Now reading: Chapter 479 - 479 436 One of a Kind from Surgery Godfather, a Fantasy novel by Ocean And Summer.

Chapter 479: Chapter 436: One of a Kind Chapter 479: Chapter 436: One of a Kind For so reason, every ti Yang Ping encounters a high-risk, high-difficulty surgery, a strong sense of interest arises within him.

This interest leads him to tirelessly overco nurous obstacles, eventually achieving his goal.

Even in cases where the goals seem impossible to achieve, he retains absolute confidence, continually experinting, analyzing, and summarizing within his system space.

Each ti a high-risk, high-difficulty operation is conquered, and a patient safely escapes the clutches of disease, Yang Ping feels an imnse sense of achievent.

It’s like a hacker who, after strenuous efforts, discovers a loophole and successfully breaks through a strict defense.

This strong interest and sense of achievent cycle, causing Yang Ping to be deeply invested in every case.

He can’t suppress this ntality, nor knows whether this ntality is healthy and correct. In the end, he constantly reassures himself that as long as it’s beneficial for patients, it is healthy, it is correct.

It is this ntality that allows him to endure countless devil-trainings in his system space.

A confined space is unbearable for ordinary people.

The so-called confined space doesn’t only isolate physically from the outside world but also confines the flow of information from the outside world.

For example, if a person is put in a small room with internet access and online gas, it’s not a true confined space.

Because the person can still interact and exchange information with the outside world or others through the internet and gas.

If this person is put in a small room without internet or phone access, cutting off any interaction and informational link with the outside world,

It would be truly terrifying. He couldn’t endure a few days before experiencing a ntal breakdown.

In Yang Ping’s system space, both physical and informational connections with the outside world are severed, the biggest driving force able to keep him going is his interest.

Interest and a sense of achievent cycles continuously.

Yang Ping also discovers that between each cycle, there is a period of rest – a brief relaxation allows him to go into the next cycle.

As a doctor, he likes to dissect his ntality with dical knowledge.

Yang Ping doesn’t know whether this state of mind is a side effect of the system, but he is sure that he currently enjoys this state and needs this state.

Fortunately, his girlfriend Xiao Su is a surgical nurse. Thus, even if Yang Ping spends every day in the operating room, they can still be together. The two can even discuss so cases during rest.

If it were any other profession, maintaining a romantic relationship under such circumstances would be impossible.

Love requires ti to nourish.

Without enough spending ti together, love will slowly wither away.

As promised, Professor Li Zehui from the Cleveland dical Center visited Sanbo Hospital.

Even though, as a world-leading heart-specialized hospital, Cleveland has no interest in Sanbo Hospital. What interested Professor Li was the case.

Zheng Baosheng, male, eighteen years old, diagnosed with scoliosis combined with aberrations of intra-thoracic and intra-abdominal organs, especially the displacent and malformation of heart and large blood vessels, are the most challenging within cases of scoliosis.

Even without considering the scoliosis, the case of the heart and large blood vessels alone is an extrely rare and extre case.

Professor Qin Shi sent the case details to cardio surgeon Professor Wu Yucheng at the 301 Hospital, who then forwarded it to Professor Li. Professor Li was very intrigued by this case and decided to take ti to co to Sanbo Hospital for consultation.

When he ca to Sanbo Hospital, he was accompanied by Professor Wu.

As a heart surgeon, Li Zehui isn’t a specialist in scoliosis correction, but he has participated in many treatnts of heart and large blood vessels related to scoliosis correction, so he has experience with these types of cases.

Professor Li was born and raised in the United States, but he can speak Chinese, albeit not very fluently.

Similar to a Chinese person using unpolished English, sotis he has to think a while, organize his language, then express himself accurately.

For particular pronunciations that greatly differ from English customs, he would pause before accomplishing an accurate pronunciation.

After Professor Qin, acting as the interdiary, finished introductions for both sides, Professor Li simply shook hands as a courtesy.

He showed little interest in Yang Ping, even towards 301’s Professor Wu Yucheng, his attitude was simply out of fulfiled courtesy.

“Let’s visit the patient first. Prepare the case details for later,” said Professor Wu, who was accustod to such scenes.

He was frequently invited to lower-level hospitals for consultations or surgeries. The routine was to rush to the hospital shortly after getting off the plane and dive right into the subject matter.

Song Mo led the way, with Yang Ping and Professor Qin accompanying, guided Professor Li and Professor Wu to the ward.

On the way to the ward, Professor Li and Professor Wu engaged in a conversation with Yang Ping, inquiring about the details of the case without any superfluous conversation.

Professor Li personally asked for the patient’s history, with Professor Wu assisting at the side. A large crowd followed them.

The cardiac surgery professors from the Cleveland dical Center are regarded as divine. Many doctors from the Thoracic Surgery Departnt of Sanbo Hospital and nearby hospitals hurried over to witness the extraordinary skill of these top experts.

Quite a few surgeons from the Cardiac Surgery Departnt of the Nandu Provincial People’s Hospital also ca.

The cardiac surgery team of Nandu Provincial People’s Hospital is technically strong, with many doctors having received training from a Chinese-Australian heart-surgery professor at the North Shore Hospital in Australia. This Chinese-Australian professor is the technical source of the cardiac surgery departnt of the Nandu Provincial People’s Hospital.

This Chinese-Australian doctor is the senior fellow of Professor Li, and they are both students of the current chief expert of the Cleveland dical Center.

Professor Li asked about the case history with great detail. With the patient’s consent, Professor Wu recorded the conversation to retain first-hand case history. Professor Li would repeatedly ask about any unclear issues until he was clear about every detail – he didn’t miss out on any valuable detail from birth till present.

After going through the disease history, Professor Li began to examine the body, conducting a complete set of auscultation of the heart with two different stethoscopes.

After a full hour, Professor Li finished asking about the disease history and performing the physical examination, his brow furrowed.

Back at the doctor’s office, Song Zimo pulled up Zheng Baosheng’s imaging data. Professor Li studied it repeatedly before finally speaking, “The case has severe adhesions of the thoracic and abdominal organs, especially the heart and major blood vessels. These adhesions have altered their anatomical layers and relationships. Due to developntal malformations, the positions of many blood vessels are uncertain, leading to potential massive bleeding during surgery. There is a need for a complete rearrangent of the heart and major blood vessels. You see, the inferior vena cava is distorted due to adhesions, adjacent to the anterior side of the spine, and further compressed due to scoliosis. This leads to venous return obstruction, causing significant ascites and heart failure. The patient will eventually die of heart failure. This operation is unlike anything in our standard textbooks – it’s a brand new challenge. In theory, it can be done. But in reality, no one has ever attempted this before; the risk is incredibly high, there’s a strong chance the patient might die on the operating table.”

“Who do you plan to invite to perform this surgery? Anzhen or Fuwai?” Professor Wu asked with a stern tone.

Professor Li Zehui is familiar with both hospitals, as every year several doctors from both hospitals further their studies at the Cleveland Heart Center.

Professor Qin Shi wanted to explain on behalf of Yang Ping that he would perform the operation, but he didn’t know how to express it. He was a bit uncomfortable with the way Professor Wu spoke to Yang Ping.

The matter of the 301 group coming to Sanbo to poach talent was only known within 301 Hospital by the leadership and a few professors in orthopedics.

“My suggestion is to abandon the operation. We should treat the symptoms, try to address the problem of venous return obstruction to temporarily prolong the patient’s life. Sadly, these types of patients are destined to die of organ failure. We’re powerless in this situation, as the probability of a successful operation is virtually nil.”

“Dealing with adhesions is already significantly difficult, let alone the correction of a large amount of vascular variation, and malformation of the heart and major blood vessels. You see, the thoracic aorta is adhered to the front side of the thoracic vertebrae, the inferior vena cava is not only adhered to the front side of the thoracic and lumbar spine but also to the surrounding organs. Surgeon’s biggest enemy is unknown and ambiguous anatomical aspects. To rearrange the heart and major blood vessels, we dare not undertake such an operation.” Professor Li was quite frank.

The surgery of a surgeon is unfamiliar and ambiguous if unknown anatomical aspects exist; it’s like going to a war without any knowledge of the geographical environnt.

“Indeed, the risk of this operation is very high, but if we don’t take the risk, the patient can only wait for death. Imagine the despair of a young person waiting for death. Maybe, we can fight for the last ray of hope for him.” Yang Ping will not change his decision. He just wanted to discuss with Professor Li on how to perform the surgery in the hope of gaining valuable suggestions.

“Who are you?” asked Professor Li, looking a bit embarrassed.

They had just introduced him.

“This is Dr. Yang Ping of the Surgical Research Institute of Sanbo Hospital, the champion of the Golden Knife Award in orthopedics this year.” Professor Qin had to introduce him again.

Although he didn’t want to flaunt these achievents, given Professor Wu’s tone, Professor Qin couldn’t help but bring out this title. As for his experience in assisting NASA with surgery in the United States, it should not be ntioned.

“Ah, Dr. Yang Ping!”

Professor Li nodded in acknowledgnt, indifferent towards the Golden Knife Award.

But Professor Wu understood the weight of the Golden Knife Award. It signifies that among doctors aged 45 and below in the respective specialty, their surgical skills are rated as the best nationwide.

Professor Wu shook hands with Yang Ping again; the tone of his dialogue improved significantly.

“In the field of spinal surgery, I can’t voice an opinion. I really can’t be sure who can help you solve the problems of the heart and major blood vessels. This is the biggest obstacle. Only by solving the problems of the heart and major blood vessels, can you carry out orthopedic surgery on the spine, otherwise, major blood vessels will be torn during orthopedic surgery, and the patient will die directly on the operating table.” Professor Li expressed his concern.

“Dr. Yang Ping is prepared to be the chief surgeon and complete the entire operation!” Song Zimo said on the side.

“You?”

Professor Li shook his head.

“Surgeons need a well-trained brain and hands, not excessive courage.” Professor Li’s words were pointed.

He believed that this was irresponsible behavior, a young doctor is going to perform an interdisciplinary surgery? Absolutely not allowed.

“Dr. Yang Ping will be the director of our Surgical Research Institute, he has the capacity to handle these problems.” Song Zimo was very confident.

Professor Li looked at Yang Ping: “How many of these kinds of operations have you done?”

“He is unique, no one in the world has done it before, but that’s not an obstacle!”

Yang Ping answered calmly.
