Chapter 1295: Chapter 987: Walking on Thin Ice Chapter 1295: Chapter 987: Walking on Thin Ice Doctor Li Min took a break and returned to his original unit. Although his advanced training was not yet complete, he considered himself to return with a full load. At this mont, he felt both the excitent of his accomplished return and a deep attachnt to this land.

He stepped into the township hospital where he had worked for many years. Although small, the hospital bore the hopes of tens of thousands of local residents. There were only a few dozen doctors and nurses combined, two security guards, and along with administrative, logistics, and other staff, the total number barely exceeded thirty.

Most doctors at the hospital held general practitioner licenses, dealing with cases ranging from internal dicine to surgery, from pediatrics to obstetrics and gynecology. So held assistant doctor licenses, and there were even so without formal dical practice licenses. Although their presence perhaps did not fully comply with regulations, in practice, they were an indispensable part.

The conditions of township hospitals were limited, especially in economically underdeveloped areas. To operate completely according to the dical standards and procedures of big cities was an almost impossible task.

If they strictly adhered to those “rules and regulations,” they would likely not even have enough staff to operate. Thus, doctors here were more like jacks-of-all-trades, trying to et patients’ needs and alleviate their diseases with limited resources.

“The expert from the Provincial City is back!” the Elderly Director, full of vigor and joy, burst out of his office. Taking three steps at a ti, he nearly ran up to Li Min.

The Elderly Director’s face was flushed with health, and he looked spirited. He used to be unable to straighten his back and would walk dragging a leg, which made moving about particularly arduous. Now, that was all in the past; though not as quick as a young man, he moved with ease at least.

Seeing this, Li Min also felt gratified. He smiled at the Elderly Director and said, “Your back really has improved, hasn’t it? You walk with such briskness, you look at least twenty years younger!”

The Elderly Director laughed heartily, clapping Li Min on the shoulder and said, “Just twenty years younger? That’s conservative. Everyone says I have the back of a twenty-year-old now. But to tell the truth, ever since you treated my back last ti, it has indeed gotten better day by day. Are you getting accustod to your studies in the Provincial City?” His words brimd with concern for Li Min.

Li Min nodded and responded with a smile, “It’s been good, and I’ve learned quite a lot. I’ve brought so knowledge back to share, hoping it will help with our hospital’s work.”

The Elderly Director pulled Li Min into his office while several doctors ca up to take Li Min’s luggage. Li Min had also brought so specialty snacks from the Provincial City for everyone to taste, and he asked the doctors who were handling the luggage to distribute them. He also brought two bottles of fine wine for the Elderly Director. This wine was gifted by the magnate Wang Changxin during a dinner where everyone had to drink and take a bottle ho. Li Min didn’t even know what kind of wine it was. To bring this bottle back, he had to carpool in a private vehicle.

The Elderly Director cradled the bottle of wine in his hands, examining it from all angles, “Little Li, it seems my affection for you hasn’t been in vain.”

A few patients waiting for consultation also recognized Li Min and gathered enthusiastically at the door, greeting him warmly. This was the nature of township hospitals: the patients were all local villagers and, after working there a while, one would get to know all of them.

One elder held Li Min’s hand in gratitude and said, “Doctor Li, you have finally co back. The dication you prescribed last ti was very effective. This ti, you must take another look for .” Another mother, with her child in tow, also ca up, “Doctor Li, look at my child’s deford foot. Can you help? ”

“Doctor Li just got back and hasn’t even settled in; let him rest,” one patient said aloud, and everyone imdiately felt apologetic, holding their tongues and leaving the office with an understanding of the situation.

“There’s no need to rush, everyone. I’ll take a short rest and then start the outpatient clinic,” said Li Min, not planning to rest long and eager to get back to work.

The Elderly Director said, “Is there such a hurry? Start work tomorrow.”

“I’m idle anyway, and I slept a few hours on the trip back,” said Li Min, wanting to make the most of every minute of his vacation.

Facing the warmth and expectations of the villagers, Li Min felt the responsibility and mission of being a doctor. He knew that even though he had learned many advanced skills and knowledge in the Provincial City, what was more important here was how to translate that knowledge into practical, local solutions that would truly benefit those in need.

In the township hospital, unlike big city hospitals, the principle of treating patients was to resolve issues as quickly and affordably as possible. A cure was ideal, symptomatic treatnt was necessary when a cure wasn’t viable, and if neither was achieved, it was essential to offer patients direction on where to seek treatnt.

In a grassroots hospital, the legendary “miracle cures” often referred to the “three dicinals and one IV,” steroids, antibiotics, vitamins, and an intravenous drip. These techniques were indeed very effective, and many doctors who spent too much ti in big hospitals struggled in grassroots facilities because they did not grasp the needs of local patients, who desired quick and straightforward treatnt plans.

So, Li Min continually pondered how to adapt the knowledge he acquired in the Provincial City into treatnt plans with local flavor, aning township characteristics. For example, when strengthening nutrition, one could not ask patients to buy certain nutrients; instead, it was more practical to suggest sothing like eating a few eggs a day.

On the first day of the holiday, the news and monts from their phones all shared one feature—tourist spots were crowded, and highways were jamd. Yang Ping was quite puzzled; how co Xia Shu going back to her hotown and the Head Nurse going on vacation were on the sa highway? Even the scenic views on their monts were identical.
