He Zijian’s "resignation" didn’t cause much of a stir within Sanbo Research Institute. The reason publicly given was "due to personal health considerations and family reasons, he applied to transfer to a remote university to engage in foundational teaching work, to have more ti to care for his family."

The Human Resources Departnt processed the procedures as per protocol. Colleagues, although slightly surprised by this hard-working colleague’s sudden departure, mostly expressed understanding, and even Yang Ping organized a small farewell gathering for him.

At the gathering, He Zijian seed sowhat weary, speaking less than usual, only repeatedly thanking everyone for their care, occasionally avoiding eye contact with Yang Ping, with a hidden panic and complexity apparent to only the involved parties.

Yang Ping’s farewell speech was brief, with a calm tone, wishing him all the best in the future.

After the farewell gathering ended, Yang Ping returned to the office alone, closed the door, isolating himself from the outside world. Standing in front of the window, he watched He Zijian carrying a box, slightly hunched, walking towards the research institute’s entrance. Instead of feeling pleased, a heavy dull pain mixed with lingering anger and deep disappointnt surged within him.

The taxi parked at the entrance was actually arranged by Chief Qiu; all of this was He Zijian’s own doing, he had no one else to bla.

The camaraderie between classmates, the feelings shared as colleagues, all those once sincere or seemingly sincere monts now, upon reflection, appeared wrapped in a layer of deceit.

What Yang Ping found hardest to accept wasn’t just the breakdown of personal trust, but that He Zijian betrayed his compatriots for personal gain, aiming at the research potentially benefitting countless people and carrying the hope of China’s technological independence.

People change, Chief Qiu’s words kept echoing in Yang Ping’s mind.

...

BG Group, which once seed imposing, now found itself in an unprecedentedly awkward position. Their ticulously constructed "Trojan Plan" not only failed to trap Yang Ping and Ruixing, but instead fostered a more dynamic, autonomous rival scientific ecosystem that in so aspects was beginning to lead.

Carl Mueller’s position in the board was precarious; his set of tough yet ineffective strategies not only exhausted the group’s resources but also tarnished BG’s ethical and comrcial reputation. "Blocking Ruixing" almost beca an industry joke with a hint of irony, symbolizing a major giant’s misjudgnt of the situation instead inadvertently promoting the rise of a competitor.

Li Gaoyang’s recent re-examination of the brain tumor showed signs of recurrence. He knew better than anyone the peril of his illness and understood clearly who could offer him the greatest hope of survival—the very Yang Ping they had been vigorously suppressing.

The success of the first surgery made Li Gaoyang almost superstitiously believe in Yang Ping’s skills; he knew that only Yang Ping could save him.

As Carl Mueller’s blockade strategy proved to be a misstep and proved unsustainable, the voice within the group demanding strategic change grew louder. Seizing the opportunity, Li Gaoyang sharply used this chance to seek the best possible timing for his coback.

Thus, a carefully choreographed shift in public opinion comnced.

First, BG Group’s board announced that Carl Mueller would "no longer serve as the group’s vice president and interim CEO" due to "health reasons and personal intentions," with his responsible duties temporarily delegated to others. This seemingly graceful resignation essentially placed all responsibility for the failed blockade on this front-runner.

Following this, Li Gaoyang, who hadn’t appeared in a while, chose to "make a recuperative appearance" in an exclusive interview with a globally renowned financial dia outlet. On cara, although he looked slightly thin, his spirits were high, and he spoke earnestly, showing no signs of being overwheld by illness.

"...Regarding certain improper asures taken by parts of the managent in relation to Ruixing dical and Professor Yang Ping’s team, I feel deeply regretful," Li Gaoyang spoke to the cara, his expression grief-stricken yet sincere, "During that ti, I was resting due to illness and had temporarily delegated daily decision-making powers. It was for this reason that such outrageous situations occurred. I’ve always believed that science knows no national borders, and any advancent in human health should be shared global wealth. Competition should stimulate innovation, not build high walls; should compete in the sunlight over technology and value, rather than trying to kill potential futures using unmarketable thods."

He spoke eloquently, portraying himself as an open, inclusive sage believing in the spirit of scientific sharing, attributing prior oppressive actions lightly to "parts of the managent," "temporary decisions," and "miscommunications."

"Professor Yang Ping is a highly respected, outstanding doctor and scientist; his talent should not be constrained by any narrow competitive concepts. BG Group has always adhered to an attitude of open cooperation; we highly value relationships with Chinese peers, with distinguished institutes like Sanbo Research Institute. I believe there is trendous complentarity and collaborative space between us in many fields, where we can explore a brand new, constructive partnership model to jointly address global health challenges rather than fall into unnecessary consumption."

The interview broadcast caused an uproar.

Industry insiders certainly recognized how hypocritical and laughable Li Gaoyang’s words were, but the general public and certain less inford dia were easily deceived by such "high stance" and "science without borders" rhetoric. BG Group successfully draped itself with a coat of "finding the way back" and "rational inclusiveness," trying to downplay previous vile actions and reposition itself as the side seeking cooperative goodwill.
