"This job was not easy to co by, I don’t want to lose it. I know that there are definitely more people than these few who look at the Calvin family’s young master and miss. Please help bring them here, surely soone among them will like and be willing to choose ." The female teacher’s knuckles turned white from exertion.
The butler, for the first ti, put away his smile due to the female teacher’s unrestrained words.
"The affairs of the master’s house are not sothing that a servant like can interfere with. How many young masters and misses want to attend your classes is their business. I am just a butler; I cannot make decisions for anyone. Similarly, their choice among the four teachers is also their business, and I don’t have the authority to help them make a choice. So for your unreasonable request, I cannot agree."
"We are all adults, let’s not make things ugly. Do you want to leave with the money from Calvin yourself, or do you want to help you?" The butler made a gesture of invitation.
But the female teacher shook her head, unwilling to leave, and kept saying, "Please, just make an exception. I really don’t want to lose this job. Without it, I have no source of inco, and I will die."
While the two were still entangled, or rather, while the female teacher was still entangled alone, a deep male voice sounded from behind them.
"What are you doing?" Claude appeared in everyone’s sight.
Everyone greeted Claude respectfully, even Marian, who was usually prickly like a porcupine, had to lower her head in front of Claude.
The butler stepped forward and respectfully explained the recent events in a low voice.
The female teacher did not know what the butler said in front of Claude; she just looked at Claude expectantly, with a pitiful expression, hoping he would be tenderhearted and let her stay.
"Why bother entangling with this kind of person. Give her a severance pay and drive her away. The Calvin family doesn’t keep useless people." Claude said coldly, giving the teacher a glance.
"Yes, I will arrange it imdiately." The butler nodded and followed Claude’s instructions, had people drag the resisting teacher out directly.
"I wonder what brought you here today, brother?" Nancy asked quietly.
Claude looked in the direction of the voice, his beautiful eyebrows slightly frowning, "I rember telling you many tis not to call brother. My mother only gave birth to one child, so I have no brothers or sisters. You should call Young Master."
Claude’s rciless words made Nancy’s face turn pale at once, and Marian, seeing the woman she hated the most suffering a setback, couldn’t help but laugh, thinking Claude wasn’t so unpleasant after all for the first ti.
Claude looked over at the laughter.
"You shouldn’t laugh at others here. I hope the money owed to has been prepared, and I won’t have to send soone to your ho to ask for it personally." Claude glanced sideways at Marian and said coldly.
Marian’s mood soured because of Claude’s words, but she didn’t rebut in public. If her father found out about such disgraceful matters, it would affect her standing in his eyes.
Marian glared fiercely at Claude, and said resentfully, "Rest assured, such a small amount of money is nothing to , I have long since prepared it for you."
"That’s for the best." Claude concluded.
Having reprimanded his two troubleso sisters, Claude then turned to Xu Ke.
"My equestrian teacher has recently fallen ill, and I need a substitute. I think you would be good for the job," Claude said to Xu Ke.
"But I learn faster than the others, and our course progress is not the sa, so I hope you can reserve two hours each afternoon for us to have horse-riding lessons. Of course, this is additional work and I will pay you your salary accordingly, so you won’t lose out. What do you think?" Claude asked Xu Ke’s opinion.
Xu Ke’s first reaction was that his purpose was definitely not that simple, but being able to have more contact with a mber of the Calvin family would increase his chances of seeing the gem, so Xu Ke did not intend to refuse Claude.
So Xu Ke nodded and said, "It would be my honor to serve you."
Seeing Xu Ke agree, Claude nodded satisfactorily, then turned and left, as if this minor issue, easily solvable by a phone call, was the only reason he ca to the stables.
Those present were sowhat puzzled by Claude, everyone speculated on the underlying intent of his actions.
As the legitimate son, Claude’s existence was a stumbling block for many illegitimate sons and daughters, especially since he was intelligent and highly capable, making him a formidable barrier, leaving everyone gasping for air.
They constantly wished to drag him down from his current position, therefore, every action he took was magnified by them, in hopes of finding Claude’s weakness this way.
The initially peaceful horse-riding lesson was disrupted by Claude’s appearance, but fortunately, they didn’t intend to risk their lives, so sitting on horseback, they set aside thoughts of Claude and beca earnest one by one.
Xu Ke’s thod of having them learn on horseback successfully improved everyone’s learning efficiency, with promising progress.
Although the butler did not initially agree with Xu Ke’s decision, seeing Xu Ke’s progress as faster and more efficient than any other teacher, he felt reassured and left with a smile to prepare so cookies for the noon break.
Class ti passed quickly, as if with just a few words and blinks of an eye, it was over.
When the four who had been sitting on horseback for two hours dismounted, if Xu Ke wasn’t supporting them, they might have directly sat down on the grass.
It’s nothing; while on horseback, they didn’t feel it, but upon dismounting and feeling the ground beneath their feet, they realized just how weak their legs were.
"It’s normal for this to happen the first ti you learn to ride. This is just the beginning. Later on, your tender legs may be worn raw and bleeding, so I hope you are prepared and won’t give up halfway." Xu Ke smiled as he spoke to the four standing before him.
"I suspect you did this on purpose. Why don’t the students of the other two teachers feel weak in the legs or nearly embarrass themselves like we do? Are you targeting us on purpose, playing tricks on us?" Marian, leaning against a maid, gave Xu Ke a fierce look and said.
"If you think I’m targeting you and playing tricks on you, then you can choose other teachers. But I want to say, I’m not that kind of unethical person. Since I’ve decided to teach you, I will give it my all." Xu Ke paused here, his eyes scanning the four people one by one.
