"I-It is the channel I gave to the Leander Family...
T-They are contacting us!"
Ythric reported, and in an instant, Vexarion’s expression changed.
"What are you waiting for!? Pick it up."
He ordered, but before Ythric could do anything, Vexarion waved his hand in excitent. The Call Artifact moved towards him, and he picked it up.
With the call connected, Vexarion’s eyes fell on a being with long black hair, horns, purple eyes, and a devilishly attractive face. The being wore black robes that had the Leander Family Sigil imprinted on its chest, and as the being’s eyes fell on Vexarion, he smirked playfully.
"Vexarion Aurendor, we finally et."
The Devil greeted.
At his words, however, Vexarion’s mouth twitched. He did not like how a re rcenary called him by his na. For now, however, he contained his emotions and,
"Are you the Leader of the Leander Family?"
He questioned.
"Leader? Did you not hear our na? We are a Family. A Family has no Leader."
"...Do you speak on behalf of the Leander Family or not?"
Vexarion questioned directly. He clearly had no interest in his family dynamics.
"Is your sight just as bad as your hearing? Do you not see this?
Plus, I contacted you through the channel you people gave to the Leander Family, did I not?
What sort of question is that?"
The Devil questioned, pointing at the Sigil imprinted on his chest.
"How is soone like you the Leader of a High-Level World?"
He questioned.
And in Vexarion’s Hall, a heavy silence descended.
Every being who heard those words took in a deep breath as their hearts froze.
This...
Was this man... insulting their Lord?
They couldn’t believe it.
Sothing like this has never happened before; none of them could see it happen even in their wildest dreams.
Crack
Ythric heard a voice, and he quickly noticed that Vexarion’s Throne’s armrest was broken. He was angry—no, that was an understatent.
He was extrely angry.
And what’s worse?
Vexarion had no other choice but to continue the conversation.
After all, the Leander Family was just that important. If they could just get them on their side, all their problems would be solved. They would be able to corner Sharnoth, defeat her, and then present her to the Supre World of Light, gaining their favor.
Vexarion could see the bigger picture as well.
He knew he needed to take it in.
Once he had the Supre World of Light’s favor, taking care of so re rcenaries wouldn’t be an issue.
Yes, that was it.
He needed to be patient right now. He would deal with this bastard later.
"The channel was released publicly. Even though it was ant to be for the Leander Family, anyone could use it. So I need to make sur—"
He tried to explain as calmly as possible.
"Right, that makes sense."
Nux nodded at his words, interrupting him mid-sentence.
Vexarion, once again, controlled himself and tried to nod in agreent, but then—
"So? What’s your grand solution?"
Nux questioned.
He looked into Vexarion’s eyes and,
"Let’s say I was soone impersonating the Leander Family. How are you going to find out the truth?"
"..."
Vexarion turned silent.
"Co on, Genius.
I am waiting for your answer.
You do not know the Leander Family. You do not even know the number of mbers we have, nor how strong our mbers are.
You do not know where our base is. You do not know what race we are of.
How will you prove anything?
Hmmm?"
Nux questioned, and Vexarion...
He had no way to answer his question.
What he did know, however, was that this bastard was extrely annoying. He was trying to remain patient, to not lose his calm and get what he wants, but—
"Hmm? Hmmm? Hmmmmmm?
What are you going to do, Vexarion Aurendor? You must have a way, do you not?"
Annoying.
Extrely annoying!
Vexarion’s mouth continued to twitch. Ythric, who knew his Lord was about to lose it, quickly waved his hand, and the Call Artifact floated towards him.
Vexarion glared at Ythric, who simply nodded reassuringly and—
’My Lord has no reason to lower himself and converse with a re rcenary. Let do it.’
He spoke using the Energy that connected him with Vexarion. Those words cald Vexarion. Plus, he still had not forgotten how important this actually was.
It was better to let Ythric handle it than to lose his calm and affect the negotiation here.
Seeing that Vexarion had closed his eyes, Ythric saw it as a sign and sighed inwardly.
"Ythric Vaasium."
Suddenly, Ythric heard a voice.
He turned towards Nux, a little taken aback.
"You know ."
"Of course I do. Unlike your lot, we do our research."
Nux answered with a light smirk. A smirk that was enough for Ythric to realize it.
This man... he was looking down on him.
No, not just him—he was looking down on his entire World.
Just... how arrogant does one have to be to look down on an entire World?
What sort of ridiculous being were they dealing with?
Of course, unlike Vexarion, Ythric did not lose his calm. Rather, he smiled and,
"That is good. The more competent you are, the better it is for ."
He smiled.
"Damn, you people really are desperate, aren’t you?"
Nux laughed.
His mockful words tore through every Aurendorian’s hearts.
It was... humiliating.
Even Ythric was losing his patience, but—
"We would rather not use our final card to deal with the situation. It would cause too much unnecessary destruction and death, and as beings of light, we would like to avoid that."
He answered, showing that he didn’t actually need the Leander Family—they weren’t desperate.
But—
"I thought Khaemorr gave a way out?"
Nux suddenly frowned.
"Didn’t they offer a one-on-one battle to avoid any unnecessary deaths? What could be a better solution than that?
As ’beings of light’, should you not go with that option?"
He questioned with a light smile on his face, and Ythric’s face turned solemn.
