"Clothes?"
As Hao Jian flicked the dirt with the dagger in his hand, his eyes instantly narrowed, for mixed within the scattered dirt were tattered pieces of clothing.
Aside from the soil's stains, there were faint green marks on these fragnts, marks that Hao Jian was very familiar with.
"Are these from those who failed the Biochemical Venom transformation?"
He flicked the dirt again, and a rank odor seeped from within, causing Hao Jian to frown deeply, then relax.
Slowly standing up, he surveyed the small forest, noticing that the soil was rather loose, suggesting frequent disturbances.
"Is this a place for burying bodies?"
Gently clenching his fist, Hao Jian's gaze grew cold; if his guess was correct, this was where the organization buried those who failed and died in the transformation process.
"Truly damned!"
The actions of these people incensed Hao Jian, as they clearly disregarded human life!
With a tap of his toes on the ground, he swiftly leaped onto a tree, dodging nurous surveillance caras, and eventually arrived at the hill's summit.
Upon surveying the area, Hao Jian's eyes grew exceptionally grave; just on the hill's periter alone, he spotted over a hundred surveillance caras, so pinhead-sized, easily missed if not for his careful observation.
At this mont, his steps halted before him, fifty centiters away, lay a dark hole—the base's air intake. Exterior air was channeled through this entrance, while next to it was an exhaust outlet for expelling the base's waste gases.
This hill was dotted with such ducts, over a dozen pairs to be exact, mostly hidden within vegetation, which made them difficult to notice.
The one before Hao Jian was one of such pairs, yet the fifty-centiter distance proved a tricky challenge for him.
Reaching into his jacket, he pulled out a pair of glasses, pressed a button on the fra, and a dense matrix of red lines appeared before his eyes.
The lines were extrely dense, scattered below them lay countless insect carcasses, charred black, crumbling into dust at a re touch.
"Fortunately, I ca prepared; otherwise, this alone would give endless trouble."
Staring at the infrared lines, Hao Jian sternly tapped his watch, causing its face to suddenly open, revealing several antennas.
"A little over a second should be enough to leap across."
The watch's function was to temporarily disable the infrared detection, though only for under two seconds, just enough for this fifty-centiter gap; if it were over three ters, it would be a very different story.
"Beep!"
Without hesitation, Hao Jian tapped the watch, the dense red infrared lines before his eyes vanished mysteriously in a blink.
"Boom!"
At the very instant the infrared lines vanished, Hao Jian stomped the ground fiercely, darting forward like an arrow loosed from a bow, leaping into the intake vent in under a second.
"Clang..."
A soft sound followed as Hao Jian propped himself against the walls of the fifty-centiter-wide vent, peering downward; he shifted to brace with his feet, pressing a button on his glasses to reveal the environnt below.
Another mass of densely packed infrared sensors.
"Sigh, whoever designed this base layout is truly ticulous!"
Hao Jian sighed internally, grateful he hadn't jumped down imdiately—had he done so, he wouldn't have known how he ended up in trouble.
The outer security was manageable, even if triggered accidentally, Hao Jian was confident he could evade any ensuing bullets and escape unhard.
But this passage was a different matter; with just a glance, Hao Jian spotted nurous motion-activated explosives, camouflaged with the passageway walls.
Inattentive movent could easily trigger these bombs; should they detonate here, a semi-enclosed space, the explosion's force would geotrically amplify.
Utilizing his tried-and-true thod to again solve the infrared issue, Hao Jian cautiously jumped to a safe spot without explosives before slowly descending to the bottom of the vent.
"Tap..."
Upon reaching the vent's bottom, he found himself by an enormous exhaust fan, spanning ten ters in diater, encompassing several adjacent ventilation shafts.
Though at the vent's bottom, it was more accurately described as a corner zone, as the system was designed to prevent mixing of incoming and outgoing air by isolating the intake from the exhaust fan.
Hao Jian was situated at this very corner.
"Damn it!"
About to proceed through the corner, Hao Jian's heart sank as he cursed inwardly with frustration, for yet again another infrared sensor set up like those before appeared before him.
The weapon behind this sensor, however, is a bit different this ti. It's a massive rocket launcher, and the power of this thing once it explodes is certainly not sothing to take lightly.
At the mont, Hao Jian employed his old thod, intending to bypass this rocket launcher after dodging the infrared beams, and continue infiltrating ahead.
"Beep, beep, beep..."
A string of warning sounds suddenly rang in Hao Jian's ears. When he looked up, he discovered that a small device under the rocket launcher was flashing a red light and making sounds.
Upon seeing this situation, Hao Jian's face changed drastically; the rocket launcher had been activated!
"When did this happen?! I clearly didn't touch any chanism here?!"
No ti to think further, Hao Jian's eyes narrowed, and in a millisecond, his hand fiercely slapped the intake wall beneath him. With imnse force, he tore open the wall, and without hesitation, dove straight into it.
"Boom!"
As Hao Jian erged entirely from the gap he tore open, a deafening explosion sounded behind him, and he saw a massive ball of fire enveloping him.
"Bang!"
Seconds later, Hao Jian, engulfed in flas, rushed out of the explosion, finally landing on the ground with staggering steps, looking rather disheveled.
"I clearly avoided it just now; how could it have been activated? What went wrong?"
Although Hao Jian looked quite displeased, he shook his head the next mont. Given such a commotion, he believed that the people inside this base must have reacted by now.
"Hehehe, of course, it was I who pressed the activator!"
Just as Hao Jian intended to survey the area to understand his situation, a cold laughter suddenly ca from not far away, and at that mont, Hao Jian's face drastically changed.
"Asian?"
When Hao Jian turned his head, Danitte's handso face suddenly showed a look of surprise.
"It seems this base's setup is sowhat beyond my expectations."
Looking at Danitte, a cold smirk curled up on Hao Jian's lips; his words were unclear whether they were mocking or complinting.
"Asian, no matter what your intent in infiltrating here is, encountering , Danitte, the God of Death, today ans you must leave your life here!"
Perhaps because he had stayed in this underground base for many years, used to slaughter, Danitte didn't waste any words. Grabbing the remote control in his hand, he pressed one of the buttons.
"Today, you shall experience my newly acquired weapon."
Danitte spoke to himself, ignoring Hao Jian. After pressing the button, he turned around gracefully, and behind him, two large doors slowly opened.
"God of Death?"
Upon hearing Danitte's nickna, Hao Jian suddenly felt like laughing. These days, everyone loves using such domineering nicknas.
Just as he was about to mock Danitte a few tis, his eyes suddenly narrowed because he saw that from behind the two doors opening behind Danitte, innurable sounds of gnawing were coming through, along with a thick murderous aura.
"This is going to be a bit troubleso!"
The mont those two doors opened, Hao Jian's face beca extrely grave because walking out of those doors was a group of people; their eyes glowing red, with many parts of their bodies showing tallic luster.
This group consisted of at least a hundred people, and Hao Jian sensed an extrely dangerous aura from among these hundred.
"Hahaha, what do you think, Asian? These hundred death attendants are my subordinates, my god's gift to !"
"Idiot."
Seeing the brainwashed Danitte, Hao Jian shook his head speechlessly.
"Asian, what did you say?!"
How could a noble white man like Danitte be despised by such a barbarian?! Enraged by Hao Jian's words, Danitte no longer cared for anything. He directly pressed the remote control in his hand and shouted at Hao Jian: "Get him, tear apart this disrespectful guy!"
"Swish, swish, swish..."
As Danitte pressed the button, the hundred Transford People suddenly had their eyes light up with a scarlet glow. Imdiately, they began to stride toward Hao Jian.
During their run, they extracted all sorts of weapons from their bodies, so of which injured nearby Transford People in the process.
Instantly, before they even reached their target, blood splattered everywhere.
After all, they're just Transford People, with many body parts still being flesh. This self-harm rendered five or six Transford People incapacitated.
