Chapter 1436: Chapter 1073: Unexpected, Impressive! Chapter 1436: Chapter 1073: Unexpected, Impressive! Since Director Luo had invited him for a consultation, and Yang Ping had so ti to spare without the need to rush back, he followed Director Luo to see which patient was being consulted on, and whether he could be of any help.

Professor Su, Director Yuan, and several other directors also moved along, and other doctors and nurses, especially the young doctoral and master graduate students, watched Yang Ping being invited by Director Luo to another ward, and they imdiately followed.

Although Yang Ping would co to Nandu Affiliated Hospital One for consultations or lectures, that would only be once or twice a month. Now, because of Professor Chang’s treatnt, Yang Ping was running over here every day, which was an excellent learning opportunity for these graduate students. Their enthusiasm for learning was still very high; they wished they could stick close to Yang Ping without leaving his side, so they could learn sothing new that wasn’t found in textbooks. Even if there was nothing new, listening to Professor Yang’s few words could broaden their horizons.

For instance, Professor Yang’s novel approach to rabies treatnt, which is a technique not found in any textbook and represents the most advanced technology in the world. They had never heard of any hibernation therapy for rabies before this.

Director Luo led Yang Ping and everyone else to another ward, where an elderly patient, who looked to be in his seventies or eighties, lay in a deep coma. He was connected to various tubes and wires, the distribution of which was exceedingly dense, dense enough that the wires and tubes had to be bundled together with cable ties for ease of identification and managent.

The space in this ward was actually quite ample, but because the patient was using so many machines, most likely every piece of equipnt that could be used was already in use. The multitude of machines crowded the room, occupying most of the space, making the ward seem very cramped.

Because space was so limited, only Director Luo, Yang Ping, Professor Su, and a few other important individuals could stand inside. These individuals also had to stand close to each other, while the rest could only squeeze at the doorway.

Although Yang Ping had seen all sorts of patients, he had never seen a patient like this, probably completely dependent on machines to maintain life; the removal of any tube could bring his life to an abrupt end.

“Patient, male, 82 years old…”

Director Luo personally reported the dical history to Yang Ping, while a doctoral student secretly passed over a dical chart. Yang Ping glanced at the chart and thought this might be the thickest dical history he had ever seen. It was incredibly thick, with the thickness of the paper dical records already pushing the limits of the chart folder, making the plastic covers of the file folder open exaggeratedly wide.

Director Luo declined the clever doctorate’s kind gesture with a wave of his hand: “No need to look at the dical history, this patient has been with us for three years, I can recite his condition backwards.”

When Director Luo saw Yang Ping staring at the dical history, he imdiately understood that the exaggerated thickness might be surprising, and explained: “Actually, the dical records, if stacked, would probably be taller than a person. What you are seeing is just a reorganized portion of the records.”

“You put it on the chart cart,” Director Luo instructed the doctoral student who brought the records and continued to report the dical history.

Indeed, as he said, he didn’t need the junior doctors to report, nor did he need to open the file folder; he could speak it from mory, indeed, he had morized the patient’s history.

Yang Ping listened carefully to the dical history report, frowning slightly, thinking that without a few hours, it would be impossible to finish the report of the history. Director Luo also imdiately realized the problem, and thus said, “Let report the dical history concisely and to the point.”

Even though he summarized the dical history succinctly, it still took Director Luo a full fifteen minutes to report it. Yang Ping organized the patient’s condition in his mind and had a rough understanding of the situation. He thought to himself: Director Luo, you are really treating as a god, a patient who is almost brain-dead, has been in the ICU for three years, and is now entirely reliant on machines to sustain organ function. If any machine is removed, the patient’s heart would imdiately stop. Such patients have no clinical treatnt aning. Now you’ve invited for a consultation; what is the purpose and significance of it? As the head of the ICU, you couldn’t possibly not know that this is a waste of ti. But Yang Ping still patiently listened to Director Luo continue.

“Professor Yang, this patient is over eighty years old, nearing brain death, but the family refuses to give up. Please help us see if there is any hope for this patient. We’ve repeatedly suggested the family let go, but every ti they’ve refused, and they’ve cursed us out very badly. Our beds here are extrely scarce; one bed can save many lives in a year. Now this patient has been in our ICU for more than three years; we have to invest a lot of dical resources every day to keep him alive. It would be great if there was hope for his recovery and discharge from the hospital,” Director Luo said with a sigh.

What situation? Asking Professor Yang for a consultation on a patient close to brain death? Isn’t this a waste of Professor Yang’s ti? The graduate students gathered at the door listened intently to the conversation inside, afraid of missing any important words.

Professor Su had also been listening carefully to Director Luo’s dical history report, but the more he listened, the more sothing seed off. Director Luo omitted the patient’s na in the report, but why did this patient’s condition sound so familiar? So, he gestured, “Let see the dical records.”

The doctoral student behind him respectfully passed the dical chart with both hands, but found it to be weighty, so the doctor and another student jointly held it up for Professor Su to peruse.
