All of Them

For a mont sothing gentle was visible, behind his eyes. It was not doubt or fear. It was an steady confidence. The kind of confidence that the man had was strong. This confidence did not need to be loud to be noticed. The confidence of the man was very strong. It showed in his eyes.

That thing was there. Then it was gone really fast.. It stayed with like when you hear a bell ringing and it keeps echoing in your mind you know, a clear and strong sound that cos from sowhere deep inside.

I believe in my king Black went on his voice was very calm but it ant a lot. My king will do what needs to be done.. So will we we will do what my king says because we believe in my king too.

He went to his side. Pulled out a big stack of papers moving them across the table very carefully. The stack of docunts landed with a thud it was heavy enough to make the table shake a little. So of the docunts slipped out their white edges going up and down like they were not sure if they should fly away or not. The docunts were still the table was still. The docunts were just sitting there like they were waiting for sothing to happen to the docunts.

Black said these are the applications from the n who wanted to join the army. The army did not want them. He tapped the stack of papers with his knuckle. The old governnt decided these n were not good enough. Black looked at the stack. Said these are the applications, from the n who were turned away. The n who applied to join the army but the previous governnt said no they are not suitable.

The word just stayed there it was really bitter. It felt sharp. The word was bitter and it was sharp it was, like that.

It was really quiet. Nobody said a word. The police officers who were sitting at the table did not move all. They just sat there like statues. The room felt like it was getting smaller and smaller, around the police officers. Every single breath they took sounded loud. It was like they were all afraid to breathe because it was so quiet. The police officers just sat there frozen and did not do anything.

Blacks gaze did not waver. His voice beca very quiet. It was not a whisper. It was sothing colder. Blacks voice was calm. You could hear the steel, in it.

We need to send a summons to every person on that list. Every na has to get one. The military is doing a re-evaluation. It starts now. They all have to co and join the army again. We are talking about every one of the people on that list. The military re-evaluation is in effect. They all need to report back, to the army.

The two n looked at him. They did not just look at him for a second. They kept looking at him with a calmness. It was the kind of calmness that happens when sothing big is really going on. It is too much to understand. It was like he had just asked the two n to do sothing like pull the sky down with their hands.

You want all of the things?

The words could hardly co out of the officers mouth. The officers Adams apple went up and down as he swallowed hard. "There is no guarantee that the people will accept. "

Black stopped him saying it like he ant it. "They will" he. That was that.

He leaned forward. Put his arms on the desk. This was a move but it made everyone look at him. His eyes got really tough and serious they looked of scary. The room felt like it was moving towards him like he was pulling everything in. His eyes were like the eyes of a person who’s not afraid to fight they were the eyes of a person who is used to being, in charge. The mans eyes were hard and sharp they were the eyes of the man.

He said this in a voice. Not everyone will do sothing about it. Maybe not most people will.. There are enough people who will. You could see the tension, in his face. His mouth was tight. People can feel that sothing big is going to happen. They know the ground is moving under their feet. So people think this is their chance to do sothing that matters. He kept looking ahead. He did not look away. The People who step forward will be taken by him. He will take every man who steps forward.

His voice got really low and rough. It was not loud. It was not angry but it was heavy. It felt like his voice had sothing, inside it like iron.

Do what I told you to do. After that you should go away. Leave alone.

The two officers looked at each other. One of the officers felt really uneasy, about it. The other officer was already thinking about what this would an. They both knew that this was not sothing they could just say no to. The two officers understood that they had to do what they were told.

The people stood up. They started gathering the docunts. They picked up the papers carefully like the papers had beco heavy all of a sudden. When they got to the door one of the people stopped. He turned around. Looked back and he waited for just a little bit too long.

The man looked at the Commander. Said: The Commander, how many soldiers do we plan to get exactly? We need to know the number of soldiers we are going to recruit.

Black did not blink. The look on his face did not change,. The air in the room changed. The Black guy just stayed still. Only the air, around him seed different.

The man asked how many people applied for the army before. He spoke in a calm voice it was almost like he was not really there.

"About—"

Black said that. He said it like this: all of the people every application, every man who is willing to serve. Black really ant all of them every application that cos in every man who wants to serve.

The words fell like iron on stone. It was a hard thing to hear. The words just kept falling like iron hitting the stone floor. They were so harsh that they made feel bad. The words fell like iron, on stone. It was very painful to listen to them.

Silence.

The two officers looked at each other before they turned around to face him again. The two officers were really surprised. The two officers mouths fell open a little bit.

One person said "You are serious?" with a tone.

The other person started to say sothing. "You want that many" they said, then they stopped talking all of a sudden.

Blacks eyes got hard.

He said this in a voice. He was not asking for anything. He was saying what the computer program needs. The computer program needs this to work properly. He was talking about what’s necessary, for the computer program.

The words were not raised. They did not need to be raised. The words just stayed as they were.

The man did not sound angry or upset when he spoke. There was no anger, in his voice no threat. This is what made the situation so scary. He sounded like a man who had already thought about what it would cost and had decided that the blood of the people involved was worth it. The blood was what mattered to him. He was willing to do whatever it took to get what he wanted even if it ant hurting people and spilling more blood.

He lifted his chin a bit. The light from the torch moved across the picture of a naga on his chestplate. The naga was shaped like a coil and it looked like it was moving it was so shiny. The golden naga, on his chestplate really caught the light from the torch.

We really need people. We need a lot of people. Leon is not going to stop what he is doing. He looked at all the officers staring at each one of them so they could not look away. Leon will take one piece of land. Then another piece of land and when Leon moves forward...

A brief pause.

We are his sword and shield. This is a responsibility. If we do not get ready then we are letting him down. We have to make sure we are prepared because he is counting on us and we are his sword and shield.

The air felt really tight all of a sudden. It was like the air was squeezing in around . The air seed to get heavier. That made everything feel pretty uncomfortable. The air was definitely tighter than it was before.

The officers all swallowed. It was a thing to do. Nobody wanted to be the person to talk to be the one who said out loud what those words really ant. The officers just did not know what to say about this. Several officers were waiting for soone to speak up about those words.

One of them finally did speak up. The sound of his voice was really quiet. You could hardly hear it.

"Understood... commander."

"Good," Black said. "Send word to every city by dawn. The announcent must spread fast."

They snapped into motion, hands to chests, heads bowed. The heavy doors groaned as they were pulled open, and the officers filed out into the corridor. Their boots echoed once... twice... and then were swallowed by the gloom beyond.

And then the room fell into a deep, tense silence.

Only two figures remained.

Commander Black.

Vice Commander Johny.

Johny let out a slow whistle, leaning back in his chair, arms crossing over his chestplate.

The tal gave a dull, tired creak beneath the shift of his weight.

"You really are trying to kill yourself with work," he said softly, a thin edge of worry hiding beneath the casual tone.

Black didn’t respond.

Not yet.

The only sound was the faint crackle of fla and the scratch of parchnt beneath Black’s fingers. His eyes stayed on the scattered reports, on the maps stained with ink and half-erased plans. They might as well have been battlefields already.

Johny tilted his head, studying his friend. The humor slipped from his face, replaced by sothing quieter — heavier.

"...This the path you choose, huh?" he murmured. "No turning back now."

Black finally looked up.

His gaze didn’t waver, but there was sothing tired behind it — not weakness, just the weight of knowing exactly what this road demanded.

Black looked down at the papers, then at the empty chairs, then finally at the door where the officers had disappeared.

Each empty seat felt like a silent accusation, a reminder of how many people were already bound to the choices made in this room.

His voice ca out quiet.

Firm.

Unshakable.

"There’s no turning back for any of us."

The words weren’t dramatic. They didn’t need to be. They carried the certainty of a door already closed, of bridges already burning behind them.

The torches flickered, shadows crawling across the black granite like restless ghosts.

The light twisted and stretched, warping the walls into sothing that almost looked alive — watching, waiting.

The two n sat in the middle of it all—the weight of a rising kingdom settling around them—alone in a world preparing for war.
