Su Xiaong didn’t roast a turkey leg like the British to celebrate this Christmas.
Instead, she made a table full of hearty homade dishes. Claire and Lily had beco quite proficient at making Chinese food, but Xiao ng hadn’t cooked for the three of them in a long ti.
For this rare holiday, Xiao ng spent the whole night cooking up this feast.
Shuangshuang and Huang Huang were eating with their mouths full of oil.
Su Xiaong took a bottle of Château Lafite from the wine cabinet and opened it for Yin Shixiu.
"I’ll have a small glass with you."
Yin Shixiu chuckled, "You can only have a small glass."
Su Xiaong sat next to him, with the two children beside her, so she could take care of them easily.
"L’amorEternel... This wine actually has such a nice aning, you never told ."
Su Xiaong said casually after pouring the wine.
Yin Shixiu raised an eyebrow, "You can understand French now?"
They had shared this wine many tis before, but she had never seed to pay attention to the French phrase.
"I’m not that good; I was at a Western restaurant with Cherry before, and she told that L’amorEternel... ans eternal love..."
Saying this, Su Xiaong raised her glass to Yin Shixiu,
"To you, L’amorEternel..."
Yin Shixiu clinked her glass and kissed her cheek.
He knew the phrase in French but never paid it much heed. Wine was just wine; its quality depended on the raw materials, production location, manufacturer, storage thod, and so on...
Wine didn’t represent any aning.
Yin Shixiu thought this way; the last person to earnestly tell him that "L’amorEternel" represented eternal love was Eric.
Soone born in a Western society, yet without the unrestrained freedom of it.
At his core, he was quite traditional.
He was an idealist and often had differing views from Yin Shixiu, a materialist.
But finding common ground, they beca close friends by chance.
He eloquently talked about the tragic love story used as a marketing gimmick behind this bottle of red wine.
"L’amorEternel... the pursuit of so many people in this life..."
Eric’s original words, which Yin Shixiu mocked for quite a while.
After all, Eric was only eighteen or nineteen then, both of them were rash young n.
Xiao ng sipped so wine, and just when she put the glass down, Shuangshuang stood up from her high chair and leaned towards Xiao ng, wanting to taste the red wine too.
But the little girl didn’t say it outright and just pointed to the glass asking Su Xiaong,
"Mom, what’s that?"
"Uh... red wine."
"Is it good?"
Shuangshuang asked seriously with her big blinking eyes.
As a mother who knows her daughter well, Su Xiaong could tell what thoughts were on her mind from just the casual question about the wine!
Su Xiaong shook her head with disgust,
"Not good, it’s particularly bad."
Shuangshuang raised her delicate eyebrows, full of curiosity yet hesitant to try...
Just when Xiao ng thought she had lost interest in the red wine, Shuangshuang suddenly said,
"Mom, I want to try it..."
"Shuang’er, it’s not tasty."
"Well... I want to see what yucky tastes like..."
"..."
Su Xiaong quickly looked at Yin Shixiu, and Yin Shixiu chuckled, placing Shuangshuang on his lap. He used chopsticks to dip a bit of wine and brought it to Shuangshuang’s mouth...
Shuangshuang tasted it, but possibly didn’t get the taste at first; after contemplating it for a mont, her little face crumpled in distaste!
She pulled her neck back...
Su Xiaong couldn’t describe Shuangshuang’s reaction, it was as if she had been shocked... quite comical.
"I told you it’s not good, but you insisted on trying. Little foodie, huh?"
"Good, tasty!"
"..."
Su Xiaong was stunned, looking at Shuangshuang again, her wrinkled features had relaxed and she was beaming, looking quite content.
Yin Shixiu was laughing uncontrollably, even using chopsticks to give her another taste.
Shuangshuang had the sa comical reaction again.
After two or three tis, just a tiny taste wasn’t enough for Shuangshuang anymore, the little girl reached out to grab Yin Shixiu’s wine glass...
"Hey! Shuang’er, you can’t drink more!"
"Mom, it’s tasty!"
Shuangshuang looked at Su Xiaong seriously, not quite understanding why sothing so delicious was said to be bad by her mom...
Su Xiaong quickly glared at Yin Shixiu,
"Stop giving her more, girls shouldn’t be drinking!"
But Yin Shixiu laughed,
"Girls should have a bit of tolerance for alcohol. Shuang’er should start building it early, or else it’ll be awkward if she can’t hold her liquor like you."
"...What do you an by that?"
"Alright, alright, I know the limits."
Yin Shixiu quickly reassured.
Su Xiaong wanted to say sothing more, but seeing the father and daughter duet ignoring her presence, she huffed and didn’t bother with them anymore.
