"Why did you say such false things at the dinner table to slander ?" After a tasteless al, once the tableware was cleared, Lin ngyao stopped Lin ngxi.
"You yourself said they’re just false statents, right? I also just heard it from others, that’s why I ntioned it. Why are you getting angry? Aren’t you supposed to be the ice queen, unruffled no matter what happens?" Lin ngxi crossed her arms and looked at Lin ngyao, a mocking smile curving her lips.
"Don’t block my way, I want to go back to my room to rest."
Xu Ke stood beside Lin ngyao, and when Lin ngxi bumped into them, he pulled Lin ngyao into his arms. Lin ngxi snorted coldly when she missed the target, her gaze clashing with Xu Ke’s, sparks flying in the air between them.
"Xu Ke, I don’t know why, but I have a bad feeling." Lin ngyao clutched Xu Ke’s hand tightly, her heart beating rapidly in her chest. This feeling of panic and distraction hadn’t occurred in a long ti.
"Don’t overthink it, I’m here with you. If you really don’t feel at ease staying here, I’ll take you to our own ho." Xu Ke placed a hand on Lin ngyao’s hair, massaging her scalp gently, trying to relax her tense nerves.
"We both had drinks, so how can we drive back? And it’s late, we can’t find a taxi. Let’s just sleep here for the night." Even though Lin ngyao said this, her furrowed eyebrows didn’t relax, nor did she let go of Xu Ke’s sleeve.
Xu Ke didn’t expose Lin ngyao’s reluctance but instead placed his hand on her shoulder, leading her to the room prepared by the Lin Family.
Seeing the bed positioned in the center of the room, Lin ngyao forgot about her anxiety for a mont, her face turning red from head to neck.
Even when they moved to a villa, they still shared a room but maintained the old habit from the Lin Family—one sleeping on the bed, the other on the sofa. Who would have thought there’d only be one bed here, with no other place to sleep?
Noticing Lin ngyao’s dilemma, Xu Ke recalled how much closer they had grown compared to three years ago, and decided not to push her, saying, "You take the bed, I’ll sleep on the floor tonight."
"No, it’s getting cold lately, sleeping on the floor isn’t good for your health. You... just sleep with ." As Lin ngyao spoke the last few words, she nearly twisted her neck, keeping her head lowered and speaking so softly that if Xu Ke’s hearing weren’t sharp, he might have missed it.
From Xu Ke’s perspective, he could see her exposed earlobes, red as if they were about to bleed, and a flush spreading over her neck. As if lured by sothing, Xu Ke’s head dipped lower and lower until he pressed his cool lips against her neck, a satisfied sigh escaping his throat.
The combined stimulus of touch and sound sent shivers down Lin ngyao’s skin, making her jump up imdiately. Her head bumped against Xu Ke’s, yet she didn’t feel any pain, just covering the spot on her neck he had kissed, her eyes shimring with moisture as she looked at him.
"How could you kiss without my permission? I only ant for you to sleep on the bed, not to kiss ." Although Lin ngyao pointed at Xu Ke and spoke, her voice was so soft it carried no harm, almost causing Xu Ke to burst into laughter.
"It was my mistake. I shouldn’t have kissed you without your permission." Xu Ke approached Lin ngyao, taking her hand and pulling her arm behind her back.
Without her arms as a barrier, they were now even closer. Lin ngyao found herself encircled by Xu Ke’s embrace, their breaths intermingling, and the air around them becoming increasingly warm. Gazing intently into Lin ngyao’s eyes, Xu Ke lowered his voice, asking with a hint of coaxing, "Miss Lin ngyao, can I kiss you now?"
The minty scent of Xu Ke’s words wafted over Lin ngyao’s face, intoxicating her senses. Like a cat under the influence of catnip, she could only nod dumbly.
Seeing Lin ngyao nod in a daze lted Xu Ke’s heart completely. He tightened his embrace, nestling her into his arms, and gently laid a cherished kiss upon the lips he had long yearned for. The cool yet soft sensation made Xu Ke involuntarily close his eyes.
Just the touch of their lips was enough to raise Xu Ke’s body temperature, as if he was about to combust. Despite his reluctance, Xu Ke stepped back, using his strong willpower to resist the urge to devour Lin ngyao, creating a safe distance between them.
"Xu Ke, I’m so hot," Lin ngyao said, panting slightly, her eyes glistening as she gazed at him. Her hands moved involuntarily to unbutton her clothes.
"Is the air conditioning off? My limbs feel weak. Am I running a fever?" Lin ngyao forced her closing eyes open, her voice as faint as a mosquito’s buzz, asking.
At that mont, Xu Ke’s face was as dark as if a storm was about to break, clearly indicating sothing was wrong. This wasn’t normal; he had clearly fallen into a trap. "Damn it, when did this happen?" Xu Ke gritted his teeth, stepping forward to support Lin ngyao as she started to slump.
"Xu Ke, I’m uncomfortable, I’m so hot," Lin ngyao said, squirming to free herself from Xu Ke’s grasp to remove her clothes. Her face was completely flushed, full of grievances, like a child denied candy, accusing the world of being unkind.
"It will be okay soon, you’ll feel cooler soon, be a good girl," Xu Ke, just as tornted as Lin ngyao, was dripping with sweat, practically breathing fire.
However, by then Lin ngyao couldn’t hear Xu Ke at all, only repeatedly complaining about the heat.
By the ti Xu Ke dumped her into a bathtub filled with cold water, half an hour had passed. Xu Ke was also drenched in sweat, while Lin ngyao let out a sigh, finally quieting down.
"Feeling better?" Xu Ke, his hair slightly disheveled, sat by the bathtub and asked softly.
"I’m much better, thank you," Lin ngyao said, sinking further into the cold water, unable to et Xu Ke’s gaze. She recalled everything that had happened, and as she thought of their first kiss, her face, which had just returned to its normal color, blushed once more.
