Li Junping had a thought, it made sense, now the Qin family wasn’t lacking money and could welco any daughter-in-law they wanted. The real issue was Qin Fen’s health.
The top priority was to cure her son’s illness first so he could divorce Song Yueqin and remarry another woman.
With this in mind, she spoke up, “Fine. I’ll listen to my son. But Song Xueqing, you better listen too. If you want to peacefully return ho, you must honestly do what a daughter-in-law ought to do. I will give you a few months’ probation period. If you pass, you can take care of him afterwards. If you fail, don’t bla , Li Junping, for being unreasonable.”
Song Yueqin was grateful now that Li Junping had finally consented, so she quickly thanked her, “Thank you, mom, for giving this opportunity. I rember it.”
The three of them went back ho where Qin Ru Hai was still squatting in the yard, weaving his basket.

Qin Ru Hai didn’t say a word as he continued working on his basket without stopping.
Seeing her father-in-law’s cold deanor, Song Yueqin didn’t say anything further. She turned around and followed Qin Fen into the house.

Li Junping noted Qin Ru Hai’s indifferent attitude toward Qin Fen and couldn’t help but scold him, “Look at you! Can’t you show a bit more warmth to your son? He suffered three months in prison and has finally co back ho, yet you don’t have a single comforting word. Still showing a cold face, who are you trying to impress?”
“What? Has he done sothing ritorious by coming back from prison?” Qin Ru Hai spoke without looking up, “This child’s senselessness cos from following you! He’s already over twenty, and you still keep spoiling him. You’re only looking at how I treat your son, don’t you see how he treats ?”
“If it were up to , I wouldn’t give you a good face either,” Li Junping glared at Qin Ru Hai and frustrated, grabbed her apron and went to the kitchen to cook dumplings.
The yard quieted down.
Qin Ru Hai put the basket he had finished to one side and stood up to go into the store room, silently taking out a string of firecrackers.
He walked to the front door, lit a cigarette for himself, then hung up the firecrackers and took a few deep puffs.
He lit the firecracker fuse, and the firecrackers crackled and burst, scattering red debris on the ground.
He murmured softly, “Set off a string of firecrackers to ward off the bad luck.”
Li Junping was in the house cooking dumplings and hearing the firecrackers outside, her anger finally subsided a bit.
That’s more like it! At least the old man still cares about his son!

Song Yueqin laid out a clean set of clothes for Qin Fen, “Change into these clothes first! I will go out and burn these you wore in prison.”
“No need. These are my clothes, not prison garb, why burn them?” Qin Fen growled.
Song Yueqin quickly put down the clothes, crestfallen, “Don’t be angry, just let know how you’d like things done.”
Seeing Song Yueqin becoming much more submissive and docile, Qin Fen felt a little better.
He didn’t trouble Song Yueqin anymore, changed his clothes, and went straight to the kitchen.
Just then, Li Junping brought out steaming hot dumplings, “Co on, son, let’s get ready to eat!”
