"What?"
Su Xiaong asked Eric.
Eric picked up the coffee in front of him, sniffed the aroma, took a sip, and then explained, "I said you really look like Arthur’s first girlfriend."
Su Xiaong raised an eyebrow, her heart skipping a beat.
Nobody wants to be told they look like soone else, let alone being told they resemble their husband’s ex-lover.
This kind of dramatic scenario, no matter how many tis it occurs, instinctively makes people feel repulsed.
Eric saw Su Xiaong’s expression freeze for a mont and couldn’t help but ask, "Why? Arthur never ntioned his first love to you?"
Su Xiaong chuckled lightly and said, "He’s not stupid. I’m his wife. If he ntions his first love, isn’t he just asking for trouble?"
Eric looked at Su Xiaong. Clearly, her response was different from what he had imagined.
"Don’t you want to know?"
Su Xiaong quickly shook her head and waved her hand, "Please don’t tell . I don’t want to upset myself."
"Don’t you want to know more about your husband?"
Regarding how many girlfriends Yin Shixiu had before and what kind of people his exes were, Su Xiaong couldn’t genuinely claim she wasn’t curious.
But no matter how curious, she didn’t want to hear it from soone else’s mouth.
As for knowing more about Yin Shixiu...
"Of course I want to!"
Su Xiaong responded quickly, then glanced at the ti, "He’ll be back in a while. Eric, if you don’t mind, I wouldn’t mind if you tell more about his life in the United Kingdom."
"In what aspect?"
"Just start from when you t him!"
Eric and Yin Shixiu were high school classmates...
Yin Shixiu’s high school—
"When I t him..."
Eric chuckled lightly, "He was a real jerk."
Jerk...
Upon hearing this, Su Xiaong imdiately burst into laughter, slapping her thigh!
"Haha! Jerk?"
Eric put down the coffee in his hand, crossed his legs, rested his hands on his knees, and turned sideways to leisurely look at Su Xiaong.
She was laughing so wildly, the expression was so candid that if soone captured it and posted it online, it would definitely go viral.
Eric didn’t know what part of what he said had hit Su Xiaong’s funny bone, making her laugh so heartily.
To be honest, he just wanted to say so bad things about Yin Shixiu!
Not that he wanted to exact revenge on Yin Shixiu or anything. Those young days are long gone, not really deep-seated grudges anymore.
But to completely forget that Yin Shixiu once stole his girl—impossible.
Londoners’ stubbornness sotis manifests in such trivial matters.
Saying bad things about Yin Shixiu may seem childish, but Eric was never a particularly mature or steady person.
However, he didn’t expect that just as he started the bad-mouthing, Su Xiaong burst into laughter.
Confused inside, but he didn’t want to appear too obvious, making himself seem foolish, so he chuckled and asked, "Hehe... is it that funny?"
Su Xiaong realized she might have gone a bit overboard, and quickly explained, "I also thought he was probably just a jerk back then! I used to bring up his high school days, and he stubbornly denied it, insisting he was a model student."
"Really?"
"Isn’t it! He just took advantage of the fact that I didn’t know him back then and bluffed !"
Eric raised an eyebrow, looking at Su Xiaong, "Why do you think he was a jerk back then?"
Su Xiaong quickly sat beside Eric, looking warm and friendly as if she found a kindred spirit, "Don’t be fooled by his usual gentle smile; he’s actually got a lot of mischief inside. I just think soone like that was definitely wild when he was young."
"Wild? More like completely arrogant!"
Eric said indignantly!
Su Xiaong’s eyes sparkled with interest, "What did he do? Did he... get into fights? Did he skip class often?"
For so reason, Su Xiaong seed excited as if she were expecting sothing!
"Why not fight? But this guy was really sly."
"High schools in the UK aren’t as stressful as those in China, and people in our country usually aren’t good at math. Arthur participated in math competitions in China and won prizes, let alone when he was in the UK."
"So, at that ti, many British girls would ask Arthur for help with math problems."
"Arthur’s appearance wasn’t as plain as most Asians. He was good-looking, tall, and, of course, the girls were crazy about him."
"British girls must be quite bold, right?"
Su Xiaong knew that even now, married as he was, Yin Shixiu still occasionally received DMs from female celebrities and various strange accounts flirting with him on his seldom-used Weibo. Let alone back then.
Surely, he left a trail of broken hearts everywhere.
"Compared to Chinese girls, they’re bolder, but Arthur didn’t care about the girls at all, often leaving them embarrassed with just a word or two."
"Wow... really? So ungentlemanly?"
"That’s why he’s offended quite a few people. So girls have strong personalities, and so co from families with a background in organized cri. Privately, they want to teach Arthur a lesson, and often corner him."
"Corner him... haha, Eric, your Chinese is really good."
Eric smiled and nodded, "I really like Chinese. I think the language of China is full of our ancestors’ wisdom. There’s so much to learn, it feels endless."
Su Xiaong looked at Eric. Her initial feeling of distance disappeared with his recognition of Chinese culture.
"Oh, right, speaking of him being cornered, he really got beaten badly at first... when he got back to where he was staying, it scared , but he didn’t say anything. The next day after class, he took out, saying he wanted to treat to dinner. I didn’t think much of it, since we were good friends."
"Who knew..."
Su Xiaong quickly said, "The others must’ve beaten you up too."
"Exactly!"
Eric slapped his thigh, the mory vividly coming back!
"Arthur never told why he got beaten up. Getting hit out of nowhere, could I not fight back?"
When Eric ntioned this, Su Xiaong could almost predict what happened next...
She rembered Yin Shixiu once told her that Eric had British Royal Family blood, though distant, his family must have considerable power.
Yin Shixiu must’ve taken Eric as a shield at the ti!
"In the end, it reached the school leaders, and that bastard Arthur said those thugs beat because they didn’t like ..."
"Pfft..."
Su Xiaong couldn’t help but laugh; she knew it would be like this.
"I thought, Arthur is so loyal, I can’t just be a coward. My family has so influence in London; it’s not acceptable to be bullied like that."
"After that, I’ve always been protecting Arthur."
Eric snorted angrily, "I only found out the reason why those people were troubling him after high school ended."
Su Xiaong cleared her throat, feeling she couldn’t laugh anymore, just thinking that what Yin Shixiu did was indeed a bit shady.
"Seems a bit bad, huh..."
"More than just a bit, ng ng, at that ti your husband leveraged his intelligence, cutting class and school just to work on his computer stuff, which was fine, but he had to drag in to fund him!"
"Haha, then you shouldn’t have funded him!"
Eric’s tone weakened a bit, muttering, "I looked at the e-comrce platform he was working on and estimated it could make money..."
"Hahaha, there’s an old saying in China: ’Money can even make the devil push the millstone,’ it’s really true."
Eric laughed self-deprecatingly, "Yes, at that ti, young and foolish, one willing to hit, another willing to take... but..."
"But what?"
"There’s one thing I really can’t stand!"
"What thing?"
Eric took a deep breath and said, "That bastard Arthur pretended to be poor! His father is such a big figure, and he said he had no money?!"
The door opened with two beeps, and Yin Shixiu heard Eric’s voice.
He raised an eyebrow, "When did I say I had no money?"
"Back then, you bought everything on credit, dare you say otherwise?"
"Weren’t you around at the ti?"
"You think of as a mobile ATM?"
"Let’s be clear, I’m not the only one treating you like a mobile ATM."
Yin Shixiu shrugged it off, indifferent. Su Xiaong glanced at Eric, feeling like the gentleman was about to get angry.
She quickly got up and walked to Yin Shixiu, taking the suit jacket he had taken off, and smiled, "Stop picking on Eric. You haven’t seen each other for so long; don’t start fighting as soon as you et."
Yin Shixiu leaned in and whispered, "He didn’t tell you any nonsense, right?"
Su Xiaong raised an eyebrow, giving him a glance, "Why? Got a guilty conscience?"
Yin Shixiu touched her head, "Good girl, I’m just telling you, that guy has a deep grudge against . If you can ignore what he says, do it."
"Yin Shixiu, how can you judge a gentleman with a villain’s heart? Eric has been speaking nicely about you; he only said he can’t stand your pretending to be poor."
"Saying nice things about ?"
Yin Shixiu didn’t seem to believe it.
"Why would I lie to you?"
Su Xiaong hung his coat and then said, "Eric’s co over; why not have dinner at ho? I’ll go buy so groceries. You two can chat for a while?"
Yin Shixiu nodded, "Sure."
Su Xiaong said goodbye and then left.
The living room only had Eric and Yin Shixiu left, and the atmosphere suddenly tensed up.
Their eyes t in the air; both were quite cold.
Yin Shixiu walked around and sat on the single sofa, "A single admission notice, you had to deliver it personally? Could it be sothing else is on your mind?"
