The great rainy season was coming early, so preparations for many things had to be accelerated. This was especially true for herbs and food, which were crucial to the tribe’s survival.
That afternoon, once the tribe mbers who had gone out to gather and hunt returned, the Clan Leader called everyone to assemble in the tribe’s clearing.
Everyone stared at the two large bamboo bags of chilies placed in the middle of the clearing, a stir of excitent running through them. ’Could this be a newly discovered food?’
Taking advantage of the distraction, one of the Beastman Warriors secretly snatched one and tossed it into his mouth. A second later, he let out a miserable howl and started panting, his tongue lolling out.
Watching the Beastman Warrior, whose face was so red it looked like it might explode, Wu Yue was torn between laughter and exasperation. "Quick, go rinse your mouth in the river! It’ll feel better in a bit."
Hearing this, the warrior, his eyes blurred with tears, bolted toward the river.
Having witnessed the power of the red fruit, the crowd couldn’t help but take a few steps back, eyeing the two bamboo bags with trepidation.
’If this stuff is a newly discovered food, then they’d eat shit.’
The witch watched the warrior’s retreating figure and rolled his eyes, speechless. ’What a bunch of complete blockheads!’
He stood and looked down at the tribe mbers. "I’ve gathered you all here today because I have sothing very important to tell you."
The Half beastman Warriors beside him moved on their own accord, weaving through the crowd while carrying several large leaves. On those leaves, of course, were the Poisonous Insects.
"This is a type of Poisonous Insect. I’m sure you all know what Poisonous Insects are."
"But this type of Poisonous Insect is even more vile. It feeds on the Life Energy of our cubs and pregnant females."
"The worst part is, we can’t see them while they’re alive. These Poisonous Insects only beco visible after they die."
The Snow Tiger Witch’s words instantly caused an uproar among the crowd.
’It specifically preys on the cubs! If we let an insect like this live, will our tribe ever have new cubs again?’
’A tribe without a next generation is dood to extinction.’
The tribe mbers were instantly enraged. ’Who could be so malicious as to release such a Poisonous Insect to plague our Snow Tiger Tribe?’
The Snow Tiger Witch waved his hand. The crowd quieted down, all eyes turning to him.
"This Poisonous Insect was discovered by the Flying Eagle Tribe. For nearly two years, not a single healthy cub has been born in their tribe."
Hearing this, the mbers of the Snow Tiger Tribe clutched their little cubs tightly.
"You all see these red herbs. A potion made by soaking them can kill these vile Poisonous Insects."
"So, for the next few days, your most important task is to take so of this herb, go back, and use the potion to cleanse yourselves, your caves, and the ground in front of them."
As he spoke, he turned to the Beastman Warriors. "A Beastman’s Life Energy is also this Poisonous Insect’s favorite food, so don’t you dare slack off."
"If I find that one of these Poisonous Insects has survived because soone failed to use the potion, there will be only one fate awaiting you: death."
The crowd gasped. ’Not exile from the tribe, but imdiate execution?’
Wu Yue was startled too, but then she considered that exiling a tribe mber carrying the Poisonous Insect would only risk spreading it to other tribes. She realized the witch’s thod, while harsh, was necessary.
