"This will take ti."
"That’s why we need to strategize early." Wu Dechang signaled his assistant to hand over a docunt. "This is our initial technology roadmap, based on the publicly available K Therapy papers. We’ve designed several alternative paths, but unfortunately, they’ve all failed."
President Zhang flipped through the thick docunt, feeling a tremor inside. These multinational giants were indeed formidable. While they accepted the inclusive frawork outwardly, they were secretly preparing for a technological breakthrough.
"I don’t understand the aning of ’the reverse’?" President Zhang returned the docunt to Mr. Wu. He didn’t understand the significance of Mr. Wu showing him the failed technical data.
Wu Dechang smiled, "This is where the value of our cooperation lies. What I an is that you can leverage your special status to collaborate with Ruixing, acquire the technology through cooperation, and then hand it over to us. We will then use our powerful R&D team to improve the technology. In this way, we can jointly launch a more advanced alternative product than K Therapy."
"Mr. Wu, you’ve found the wrong person." President Zhang stood up to leave.
Wu Changde was not in a hurry. He knew President Zhang too well: "President Zhang, don’t rush. Let finish."
President Zhang stood there, not leaving imdiately, nor having any intention of sitting down.
"If cooperation is possible, we’re willing to help your son enroll in any university he wishes to attend in the United States, and provide annual educational funding for him calculated in billions. We can also help your entire family settle in the United States. How does that sound? Cooperation wouldn’t bring you any personal loss, but it could bring wealth enough for generations." Wu Changde spoke steadily. He knew President Zhang was just putting on an act. He had already figured him out.
President Zhang swallowed his saliva and sat down slowly, "This will take ti."
Wu Changde smiled, "Of course it takes ti. That’s why I’m eager to et you, President Zhang. But please rember, ti waits for no one. With each passing month, Ruixing’s position becos more stable. Once their global network is built, we’ll have no chance."
...
Wu Changde left imdiately; he had to et a second person.
The second eting was more discreet, held at a private club on the Bund. The counterpart was a partner at a well-known dostic investnt fund.
"President Li, your fund has invested in quite a few star projects in the healthcare sector." Wu Dechang raised his glass. "I’m curious, how do you view Ruixing’s valuation?"
President Li, in his early forties, was a typical financial elite: "From a financial perspective, Ruixing is on the verge of a breakout. If the inclusive frawork is rolled out globally, a valuation of a hundred billion US Dollar is not an issue. But from an investnt perspective, the risks are obvious: the technology relies on a single source, and the backing technology behind Yang Ping has almost no substitute; the internationalization process faces policy risks; and there are potential technology leakages and competition."
"What if there were a way to hedge these risks?" Wu Dechang said softly, "For example, investing in a competing project with a similar technology path but more openness?"
President Li’s eyes sharpened: "Mr. Wu, do you have such a project in hand?"
"Our alliance has gathered top tumor science experts from around the world. As long as funding is in place, we can launch a competitive product in eighteen months." Wu Dechang lowered his voice, "Moreover, this project will adopt a completely different business model. Technology licensing will be open, and any qualified company can produce it. Isn’t this true inclusivity?"
"I need to see the specific team and plan."
"Next week, our scientific advisory group will co to Shanghai. You can talk to them personally."
As they left the club, Wu Dechang’s assistant asked quietly, "Boss, won’t this poaching be too obvious?"
"This isn’t poaching; it’s offering a choice. We’re preparing for the future." Wu Dechang looked at the lights on the opposite side of the Huangpu River. "China is so vast, as long as there are enough resources and opportunities, soone will be willing to cooperate with us. Since the fortress cannot be broken from the outside, why not start from the inside?"
"Boss, but we’ve tried this thod before, and it didn’t work at all."
"That just ans Yang Ping’s team is solid. We should attack indirectly, starting from his periphery."
