Chapter 1436: Chapter 1256: The Aftershock Has Arrived
The rescue operation had started. The warriors used tools to pry, shovels to dig, and their bare hands to pull, exerting all their strength to save the lives trapped inside.
The old lady’s eyes were fixed on the scene, unblinking, and she hadn’t moved half a step.
From inside ca the occasional cries of children and the painful groans of a pregnant woman.
“Hold on! You must hold on!” the warriors shouted encouragent to the pregnant woman and children, “We are digging hard. We will soon clear the stones, and then we can rescue you.”

When the old lady saw Xiaoshan, she stood up excitedly and cried as she embraced her grandson, “My Xiaoshan, you have suffered!”

“Thank you, comrade of the PLA!” the old lady said tremblingly.
“No need to thank . It’s our duty. Xiaoshan, take good care of your grandma.” After Qin Jian spoke, he turned and joined the rescue activities at the ruins.
In that era, without advanced rescue equipnt, the warriors had to dig by hand.
After great efforts, they finally cleared a passage.
Under the passage, the pregnant woman’s leg was trapped, and she was curled up underneath. The child lay beside her, the top of his head badly hurt, blood flowing freely, and his consciousness beginning to blur.
“This passage is too narrow, and there isn’t enough space below. One person co down and help rescue them,” Qin Jian said.
“Commander, let us go down instead. You stay here and direct!” the warriors suggested.
“Can you handle it?”
“No problem.”
“Good. Be careful.” Qin Jian instructed the warriors again.
Two warriors went down, first rescuing the child. Qin Jian instructed them to evacuate the child and the elderly imdiately. He initially planned to send Xiaoshan away too, but he adamantly refused to leave.
Helplessly, Qin Jian allowed him to stay and continued to direct the rescue of the pregnant woman.
Her leg, pinned down by a huge rock, couldn’t move, and the two warriors who went down couldn’t budge it.
“Commander, two people can’t move the rock. What should we do?”
“Then let’s send one more down.” Qin Jian said. Since the child had been moved, a bit more space was available inside for an additional person.
However, even three people couldn’t lift the giant rock.
The rock was incredibly large. If they were to pry it, it would need many hands. It looked like the situation was far more troubleso than Qin Jian had anticipated.
Xiaoshan, hearing this, feared Qin Jian might give up and quickly pleaded, “Please, don’t give up on my wife! Don’t give up on her!”
“We won’t give up on her! But as you can see, we can’t achieve this with just a few of us. Go down the mountain with a warrior, find Commander He, and ask him to send more people to help. Tell him to report the situation to the division, and quickly allocate more rescue personnel,” Qin Jian said quickly.
Xiaoshan hesitated.
Qin Jian snapped, “Hurry down! The mountain here is unstable and could experience aftershocks at any mont! Every additional minute you are here is another minute of danger. Later, we’ll have to distract ourselves to take care of you!”
Just as Qin Jian finished speaking, he felt a tremor from underground, and rocks from the mountain above ca thundering down.
