"The person was sent by the old drunk, and I reckon he’s not bad. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have recomnded him to in the first place," Brother Xiong sighed.
Lu Xun wanted to tell Brother Xiong that people can change, but then he thought of the friendship between Brother Xiong and the old drunk and swallowed his words.
If the person sent by the old drunk is really fine, saying such things would be tantamount to sowing discord. Brother Xiong couldn’t tolerate any deceit, and by then, he’d probably exclude him altogether.
Forget it; it’s better to keep an eye on things. If there’s an issue, he definitely wouldn’t let the person stay, but if there’s no problem, he shouldn’t wrong the person without reason.
Lu Xun made up his mind and spoke a few words with Brother Xiong. "Just take him directly to the casino to report tomorrow," Brother Xiong said.

Even though Shenghao wasn’t part of Lu Xun’s managent, they were good brothers. Thus, hearing Brother Xiong’s arrangent, Lu Xun had no objections. Xu Ke wouldn’t be under his direct oversight, but under his brother’s. If he had any ulterior motives, he wouldn’t be able to stir up trouble.
"Alright, I’ll take him to handle the induction tomorrow." Lu Xun agreed promptly, and both sides hung up the phone, putting an end to the conversation.
The next day, Xu Ke had just returned from his morning jog when he received a call from Lu Xun.
"Where are you now?" Lu Xun’s voice ca through the phone.
"I’m at ho, why?" Xu Ke asked while wiping the sweat off his forehead.
"I’ll take you to handle so induction procedures today. Stay at ho; I’ll co to you in a while," Lu Xun said.
"Okay," Xu Ke responded readily.
Lu Xun tid it well. Xu Ke had freshened up and had a al when Lu Xun arrived.
"Brother Lu, may I ask where I’m going for the job? Brother Zhao didn’t tell about finding a job," Xu Ke curiously asked like an innocent child.
"Brother Zhao?" Lu Xun thought for a mont, eventually finding a face to match the na.
"Him? I don’t know what that Zhao taught you, but in Ning City, on Brother Xiong’s turf, you follow his rules. Brother Xiong can’t stand those who are lazy with working hands and feet. Everyone under Brother Xiong has a job. Since you’re here in Ning City, you’re no exception," Lu Xun explained, watching Xu Ke through the rearview mirror. Seeing no dissatisfaction on Xu Ke’s face, Lu Xu felt relieved.
"Got it. Don’t worry, I was just surprised since I didn’t know before. But since it’s Brother Xiong’s rule, I’ll surely comply," Xu Ke said, his face showing slight embarrassnt but more determination.
This made Lu Xun regard him a little more positively. Perhaps influenced by Brother Xiong, Lu Xun also disliked those who lazed around despite being capable. Seeing Xu Ke lacking those annoying habits, Lu Xun’s view softened slightly.
The two were not familiar with each other, and although Lu Xun said nothing, Xu Ke could see deep-seated wariness in his eyes. Thus, there wasn’t much to say between them. Once Xu Ke fell silent, Lu Xun didn’t speak much either, ending their conversation.
Fortunately, the place Lu Xun was taking Xu Ke to wasn’t far from Xu Ke’s ho. A half-hour drive brought them there.
Seeing the lavishly decorated building before him, Xu Ke raised an eyebrow, surprised by the location of the job Lu Xun ntioned. From Lu Xun’s righteous deanor, Xu Ke had thought he’d be taken to so legitimate enterprise, but it turned out to be a club.
Seeing the large golden letters spelling out Shenghao and considering his appearance, Xu Ke suspected they wanted to make him a club escort. The thought darkened his face; he swore if they truly tried that, he might not be able to hold himself from killing soone.
Fortunately, Xu Ke’s fears didn’t materialize. Only tasked with being a lobby manager, his expression returned to normal.
"You’ll work here from now on. Your first shift is tonight; will you manage?" Lu Xun asked after arranging his induction and handing him a uniform.
"Yes, no problem," Xu Ke replied.
"Good. I noticed your earlier, strained expression; I thought you disliked working here and were unhappy with Brother Xiong’s arrangent," Lu Xun laughed, ntioning the matter casually. "If you don’t like it, you can tell . I can relay it to Brother Xiong. He’s quite open-minded and doesn’t force anyone. If you’re displeased, he can reassign you."
"No need, I think it’s fine. I looked unwell earlier, probably because I wasn’t used to the food. It’s my first ti in Ning City, and the diet here differs from what I’m used to. It’ll take so ti to adjust," Xu Ke explained.
"Oh, I see. My mistake. If you’re unwell, you can start tomorrow," Lu Xun offered.
