Now reading: Chapter 1885 - 1306: Lineage3 from Surgery Godfather, a Fantasy novel by Ocean And Summer.

"Different tumor types tend to hijack various mbers of the TIM superfamily or modify the sa mber differently, which grants them specific identity tags. The function of these tags includes at least: one, maintaining adhesion and communication between tumor cells, forming functional communities; two, conversing with specific stromal cells and immunocytes in the tumor microenvironnt, shaping a survival-friendly environnt; three, possibly involved in tabolic reprogramming and selective formation of tastatic niches."

Song Zimo took a deep breath, the professor’s pace was incredibly fast, and even though the experint had just begun, he had already delineated an accurate theoretical direction.

"So, our previous research on the K Factor may actually have been only partially correct. Does the K Factor binding with TIM potentially also disrupt this identity communication that cancer cells rely on?"

"Correct." Yang Ping nodded, "This is why even without obvious immunocyte infiltration, the K Factor can inhibit tumor growth. It might directly interfere with the signaling."

Lu Xiaolu imdiately asked, "And what about fusion proteins like PAC-FUS1?"

"That is a more aggressive form of hijacking." Yang Ping pointed to a branch on the whiteboard, "Not only do cancer cells activate TIM mbers, but through gene fusion, they directly link the TIM core with potent oncogenic domains, such as kinases and epigenetic modification enzys. It’s akin to welding the identity lock to the energy switch, creating a self-sufficient, uncontrolled malignant cycle. This explains why these types of tumors are particularly dangerous and resistant to traditional treatnts."

He turned around, facing everyone with a piercing gaze: "And the most important conjecture is: since the TIM is a superfamily with a common structural origin and functional logic, the design principles targeting them should also be universal. We don’t need to design completely new K Factors from scratch for every newly discovered TIM variant. We can establish a key design rule library."

"Based on the structural conservation of the TIM core, we can design a basic key scaffold capable of recognizing this conserved region. Then, through programmable, modular adapter heads, we can specifically match the variable regions on the surfaces of different TIM variants. This is like..."

"Like a smartphone and different apps!" Griffin blurted out, then sheepishly covered his mouth.

Yang Ping chuckled: "A very apt analogy. The basic hardware (key scaffold) is universal, but by installing different software (adapter heads), you can open different locks. We can even design ’composite keys’ or ’master keys’ that simultaneously interfere with multiple related TIM mbers or target the common, more fragile ’structural joints’ of the TIM family."

The laboratory buzzed with excitent.

This is not only a theoretical breakthrough but an innovative system of a whole new theory.

"Professor, should this discovery... be published imdiately? This could be explosive!" Lu Xiaolu asked excitedly.

Yang Ping nodded and turned his gaze back to the whiteboard.

"I will soon compile it into a paper to be published in our dical Journal. This is just the beginning, a milestone. We have seen the family of ’locks’ and inferred the family of ’keys.’ But truly unraveling the mystery of cancer treatnt..." He paused, speaking each word deliberately, "lies in finding the ’original blueprint’ that initially designed this set of ’locks,’ and in understanding why life retains such a seemingly dangerous yet universally selected recognition system during carcinogenesis."

"That may relate to the very essence of life’s encoding, to the determination of cellular fate, and to the construction and reconstruction of tissue order. Cancer may not just be a genetic disease but a disease of ’identity’ and ’order.’

"And we," Yang Ping’s voice was soft, yet clear, "have just touched the doorknob to the first door of this labyrinth."
