Chapter 1462: Chapter 1089: You Can Get Eggs

Yang Ping usually deals with strategic planning for these research projects, leaving the specific tasks to the laboratory director and the researchers. Since the risks of animal experints aren’t too great, Yang Ping did not personally participate.

After completing the injection of NK cells, Tang Shun and Lu Xiaolu imdiately returned to their own laboratories, waiting by their computers to process the experintal data collected in real-ti, such as the PET-CT images that were about to be produced.

A few young doctoral graduate students were hurrying the experintal pig to the PET-CT room in the radiology departnt. On the way there, the experintal pig was quiet and didn’t make any unusual noises.

Since Liang Fatty was too busy, the anesthesia for today’s experintal pig was administered by a doctoral student instructed by Liang Fatty. His anesthesia skills were evidently not as proficient as Liang Fatty’s, making him uncertain about the dosage, which caused him so worry.

It’s challenging to determine the correct depth of anesthesia for these experintal pigs – it needs to be just right. After anesthesia, the experintal pig should not make trouble; it must remain silent, not even grunt, and definitely not squeal. However, the anesthesia depth should not be so much that it affects breathing, as this would necessitate intubation and ventilator support, preventing the simulation of a tumor patient’s physiological state.

The doctoral student responsible for anesthesia followed the cart transporting the pig anxiously, fearing the pig might make so noise on the way, especially upon reaching the radiology departnt, where a few squeals amidst the gazes of many patients would be very embarrassing and might cause commotion.

Dr. Zhu from PET-CT had been waiting for a while and imdiately ca out to greet the experintal team upon seeing the cart approaching. She then organized the technicians and nurses to start preparations. Of course, to ensure the smooth progress of the experint, this “special patient” had to be allowed to jump the queue.

The doors to the examination room opened, and everyone worked together to push the special patient inside. A patient with sharp eyes in the waiting area saw the mysterious cart being pushed directly inside and realized it was blatant queue-jumping.

“What are you doing?” The woman rushed up and grabbed the cart handle, “I’ve been waiting for a full three hours, and now you want to cut in line?”

They had been discovered! What they feared had co to pass.

Dr. Zhu, who had just co out to greet them, imdiately explained, “This is a special ergency patient whose condition is critical. Please, everyone, understand, understand.” After speaking, she signaled to everyone with her eyes, and they pushed harder together to move inside.

But the woman was physically robust and held tightly on to the cart handle, “Who isn’t in a rush here? Who isn’t pressed for ti? He’s the only one in a hurry? What special person? What ergency? To blatantly cut in line? Must be favoritism, eh?”

Following the woman’s righteous cry, dozens of people in the waiting area imdiately surrounded them, joining the chorus of accusers.

However, there were also reasonable patients who intervened to stop the woman, “The other party has an ergency; saving lives is crucial. Waiting a bit more won’t hurt us.”

“If you want to wait, then wait, but I won’t allow queue jumping. I should be examined first before him. What ergency, what’s not – I’ve waited three hours, and now you say cut in line.” The woman’s voice was loud and clear.

Any further delay would miss the first optimal ti for the examination, resulting in incomplete data collection, which could hinder the entire experint’s schedule. Today they had encountered this stubborn woman and Dr. Zhu was in a dilemma. Forcing their way through could lead to physical conflict, and not doing so would delay the procedure. Several researchers who had brought the experintal pig were also helpless, and everyone was caught in a standoff.

“Let see what kind of special patient this is,” said the woman boldly, reaching out to remove the cloth covering the cart. In fact, this lab cart was not a gurney but more like a wheeled iron cage. The experintal pig inside was breathing through an oxygen mask, covered entirely by the cloth to ensure breathing while preventing issues during transport.

“No, you can’t look at this,” Dr. Zhu took hold of the woman’s hand.

“Why can’t I look, not allowed to see when cutting in line? Let see what kind of ergency, to justify queue jumping.” The woman was relentless, never having been bested in quarrels, and she was not about to let these “youngsters” win today. Wanting to cut in line? No way!

This is just the first move and you guys can’t hold up; if the next two moves co at you, you’ll be even more overwheld. The auntie is brimming with confidence.

Dr. Zhu thinks, should he just tell her clearly and lift up the cloth to show her? But then he thinks again, she can even block an ergency patient, so if it is a pig, wouldn’t that cause an uproar? Today’s test should probably not be done.

Right at that mont, Director Zhao happens to walk by and sees the situation. He knows about today’s animal experints at the Surgical Research Institute and with a glance, he recognizes that the experintal pig being sent to the PET-CT room has been stopped by soone. Thus, Director Zhao steps forward with his staff.

“Ma’am, what’s going on? I’m the director of the dical Services Office at this hospital. If sothing’s the matter, you can talk to ,” says Director Zhao kindly to the auntie.

After the auntie rattles on, Director Zhao imdiately replies: “Ma’am, just by looking at your face I can tell you’re a kind-hearted person. What you just said makes a lot of sense. How can we allow queue jumping? You young people didn’t explain things clearly to her.”

“Ma’am, co over here, let’s talk a few steps away. Don’t worry, they won’t dare to jump the queue, and we’ll arrange for your test right away,” Director Zhao says to the auntie.

But the auntie still won’t listen; no one’s words are effective.

So Director Zhao walks up close and whispers to the auntie: “Ma’am, there’s a dia kindness test going on. The caras are filming to see if everyone shows kindness by prioritizing ergency patients. Those who pass the test can receive eggs.”

Receive eggs!

The auntie’s eyes light up.

Director Zhao imdiately gives her a aningful look, whispering mysteriously: “Don’t let everyone else know.”

The auntie nods her head right away.

Director Zhao coughs a few tis, then calls out loudly: “Ma’am, this is an ergency patient, please be understanding. Every second counts in saving an ergency patient’s life; they must be prioritized.”

The auntie glances out of the corner of her eye at the hallway caras, clears her throat, and says, “Hurry, let the ergency patient go first. We can wait. Get in there, push it through, don’t delay the rescue.”

Director Zhao then turns to everyone and says, “Thanks, everyone, for your understanding. Please return to the waiting area and wait patiently; it’ll be quick.”

The young doctors look confused. What has Director Zhao said to the auntie? Suddenly she’s so compliant, and as if under a spell, her attitude does a complete 180-degree turn, and she even helps push the experintal pig. Once done, the auntie cos out to comfort the other patients, telling everyone to be kind and not so selfish. These patients all wear a confused expression as well.

“Go register her na. Have her co to the dical Services Office to receive eggs after her test is done,” Director Zhao instructs his staff.

The staff mber looks utterly bewildered: “? Where would we get eggs in our office?”

“Go to the supermarket at Sanbo Hotel and buy a basket of eggs, the kind that cos with ten in a basket. Look for to get reimbursed later,” says Director Zhao nonchalantly.
