Chapter 1301: Chapter 1299: Shen Hao!

“Just stop here, my ho is in this alley…”

As Hao Jian drove to the entrance of an alley, Shen Ling’s voice ca over, prompting Hao Jian to lightly press the brakes, bringing the car to a steady stop at the entrance.

“Don’t worry, just park here. There aren’t many people here during the day; most are out working, so it won’t disrupt traffic at the entrance.”

Shen Ling pointed to the quiet alley and spoke to Hao Jian, who, hearing her assurance, dismissed the idea of driving the car to a more open spot.

After getting out of the car, Hao Jian followed behind Shen Ling, walking slowly into the alley…

Shen Ling’s ho wasn’t far, and after walking for a while through the alley, there was a civilian house around the middle. It wasn’t a small building but more like a rural courtyard.

Of course, it wasn’t exactly a courtyard, just a house with a large yard.

However, upon reaching there, Hao Jian frowned slightly. The house seed weathered; both the exterior wall paint and the wooden door looked sowhat dilapidated.

“Haha!”

As Hao Jian and Shen Ling arrived at the entrance and she prepared to push the door open, a burst of laughter suddenly ca from inside the house. Upon hearing this laughter, Shen Ling’s face changed slightly.

“What’s wrong?”

Hao Jian was curious about Shen Ling’s sudden change in expression, but seeing her slightly panicked eyes, his gaze flickered slightly. He might have guessed whose voice it was.

Judging by the voice, its owner was certainly a young man, and one who could laugh loudly in Shen Ling’s ho was likely her younger brother.

“You should leave…”

Having brought her here, Shen Ling didn’t want Hao Jian to be mistreated by her brother, and she spoke anxiously to Hao Jian.

She initially thought no one was ho and wanted to invite Hao Jian in for a glass of water. But to her surprise, while she expected no one to be ho at that ti, her brother was…

After all, her brother was soone who loafed around, never surprising her whenever he was ho. However, typically, he didn’t have the habit of coming ho in the afternoon.

Even though she was puzzled, at this point, inviting Hao Jian in for water wasn’t an option; she could only urge him to leave. Her brother was involved with gangs, and how could soone like Hao Jian withstand street arrogance?

Unfortunately, Hao Jian rely chuckled softly: “Just go ahead and lead the way; after all, isn’t there still no matter what happens?”

“There’s a saying, if you’re helping soone, see it through. I’m just helping you out, and even if I get beat up, I’ll still help as promised.”

After saying that, disregarding Shen Ling’s anxious eyes, he reached out and pushed the door open…

Seeing Hao Jian’s actions, Shen Ling instinctively wanted to stop him, but no matter how fast she was, she couldn’t be faster than Hao Jian opening the door!

“Creak…”

The sound of the door opening ca, and as it slowly let in not-too-strong sunlight, Hao Jian gradually saw what lay beyond the door. The laughter inside abruptly ceased with the door’s opening.

“Tap, tap, tap…”

Hao Jian, stepping in as if he belonged there, walked inside, and seeing this, Shen Ling quickly followed, though her heart was anxious. She regretted it, regretting why she brought Hao Jian along.

She knew her brother’s nature; he was the type that wouldn’t spit out bones if he ate soone. If she weren’t his sister, her looks might have caused her brother to have sold her long ago.

In the courtyard, there were a few Taishi Chairs, with people lying on each. One of them had already risen, looking at Hao Jian with an unfriendly expression.

This person was dressed in colorful clothes, his hair also colored, with a Zhonghua cigarette dangling from his lips. He sat cross-legged, exuding the aura of a spoilt child.

His unfriendly gaze lingered on Hao Jian for a while, then shifted to the anxious Shen Ling behind him, causing a cold smirk to form on his lips.

“Shen Ling, why did you co back only now?”

The man sneered, his tone arrogant: “Where’s the money I asked you to get? Did you get it?”

Without waiting for Shen Ling to respond, he pointed at a few young n dressed similarly beside him and said, “See these four? They’re my brothers, and they rely on to support them.”

“You’ve got the money, so hurry up and give it to . We need it!”

This young man is Shen Ling’s brother, nad Shen Hao. Since childhood, he’s had the love and indulgence of his parents, and his life has been smooth sailing. His character beca fearless of everything, even in school, where his antics nearly got him expelled.

He’s now in college, but unfortunately, this guy is still idle, and his hands aren’t very clean. He’s stolen quite a few things from roommates and classmates. Eventually, he got caught red-handed during a theft, which caused a commotion with the school.

Since he was caught, he was directly expelled from school. Now, he’s fallen to becoming a mber of the street gangsters, bullying people daily or roaming around acting arrogant—and sotis resorting to robbery.

Of course, they do these things quite discreetly. After all, they’re no longer children, and they need to bear legal responsibility now.

But he’s been in the police station a few tis, which has further tarnished his reputation. Yet, even so, he’s proud of it. He constantly brags about these incidents in the sa circle, as if it’s his bragging capital.

“I… I…”

Standing behind Hao Jian, Shen Ling beca flustered upon hearing this matter, her pretty face nervous, hands unsure of what to do. Shen Hao noticed her behavior, and his face darkened imdiately.

“Didn’t get the money?!”

His voice was angry. He suddenly stood up from the Taishi Chair, his fierce gaze fixating on Shen Ling, yelling, “Since the day before yesterday, I told you I need three thousand yuan. And now? It’s been days?! You still haven’t got it for ?!”

“When I asked you for money before, you gave it to quickly! Back then, ten thousand, twenty thousand was nothing! But now? I have to wait days for three thousand yuan?! Tell , do you want to stay here or not?!”

Upon hearing this, Shen Ling’s heart grew even more anxious. This incident had passed for a long ti. Back then, Shen Hao needed two thousand yuan to get a gangster buddy out of the police station, so he directly asked her for two thousand yuan.

But she had just started working, and suddenly needing to fetch two thousand yuan was sothing she just couldn’t manage. Yet, failing to do so would result in Shen Hao beating her up.

With no other choice, Shen Ling borrowed from old classmates. After piecing together small amounts, they managed to gather the money, and she handed over two thousand yuan to Shen Hao.

But what about her life after that? She worked desperately, sotis holding ten jobs in a day, with no ti for sleep, to et Shen Hao’s demands, her own living expenses, and constant debts.

Only a few months ago, Shen Ling slowly patched up the holes with the money she squeezed out.

Thinking she could relax afterwards, she didn’t expect the factory to close down, leaving her without a steady job, and now Shen Hao was asking for money again…

“No… no money…”

Shen Ling tightly gripped Hao Jian’s clothes, biting her lip before saying these words. As the words left her mouth, despair showed on her face, because whenever Shen Hao heard them, he would definitely vent on her…

“What? No money?!”

As soon as Shen Ling said she had no money, Shen Hao’s face beca increasingly ugly, and the eyes of the few gangsters around him flashed with anger.

They are all idle people who have no regular inco. Besides robbery or extorting protection fees, they have no source of inco, relying on Shen Hao’s support.

Now Shen Ling says she has no money, which ans they have no money to spend!

“I… I really have no money…”

Shen Ling was close to tears, seeing the five vicious-looking n, she wanted to die. Originally, if all went well today, she could’ve obtained money using the fleece trick. But now? The trick failed, and she secretly stashed two thousand yuan in Hao Jian’s car while still owing Hao Jian one thousand yuan!

How could she possibly have other money? She had five to six hundred yuan left as her living expenses for the month, which had to last until she found a job and received a salary!

“Co here!”

Shen Hao, lying back into the Taishi Chair, had an extrely unpleasant expression, and as he laid back, the four gangsters who had stood up also laid back.

Upon hearing Shen Hao’s voice, Shen Ling hesitated, looking at the ground worriedly, then clenching her teeth, she released Hao Jian’s clothes and walked out…

This woman…

Seeing Shen Ling leave his area of protection, Hao Jian felt helpless. These were other people’s family matters, and Hao Jian couldn’t interfere. So, from the beginning until now, he was just an observer. Shen Hao wasn’t interested in causing trouble for him either but rather had a keen interest in Shen Ling’s money.

Otherwise, when he pushed the door open earlier, Shen Hao might have made a big deal out of it.
