The terrifying swarm of rats surged like a natural disaster, directly entering the mist.
But soon, these Kelder Ratn sensed sothing amiss; their vision abruptly blurred, only able to see a few ters ahead.
Their perception gradually closed off, feeling the surrounding becoming eerily quiet.
In no ti, the atmosphere turned tense.
The path ahead began to fork, further increasing the psychological pressure on the Kelder Ratn.
Those maze-like paths, winding and distorting, made it exhausting for the crowded Kelder Ratn.
On the way, so careless ones stepped directly into the sludge... and then were swallowed whole.
Only bubbles surfaced...
The Kelder Ratn even saw their comrades drowning in front of them but couldn’t hear cries or perceive their breath.
An indescribable fear began to spread.
Scuffling along, two kiloters in, the leading Kelder Ratman trod into the sludge.
It jerked around attempting to have a comrade pull it out.
But what it saw was fear and anger stricken faces of its companions.
They suddenly sward up, using sharp claws and teeth to tear it apart.
"Monster!!"
"Damn bastard... die!"
"Our god eternal..."
Each roaring curses that were only spoken against outsiders.
The leader opened its mouth to say sothing, but its consciousness swiftly descended into darkness.
It was like a herald.
The Kelder Ratn went utterly mad in that mont!
Many directly attacked the nearby comrades.
Comrades with similar strength imdiately retaliated.
Instantly, the Kelder Ratn began slaughtering each other.
The stench of blood began to spread.
Though sound and vision were compressed to the extre, everyone felt their body beco acutely sensitive to the surroundings.
This made the rat swarm even more terrified.
The multitude of rats in the slaughter plunged into the sludge, both being swallowed in the mire.
While the rear Kelder Ratn flooded in continuously, crashing like waves into the mist.
The swamp resembled a beast’s mouth, devouring everything.
The mist carried traits of disorientation, amplifying agony, blocking perception, creating illusions...etc.
These rats, generally of level five or six, had no capacity to resist.
Over a hundred thousand Kelder Ratn hadn’t even crossed the Land of Death before killing each other to oblivion.
The ground was covered with bodies and blood.
Lear, witnessing the scene, felt extrely delighted.
The Land of Death he had painstakingly constructed finally revealed its power.
No need for him to pay any price, allowing self-destruction.
The bodies sunk into the sludge gathered silently hundreds of ters deep underground.
Sealed away by Lear.
Moreover, this was also to prevent the Kelder Ratn’s ultimate move... sacrificing themselves to forge a massive weapon.
Just as the Kelder Ratn’s offensive was stalled.
Squeak~
A piercing shriek sounded, a fierce wind arose in the sky.
Directly rushing into the swamp, the simplest, most direct way, blowing away the thick fog around.
Until this mont, the swamp revealed its true appearance.
And only now did the Kelder Ratn, still slaughtering, co to their senses, stopping in bewildernt.
Only now did they fearfully realize, the ones they had killed were not monsters in the swamp, but... their own companions!
But quickly, the shrieks from the rear turned sharp, reigniting the courage of these Kelder Ratn who began moving toward the depths of the swamp.
The key for the Kelder Ratn in dominating an area lies in their innurable number.
These rats can give birth to ten or so at a ti, three or four tis a year, and can mature in just half a year.
Their number increases incredibly.
They have absolutely no fear of sacrifice and death.
The rear army continues to pour in to fill up.
Just then.
Boom~
A muffled rumble echoed from the earth.
On the swamp’s edge, squelch~ suddenly appeared over twenty terrifying large holes... hundred-ter-long, gray-black creatures with wrinkled exterior, mouths opening like flower petals, able to reach a diater of 30 ters — Burrowing Worms, erged from underground.
These level 19 creatures, numbering 27 in total!
The scene appeared extrely shocking.
The Burrowing Worms revealed their heads, half propelled above the surface, half concealed underground.
Directly burrowing into the swamp... their gaping maws, lined with sharp and solid teeth, swallowing mud water, crushing rocks.
Wherever they passed, everything was destroyed.
Leaving behind a long depression trace in the rear.
The Starry Sky Vine, protecting the Magic Plants, sensed the powerful enemy and abruptly descended deep into the earth.
Avoiding being devoured.
Those unable to retreat were directly swallowed by the horrifying, flower-like jaws of the Burrowing Worms... leaving no chance to resist.
The Land of Death was forcibly destroyed by these level 19 creatures.
The rats in the rear began following the paths cleared by the Burrowing Worms... only to quickly discover that the swamp remains a swamp; breaking through the mist didn’t allow them to float on the sludge.
Instead, with the path destroyed, it beca arduously slow.
With a misstep, one could be swallowed by the mire.
Observing this scene, the leading Burrowing Worms secreted a unique mucus... after devouring soil, they discharged from the rear organs, mixing with mucus, forming a solid road behind.
The Kelder Ratn imdiately gained support, advancing along the highway.
With the Burrowing Worms leading the way, the rear army finally could enter the swamp.
