Yang Shan said.
"Oh, then you should hurry to the toilet. The sooner it’s resolved, the better. Don’t let the stomach pain get worse."
Sun Xiaong seed to say kindly.
"Okay, I’m going to the toilet now. Stay quiet in the room and don’t run around,"
Yang Shan warned, then threw down her laptop, and rushed to the bathroom.
As soon as Yang Shan left, Sun Xiaong’s mind beca active, wondering if she should take this opportunity to slip away?
Such a good opportunity cos only once; if missed, there’d be no way out!
After pondering for three seconds, Sun Xiaong decided—she was going to slip out!
An adventure so thrilling—if she couldn’t be part of it, that’d be a lifelong regret.
So, no matter what, even if she got scolded by Bai Wenrou upon returning, she had to see it for herself. After all, a scolding wouldn’t cost her a piece of flesh!
As for danger, Sun Xiaong didn’t care at all. Choosing to be a reporter, she naturally loved adventures.
Moreover, with Ye Xuan and others drawing fire up front, any danger wouldn’t likely co her way.
Sun Xiaong didn’t believe she’d be so unlucky to be the one singled out by the assailant...
