Chapter 443: Chapter 405: Connecting with Steven Chapter 443: Chapter 405: Connecting with Steven International Space Station, United States module.

Steven had just completed a fitness workout on the combined weighted external resistance treadmill. He had persisted in running for an hour, and he also did so other resistance training.

In a microgravity environnt, muscle atrophy and bone calcium loss can easily occur. If a certain level of physical exercise isn’t maintained, these symptoms will get worse.

Upon returning to Earth, due to muscle atrophy, an astronaut could be unable to walk, and due to osteoporosis, the bones could easily fracture.

Steven dried his sweat, moved his lithe body back to the living module, where all sorts of equipnt were hanging on the wall.

He checked the pressure inside the module and found nothing abnormal. Not long ago, there was a leak in the Russian module, losing 220g of air per day. The amazing Russians took a month to finally find the leak, a hole of only 1mm. They used tape to seal it and then proclaid themselves out of danger.

If it were Steven, he would have definitely taken a spacewalk to weld and seal the hole externally, else he wouldn’t sleep comfortably.

His partner David Hollis was still in the cupola, watching Earth. He loved photography and was always taking pictures out of the module, then selecting high quality photos to post on Facebook.

David Hollis was in love; he just wanted to use these photos to attract a girl.

From inside the cabin, the Cupola, with its seven observation windows, undeniably, was the best choice.

Steven opened his laptop and also started selecting photos. These were taken by caras outside the space station. He had promised his daughter that he would collect photos from different regions of Earth that were taken by those external caras that wouldn’t have the effect of a transparent window.

Every ti at this mont, Steven was the most relaxed. He had completed the day’s research tasks, and was doing so private job for his daughter. He was proud of this.

It was ti for a video call with his wife. With the help of three communication satellites, the International Space Station had internet access. So, not only could they contact the ground control center in Houston, but also make video calls with families, browse web pages, read the news, and post on Twitter, Facebook.

“Dear, I just got back from the grocery store. Look, our daughter is filling up the fridge with your favorite fruits. I asked her to wait for twenty days, but she didn’t listen.” His wife was busy while letting the cara point at her.

Steven’s wife was a teacher at an elentary school in Houston. She was preparing dinner, with steak, salad, and juice laid out on the table.

“Darling, in twenty days, we’ll et again.”

“We’re waiting for you, dear. It feels like a year has passed. I saw news on NASA’s official website that in twenty days, a Dragon Spaceship will be launched from the Kennedy Space Center, for your rotations.”

“Daddy, Daddy!” The voice of his eight-year-old daughter interrupted.

“Take it easy, sweetheart. What are you doing?” Steven saw his interesting daughter who was covered in cheese-like stuff on her face, hands, and clothes.

“I am making a salad. When you co back, I will make you a fruit salad.” The girl was so excited that she was dancing.

“She’s learning to make fruit salad. Look at her face, that’s her devotion to you.” His wife carefully wiped her daughter’s cheetah face with a wet wipe.

“Daddy, rember to save a set of photos for . I promised my classmates, each will get one with your signature. I must be a trustworthy person.” His daughter always reminded him.

“I’m selecting them now. I’ll email them to you in a few days.” Steven was almost done selecting.

“She has prepared a speech topic – Observing Earth from Space. She practices every day speaking to our cat. Now all she needs are your photos as materials.” His wife stroked their daughter’s face.

“Thank you, daddy! You guys chat. I’ll go hide in my room for fifteen minutes.” His daughter said goodbye to Steven and hid in her room.

His wife was talking into the cara, “Dear, really, I miss you so much, and I worry about you. Everyday we look through the telescope out our window, hoping you fly over us. Lynn has made a titable on when you pass, marked with a red pen. Are you – okay?”

“You’ve been through a lot, darling. I’m fine. Are you okay?”

“Mmm, I’m also fine. Lynn wants to learn to surf, but I can’t. She’s waiting for you to co back.”

The door cranked open slightly, Lynn’s eyes were watching her parents having a video call through the crack.

In the Johnson Space Center, lights have been turned on in the administration office in Building One.

The dical team mbers and specially invited experts from various places were in heated discussion.

The discussion began from three o’clock in the afternoon to seven o’clock in the evening, and still hadn’t ended.

“We have identified our core issue. The reason for Steven’s slowed heartbeat is unknown. Will this unknown reason affect his return to Earth? Once he can return to the ground, everything will be easy to solve,” Collins sorted out the thread of the problem.

“Exactly, you’ve found the focus. I insist on my opinion, not ruling out the possibility of a tumor in the brain stem, or other pathological changes.”

“Gentlen, not long ago in China, I saw a seventy-year-old patient with a dullary tumor in his brain stem. Slow heart rate and respiration were the first symptoms.”

“What I an is, if a pathological change affects the heartbeat center, it could lead to the slowing of the heart rate. If it affects the respiratory center, it will cause the respiration to slow down.”

“I suspect that so kind of pathological change is affecting Steven’s heartbeat center. The probability is very low, one in a thousand, but we can’t gamble. I suggest that he can’t return to Earth before we find out. If it’s a vascular malformation, the spacecraft getting into the atmosphere, falling at a high speed, a ruptured blood vessel would undoubtedly be fatal.”
