"Grandmaster dares stand before us when even Lords cower in fear when we appear?" The closest Overlord bellowed, unleashing the full extent of its aura.

Instantly Michael was hit with a wave of nausea that he was never ant to endure.

His instincts of self-preservation scread at him in fear to flee with his life.

"Forsake it." Michael muttered, his eyes starting to gleam crimson. "Disregard any trace of hesitation and fear. It’s not like I have anything to lose anyway."

A second later his figure moved, pouncing towards the nearest threat.

"Do not interfere!" The targeted Overlord proclaid. "I shall deal with this insect alone!"

BOOM!

A cloud of smoke rose high in the air, caused by their clash, instantly catching the attention of the nearby civilians.

"There is a soldier left to defy the aliens?"

"Don’t waste this chance! Sneak away while he distracts them!"

In a bizarre twist of fate, Michael’s interference with the Overlords gave the civilians extra ti to flee the area. Indirectly his actions saved tens of thousands of lives in the process.

"How do you move so fast?!" The Overlord roared, using its psychokinesis ability to send nurous flying shards towards him.

Of course there was no way to know that after witnessing the death of his sister, Michael had attained a new kind of technique that raised his attributes in exchange for his sanity. It was similar to the Berserker technique he had attained in his second life but several tis more potent.

"Your end is near!" Michael proclaid, moving past the flying debris, unbothered by the wounds he received in the process.

Outside the smoke where the battle took place, the two other Overlords awaited patiently for their ally to co out victorious.

Unbeknownst to Michael, these were the sa three Overlords responsible for Neptune’s downfall. In the original tiline, after the fall of the two ice giants, they turned their attention to the next planet in the solar system, where they clashed with Michael.

"I presu I can leave things to you." One of the two Overlords remarked. In its eyes, it was a waste of ti to wait for their ally to exterminate Michael. After all, the human was just a re Grandmaster. His death was only a matter of ti.

The ti would be better spent getting rid of the civilians.

Turning its back, the Overlord prepared to chase after the unfortunate souls that would be unable to defend themselves.

Swoosh!

At that mont a bloodied figure erged out of the smoke. Capitalizing on the mont of opportunity, Michael drove his weapon through the back of the Overlord’s skull, killing it on the spot.

Usually such a feat was impossible. However, since the alien had made the mistake of letting its guard down, it paid the consequences with its life.

"Second down."

Michael spoke coldly, retracting his blade, shifting his gaze to the last Overlord.

"Preposterous!" The alien roared in anger.

Michael was clearly at death’s door. His left hand was missing, his right eye socket was empty, and nurous wounds were carved across his chest as he bled profusely.

Yet, despite his state, he had defeated two Overlords this fast?!

"Prepare to et your maker!" Michael roared, charging in.

With a grimace, the Overlord effortlessly sent him flying. Now that Michael had exhausted most of his strength, his chances of victory were virtually zero.

"I can’t believe these two morons lost to a fucking Grandmaster!" The Overlord shouted, frustrated that they hadn’t tead up against the human from the very beginning.

"Your end will not be swift! I’ll ensure the final monts of your miserable life are spent in agony!" The alien proclaid, stepping closer.

’Ah... This might be the end for .’ Michael sighed. His right hand was bent at a weird angle. He had lost any chance of retaliation.

"What a miserable life this was. In the end I didn’t manage to achieve a single thing that I can be proud of..." He chuckled darkly. Gradually excruciating pain overwheld his senses, forcing him to wait for his inevitable end.

"...?!"

Yet a few seconds later the pain that had been plaguing his body disappeared, as if it had never been there in the first place.

’Am I dead?’ He wondered, opening his eye only to see that the Overlord stood a few ters ahead of him, its face laced with confusion and fear.

"AHHHH! It burns! Make it stop!"

Suddenly blood began to seep out of the alien’s eye sockets. Its limbs, torso, and head began to rotate at impossible angles.

Crack!

A few seconds later the body of the Overlord dropped to the ground lifelessly.

’What happened?’ Michael wondered, confused by the lack of pain and sudden death of the alien.

"I apologize for the delay. The alert about the Overlords ca while I was in the midst of a battle. I couldn’t get here any sooner."

A feminine voice drifted into Michael’s ears. Raising his gaze, he spotted a woman that had stepped over the corpse of the Overlord. Her high heel pierced deep into the monster’s skull, as her crimson eyes stared at the being in disdain.

Noticing a gaze on her, she t Michael’s eye. Her crimson hair, which cascaded down to her waist, shifted to the side as she drew nearer.

"I express my utmost gratitude. Had it not been for your tily intervention, the Overlords wouldn’t have hesitated to lay complete waste to the city before shifting their sights on other settlents. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that you have saved the lives of millions of humans."

Michael scoffed coldly. "So what? I am not a hero. It’s not like I saved them out of my goodwill. They simply capitalized on the last monts of my life."

The woman’s eyes narrowed. "This is not how I see it. Regardless of the reason, the fact remains. A Grandmaster halted the advance of three Overlords, managing to slay two in the process. I dare say no individual has achieved such a feat as long as humanity has existed."

Weakly he shook his head. "I don’t care about that. With no reason to fight or live, I wouldn’t be breathing for long anyway."

"That... Will be such a waste." The woman said in dejection, crouching low. Her dress moved to the side, showcasing her slender legs beneath.

"If you really have no reason to live, how about I give you one? Beco a mber of my faction and evolve into sobody that strikes primal fear in the hearts of the aliens."

Michael didn’t refuse her invitation right away. Even in his exhausted state, where he couldn’t gauge the strength of a cultivator, he could guess that the woman before him was probably the strongest person he had ever t, considering her beauty. As usual, the two things were interconnected.

"Who even are you to be offering such a thing?" He asked in skepticism.

An amused smile tugged at the woman’s face as she put her palm over his cheek, healing his injuries instantaneously.

"I am Nicole." She said in an even voice. "A Supre Lord and the second strongest mber of the Sacred Order."

Once she finished healing him, she got up and extended her hand towards him.

"So how about it? Would you join in my vengeance against the aliens?"

As Michael was busy reliving his mories while absorbing the spiritual energy of the Overlord’s heart, he was gently shaken away from his trance.

"Are you okay? We are about to reach Earth, and the spiritual energy ran out a few hours ago, but you remained in your cultivating position, so I got worried." Ava said with a concerned voice.

"..."

Michael blinked a few tis, getting accustod back to reality.

"Yes, I am fine, thank you for your concern. I was just dreaming about the past." He said with a warm smile.

Ava arched an eyebrow. "Dreaming while cultivating? What was it about?"

Hesitation flashed across Michael’s face. A second later he decided to give her the short version.

"The dream was about my love."

"L—Love?!" Ava exclaid in shock, her eyes narrowing to the size of needles.

With a chuckle, Michael shook his head before glancing at the system interface.

With the spiritual energy the Overlord’s heart emitted absorbed, he couldn’t help but wonder how much he had grown, thanks to it.
