When Brother Zhang spoke, he was extrely arrogant, completely shedding his previous timidity. It was clear that he had recovered from the surprise and, after realizing what was happening, was now confident and fearless.

He understood that police investigations revolve around evidence, and arresting soone also requires evidence; otherwise, they cannot arrest soone without cause. When they entered just now, he wasn't holding a knife nor was he involved in the fight, so he was utterly unafraid.

At most, they could say he had a wound on his head from participating in a fight, but they absolutely could not pin the charges of entering a house to molest a girl or to commit violence on him, as said by the lead officer.

He's not stupid; fighting counts as a minor offense, and even if there is evidence, he'd at most spend a few days in custody. But if charged with molestation or breaking into soone's ho to commit violence, then no matter how eloquent or capable he is, there's no way he could get out of the police station.

The consequence would be prison, a long prison sentence.

He's not stupid. The lead officer's words were very clear; they were putting all this on him. Although these things really happened, if he admitted them, it would be a dead end. But if he firmly denied doing them, as long as there was no solid evidence, the police couldn't do anything.

At most, they'd say he's obstructing official duties and keep him for a few days. But admitting to molestation and breaking in would make matters much more complicated, and he couldn't handle it, no matter his abilities; he'd be locked up for a long ti.

Knowing this, he continuously denied the facts, speaking forcefully, making it so the police couldn't do anything despite their presence. After all, in a law-abiding society, everything requires evidence, and without evidence, the police are powerless against him.

However, when the police arrived, they hadn't seen anything related to him. Could they have evidence? That's why he was so fearless now because the police couldn't do anything without it.

So, what was there to be afraid of? Turning to look at the summoned gangsters, he felt a sense of ridicule; damn, what kind of people were they? Afraid of a little incident like this; luckily, he didn't take them for any "big jobs," or they'd confess everything when faced with a minor problem.

He laughed inside and then turned his gaze to the lead officer, seeing him remain silent following his remarks, considering himself victorious.

He then looked at the lead officer and laughed, saying, "Since you don't have evidence and grab people randomly, do you believe I'll report you? What's your badge number? I'll report you to the station imdiately!"

After speaking, he shifted his gaze to the ard police and loudly said, "What are you staring at? Release them all, or do you believe I won't report each one of you."

He knew that officials feared being reported. Once reported, it often ant not just salary deductions but also criticism and demotion from superiors. So, threatening to report was effective this ti, and he brought up reporting again.

But after he spoke, anticipating the ard police would release the people imdiately, ti passed, yet the ard police didn't react, acting as if they hadn't heard him.

Seeing them unmoved, he was instantly furious, angrily saying, "What are you standing around for? Do you think I'm kidding? Hurry up and release them, or I'll report each of you one by one!"

During this commotion, the scene had grown chaotic, drawing a spectator crowd outside. However, since police maintained order, the crowd wasn't large, and those trying to gather were pushed away by the police.

Seeing this, Brother Zhang frowned deeply, realizing drag the matter until quitting ti or when people return might lead to disadvantages for him, possibly prompting so to move out because of this.

He grew imdiately angrier, taking out his phone to dial, saying, "Damn it, telling you to release them; if not, do you believe I'll make the call now and report you?"

He'd spoken to this extent, and if the lead officer didn't have them released, then he was prepared to take real action.

Anyway, they didn't have the evidence to do anything against him, and if pushed, threatening his interests, do they believe he wouldn't retaliate?

As he considered acting out, his expression hadn't changed, but suddenly the lead officer approached him, swiftly snatching the phone from his hand.

He was ready to resist but hadn't reacted in ti, and the phone was already in the lead officer's possession.

He looked at him angrily, thinking his words had intimidated him, fearing being reported and leading him to grab the phone imdiately, so he said arrogantly, "What's wrong? Afraid of being reported? If you fear being reported, you'd better release them at once, or I have ways to report you!"

The lead officer held his phone, glancing at it, then handed it to an officer beside him. He smiled at Brother Zhang, saying, "Heh... if you think you can get away with it, feel free to keep bragging."

Brother Zhang smiled, thinking, if he had evidence, he would have acted long ago rather than spouting nonsense. He knew they wanted to coax him into saying sothing incriminating. Did they think he was a child to be easily fooled? He wouldn't fall for their trap.

However, this thought lingered in his mind, as suddenly the lead officer took out another phone, played a recording file.

Hearing it, he imdiately understood that this recording was given to him by Hao Jian earlier, aning Hao Jian had secretly handed it over to the police.

His expression tightened; without evidence, he was righteous, but with the recording in police hands, he lost that confidence.

Though he knew the recording alone wouldn't prove much, serving only as insufficient evidence, at best keeping him in custody for a few days, it couldn't convict him.

Denial would still leave him unscathed.

So, his panicked face quickly transford into calmness, smiling, "Ha-ha… Officer, you're joking, right? What's this supposed to prove? Does this an I committed molestation or violence? Does your station operate subjectively like this?"

He wasn't overtly criticizing the station, but his words implied it was problematic, obvious to any discerning ear.

Yet the lead officer remained unaffected, turning away from Brother Zhang to tell his n, "Grab the knives and such off the ground and take them to the station for fingerprint analysis!"

His n imdiately acted, picking up the discarded knives and placing them in a clear bag.

Seeing this, Brother Zhang was shocked; those knives indeed held fingerprints, and testing them at the station would connect the people to this matter.

If they were involved, sentints were thin in the underworld; relationships were largely for self-interest. If tied to this, they'd likely confess everything, even without police questioning.

Thinking everything was foolproof, he hadn't considered this aspect, causing his face to change dramatically; if things progressed here, escape wouldn't be simple.

Suddenly, once fierce, his deanor shifted to a flattering smile at the lead officer, moving closer, saying, "Officer, could we perhaps bend the rules a bit on this matter?"

His words were indirect, but anyone could understand the underlying aning.

He looked at the lead officer with intention, signaling if leniency was possible, he wouldn't treat him poorly, at least financially.

Although money isn't everything, without it, nothing works. It doesn't solve everything, but most troubles are solvable through money.

This was a concept he understood thoroughly.

So now, facing the lead officer, he was confident in resolving the matter through "negotiation."
