Chapter 703: Chapter 627: A Blank Piece of Paper Chapter 703: Chapter 627: A Blank Piece of Paper The strong self-confidence that radiated from Yang Ping was like a unique label that Tang Shun imdiately recognized.

Even back in Tokyo, Yang Ping’s self-assured aura stupefied the Japanese, leaving them as drained as soone who had suffered severe dehydration. To this day, dical students at Tokyo University still share stories about Yang Ping, who has even been the subject of a comic book.

Accompanying Yang Ping were Song Zimo and Xu Zhiliang, both of whom Tang Shun knew very well.

During their ti in Japan, Tang Shun had served as their personal translator for several days and they’d now beco friends.

Following behind them were two foreigners, Robert, the younger man with the red nose, and August, who was slightly older.

Before leaving his ho country, Takahashi had introduced these two bigwigs, who were studying under Yang Ping, to Tang Shun.

Of course, visiting Sanbo was Takahashi’s suggestion as he believed joining Yang Ping’s team promised a bright future.

Tang Shun, who had a firm grasp of this fact, held two criteria in regard to career: firstly, it should be fulfilling one’s dreams, and secondly, it should bring in a substantial inco. Any career that lacks either one of the two aspects is incomplete.

“Dr. Tang, hello!” Yang Ping extended a hand.

When he shook Yang Ping’s hand, the typically self-confident Tang Shun found himself a bit unnerved. He hadn’t expected to be received by Yang Ping himself, the man who’d made Takahashi and his group of Tokyo elites respect him thoroughly. Why would such a man even bother to spend his energy to personally receive them?

Regardless, Tang Shun’s nervousness proved to be unnecessary. Except for his self-confidence, Yang Ping didn’t convey any overbearing temperant. Rather, he provided a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

“This is—” Yang Ping didn’t dare assu the identity of the girl beside Tang Shun. Relationships can be complex these days.

“This is my girlfriend. You can call her Qianxia.” Tang Shun casually introduced.

Suzuki Chinatsu, a first-year undergraduate at Tokyo University, politely bowed: “Nice to et you.”

In Yang Ping’s office at the Comprehensive Surgery Departnt.

Once everyone had taken a seat, Yang Ping made tea for the group. The aroma of Longjing tea filled the office.

Tang Fei accompanied Tang Shun’s Japanese girlfriend, Qianxia, for a tour of the hospital.

The young student from Tokyo University said farewell to Tang Shun in her sweet, soft voice before leaving to tour Sanbo Hospital with Tang Fei.

After exchanging a few pleasantries, Yang Ping got straight to the point.

“Dr. Tang, we are currently initiating a new project — stem cell cultivation of muscles. Our hope is to unlock the vast potential of organ cloning with this research. We would like to invite you to join our team.”

Song Zimo has already discussed with him nurous tis over WeChat. So, there’s no need for lengthy introductions.

“I’m interested to know Professor Yang’s views about this project?”

Tang Shun sip his tea leisurely.

Robert and August blew a few breaths into their cups, swallowed the tea after it had cooled down to a lukewarm temperature, and then stared at the empty cups. They waited for Xu Zhiliang to refill their cups.

“Here are so key details about our project. You can take a look.” Yang Ping said as Song Zimo passed the docunts to Tang Shun.

Tang Shun flipped through the pages, “Two technical routes to be run, simultaneously. This would require significant resources and funding. It doesn’t seem practical.”

Yang Ping rely shook his head, “Our least concern is money. There are dedicated foundations providing funds for our research. The existing funds already exceed one billion RMB. And this is just the beginning. Firms you’re quite familiar with such as the Anning Group, the Guo Shi family from Southeast Asia etcetera, are our financial backers.”

Tang Shun was astonished how a hospital laboratory could have such vast funding for scientific research. But he soon cald down, realizing that the Anning Group was a newly erging financial group, and the Guo Shi Group did not have a tradition of supporting dical research. Continuous funding could be in question.

Tang Shun had witnessed many initiatives that start vigorously but eventually wither away. Many businesses promise a certain level of funding initially but fail to provide further funds after the first tranche is delivered. Either the sponsors lose interest or the sponsoring company encounters financial difficulties or even goes bankrupt.

In China, the tradition of corporate sponsoring of scientific research institutions is lacking, thus longevity of the sponsorship is often questionable.

“I’m concerned about the long-term stability of the project funding.” Tang Shun openly expressed his apprehension.

Academics are usually straightforward, the conversations are direct to save ti and improve communication efficiency.

“I understand your concerns. What are your thoughts on the Duke Foundation?”

The Duke Foundation?

The discreet and low-key European aristocratic foundation, has funded nurous projects, including those of Nobel laureate, Mr. Manstein, who was also a recipient of the Foundation’s funding.

Tang Shun was taken aback that the Duke Foundation would also be providing him with funding.

“One billion euros will be credited to your account soon. Afterward, you may discuss the Duke Foundation in detail with Mr. August.” Yang Ping stated calmly.

Tang Shun was inwardly moved at the thought of having one billion RMB, along with a promised subsequent one billion euros in his account. Such financial resources could indeed fully support this large-scale project.

He hadn’t expected that even a hospital laboratory could raise such an astronomical sum.

Tang Shun had initially thought, only laboratories from prestigious universities like Tokyo University or renowned institutions in the United States would possess such fundraising abilities.

“If Dr. Tang is still worried about the funding, I can tell you that, in the future, our laboratory will have the biggest supporter in the world. Nobody can compare.” Yang Ping teased cryptically.

“What do you an?” Tang Shun was puzzled.

“Our country! I’m not a man typically influenced by sentints. But, today, I want to discuss it with Dr. Tang. If the conditions are equal, I would hope that you choose us. Even though we’re only a laboratory within a hospital, we aspire to build it into a national-level laboratory and a world-class laboratory. Given our country’s economic strength, focus on technological advancents, and our capabilities, I believe this is attainable.”
