Chapter 926: Chapter 925: No Wonder You Would…
“Clang…”
Casually tossing the pipe in his hand aside, Hao Jian let out a light chuckle as he glanced at Chang Zeliang and his n, who were frozen in place, too afraid to move. Then, turning his head, he looked at Xiao Qiang, reached out to touch her hair, and smiled, “I won’t let sothing like this happen again.”
“Kid… don’t… don’t think we’re scared of you!”
A few of Chang Zeliang’s henchn, who had been smashing things earlier, hurried over as they saw their boss being bullied. Seeing this, Chang Zeliang’s spirits were lifted, and he tried to muster so courage to shout back at Hao Jian. But as he focused his gaze on Hao Jian, a wave of cold fear suddenly struck him, and even his voice trembled.
“Oh? Did I ever say I wanted you to be afraid of ?” Hao Jian wrapped an arm around Xiao Qiang’s waist, wearing a sly smirk on his face as he said, “If you want to make your move, then go ahead.”
“Hao Jian, isn’t this a bit too dangerous…”
Hearing her words, Hao Jian raised a finger and lightly tapped Xiao Qiang’s forehead, smiling as he said, “Do you think your man would be the kind of useless guy who can’t handle this?”
“I ant that they might be in danger. I’m worried you’ll kill them,” Xiao Qiang corrected.
“Woo woo woo…”
Just as Chang Zeliang was about to continue bickering with Hao Jian, police sirens suddenly sounded from outside the door. A mont later, the crowd originally gathered by the entrance quickly dispersed, leaving a clear path.
No one dared block the police’s way; they weren’t gutsy enough for that. Upon hearing the police had arrived, everyone imdiately moved aside.
“Looks like a kind soul called the cops on our behalf. So, are you still planning to stand around here?” Hao Jian also heard the sirens outside and flicked his eyes toward Chang Zeliang, chuckling lightly.
“Hmph! Then let’s see whether these cops are on your side or mine!” Unlike other low-level gangsters, Chang Zeliang didn’t fear the arrival of the police. In fact, his eyes seed to light up with expectation. Seeing this, Hao Jian chuckled knowingly—it was clear Chang Zeliang had so sche brewing.
Behind Hao Jian, Xiao Qiang breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing the police were coming. At least she knew about Hao Jian’s influence in Hua City. As long as the cops showed up, no matter how dominant these people were, they wouldn’t dare act tough in front of the authorities.
Only Chang Zeliang remained confident. He was well aware that this area fell under the jurisdiction of the city police departnt, and he happened to know the director. All he had to do was reveal his relationship with the director, and the matter would be resolved.
“Who dares make trouble on my turf?!”
Lin Nantian hopped out of the car and stord into the shop, bellowing as he went, his face showing urgency. As he stepped inside and took in the wrecked display cabinets, his expression darkened. Then, shifting his gaze to the group in the corner, his face turned pale as his eyes landed on a twenty-sothing man in their midst.
“Director Lin!”
Hearing the commotion outside, Chang Zeliang quickly turned around. When he spotted Lin Nantian, his face lit up with joy. They hadn’t expected Lin Nantian himself to show up. Imdiately, he called over his n and strode toward Lin Nantian.
“Director Lin, why did you personally co?” Chang Zeliang greeted obsequiously as he pointed at Hao Jian across the room. “If that guy hadn’t stopped , I’d have already handled things here!”
“Hmph!”
Lin Nantian’s face turned icy as he shot a frosty glare at Chang Zeliang. He waved at the officers behind him and barked, “Take these idiots who’ve lost their minds—arrest them all!”
Lin Nantian was sweating bullets. Damn it! This fool’s going to destroy ! If Young Master Hao sees associated with this nitwit, will he lump in as one of them? If that happens, my career is over!
“Yes, sir!”
The officers behind Lin Nantian responded imdiately, well aware of the weight behind his words. The only person capable of commanding such specific instructions from Lin Nantian had to be Hao Jian. As his subordinates, they naturally recognized Hao Jian and treated him with respect.
If any of them accidentally offended Hao Jian due to ignorance, the consequences would be disastrous—there were already too many lessons learned from people underestimating him.
“What are you… what are you doing?!”
Chang Zeliang watched in horror as the police swiftly subdued his henchn and locked handcuffs around their wrists. His face turned pale as he pointed at the officers in fury, bellowing, “Director Lin told you to arrest him, not my n! It’s that punk, that punk…”
“Click…”
Before Chang Zeliang could finish, an officer stepped forward swiftly and cuffed his hands. Staring at the handcuffs now binding his hands, Chang Zeliang looked at Lin Nantian in confusion, blurting out, “Director Lin, what is the aning of this?”
“What’s my aning?”
Lin Nantian burst out laughing, mockery dripping from his tone. “You don’t even know Young Master Hao—no wonder you’ve ended up like this.”
“For minor matters, I wouldn’t bother dealing with you. But now you’ve gone and provoked Young Master Hao. Even if I wanted to save you, there’s nothing I can do.”
Though Lin Nantian’s words reflected reality, Chang Zeliang refused to believe them. He couldn’t fathom how Lin Nantian, after all the payoffs he’d handed over yearly, could now turn against him!
“Lin Nantian, I don’t care what you an. Just unlock these cuffs right now, or don’t bla if my people…”
Chang Zeliang intended to threaten Lin Nantian, but before he could finish, a black gun barrel pointed directly at him, cutting his words short. Frightened, he imdiately shut his mouth, too scared to utter another word.
If he dared speak another word, that gun might spit fire, and the life it claid would be his.
“Say one more word, and I’ll put a bullet in your head!”
Seeing Chang Zeliang zip his mouth shut, Lin Nantian gave a cold snort, then marched him over to Hao Jian. Standing before Hao Jian, Lin Nantian saluted and said, “Young Master Hao, we’ve apprehended the culprit. He’s ready to face your judgnt.”
“Lin Nantian, why… why?!”
Damn it! How could his life now depend on this punk?! Absolutely not!
Chang Zeliang, unwilling to let his fate be dictated by Hao Jian, turned abruptly despite the gun at his temple, glaring at Lin Nantian as he spat the question out word by word.
“Damn!”
Lin Nantian slapped Chang Zeliang across the face, his expression icy as he sneered. “Originally, I wasn’t going to tell you Young Master Hao’s identity. But you refuse to shut up—so now I’ll spell it out. After you hear it, I’d like to see if you dare question again!”
With that, Lin Nantian cast a glance at Hao Jian to ensure he wasn’t bothered, then coldly scoffed at Chang Zeliang. “I assu you’ve been around here long enough to have heard of Hao Jian, right?!”
Hao Jian?!
Upon hearing the na, Chang Zeliang’s initial confusion quickly morphed into sheer terror, his whole face drained of color.
The na Hao Jian wasn’t unfamiliar to him. He’d heard bits and pieces—how formidable this man was, how no other Hua City bosses dared so much as cross him.
Back during a drinking session, soone of decent status had ntioned Hao Jian casually. That had prompted Chang Zeliang to probe further, hoping to learn more about this figure.
The more he learned, the more his fear grew. Admiration, too. He longed to one day et Hao Jian. But now? Well, now he had indeed t him. But instead of the eting he’d dread of, he found himself on the wrong side—dragged into opposition he had foolishly initiated!
The defiance in his gaze instantly evaporated, replaced by sheer panic. The person he’d provoked today was none other than the undisputed overlord of Hua City!
Soone like him—a nobody scraping by on protection rackets—how could he possibly go up against such a figure?!
“Young Master Hao! Young Master Hao! Please, have rcy! Spare soone as insignificant as ! I’m blind—I didn’t realize this was your turf! If I had known, even a thousand lives wouldn’t have given the guts to trespass!”
Now knowing Hao Jian’s identity, Chang Zeliang threw caution to the wind. With a loud “thump,” he fell to his knees, terror etched across his face. Trembling, he kowtowed repeatedly, begging for forgiveness.
Seeing their boss groveling, his henchn quickly kneeled as well, mimicking their leader as they pleaded desperately.
Witnessing the scene, Lin Nantian wasn’t surprised at all. In fact, he had anticipated such an outco…
