"Lin Sheng, you’ve chatted with them so much?"
"Yeah. They’re good people. You know my dream has always been to join the army. One is a regintal commander, and the other is a battalion commander—both military officials. To have been able to et them in my lifeti... it just feels so worthwhile..." As Lin Sheng spoke, the light in his eyes faded.
For him, people like him were not ant to have dreams.
"I’m sorry, Lin Sheng..." Mu Mian said guiltily, looking at him, "It’s all my dad’s fault."
"And my dad’s too," Lin Sheng’s voice deepened, "But maybe, that’s just my fate."
The atmosphere grew heavy.

"I’ll go," Lin Sheng looked at her, "I’ll deliver the letter. Don’t worry. I’ll be careful and won’t cause you or Uncle Mu any trouble."
"Then..."
"Mianmian. Do you trust ?"
"I... trust you," Mu Mian said firmly.
"Then let deliver the letter. It’ll inform his family sooner about his situation. And it’ll help us get away as soon as possible." Lin Sheng held Mu Mian’s hand tightly as he spoke.
"Okay then," Mu Mian finally nodded in agreent.
She got up, took a piece of paper and a notebook from her bag hanging on the wall, and handed them to Lin Sheng: "Here. Go give it to them. Let them write the letter."

When Lin Sheng handed the paper and pen to Qin Jian, Qin Jian smiled, his lips stretching into a grin.
For days, his mood had not been this good.
"Regintal commander, write a letter for to Shuangshuang as well. Don’t let her worry about ," Tian Niu craned his neck eagerly, watching Qin Jian write, afraid he would only write to An Hao and not to Shuangshuang.
"Don’t worry. I won’t forget you," Qin Jian said with a smile.
Seeing the joy erge as the two soldiers wrote, Lin Sheng felt that he was doing sothing very aningful.
Qin Jian finished the letters, folded them neatly, and handed them to Lin Sheng: "Lin Sheng, I’m troubling you with this."
"It’s no trouble at all. I’ll make sure it gets delivered," Lin Sheng responded, "Right, could you please give the addresses? So I can find the place when I get there."
The Qin family quickly tore off a piece of paper and wrote down an address: "This is it. You just hand the envelope to the sentinel when you get there."
"Okay," Lin Sheng agreed, "Tomorrow is New Year’s Day. I’ll go first thing in the morning."
"Thank you so much," Qin Jian thanked him once more.
"Thank for what? It’s my honor to do sothing for you. Just wait for my news; I’ll make sure the letter gets there tomorrow," Lin Sheng promised, patting his chest.
