The old man insisted on going to a eting, which would last several days. She simply couldn’t manage everything on her own. Luckily, there were two guards helping out; otherwise, her two grandsons would have had to suffer alongside her.

"Mom, I was afraid you’d worry too much, and that’s why I..." An Hao saw that her mother-in-law had lost weight, and she felt both heartache and guilt. Perhaps she should have told her sooner that the one injured wasn’t Qin Jian.

"I’m worried about you. I already heard everything from Xiaoye. When I found out about your situation, I was scared to death. If anything happened to you, what would happen to the children? They’re so young, they can’t be without their mom!" Zhang Yun’s tears stread down uncontrollably. "Luckily, you’re all back now, and finally, my heart can rest easy!"

"Alright, stop crying! This was just an accident, and I promise it won’t ever happen again." Seeing the two most important won in his life in tears, Qin Jian walked forward and tightly embraced them both.

But after experiencing all this, Zhang Yun’s resolve solidified: "From now on, I absolutely won’t allow my two grandsons to beco soldiers. No matter what anyone says, it’s not up for debate! This kind of life is unbearable—everyone in the family being in the military, and only , an old lady, left to worry nonstop. It’s just not fair!"

"Alright, Mom, we’ll listen to you!" An Hao agreed. If one day her own sons went through sothing like this, she, as their mother, would be the first to break down.

Now, with the two won still emotional, Qin Jian decided not to argue with them. Whether or not their sons would join the military would ultimately depend on the boys themselves.

After days of everyone being on the edge emotionally, it was finally possible for the family to sit together for a peaceful al now that they were all safe.

After dinner, Zhang Yun and An Hao went upstairs to check on the children, while Qin Jian voluntarily took on the task of washing dishes.

By the ti Qin Jian finished washing up, the night had grown late. Zhang Yun went downstairs to rest, leaving only Qin Jian and An Hao, together with their two sleeping children.

An Hao was tidying up the bed when Qin Jian ca over and hugged her tightly from behind.

"What are you doing? Can’t you see I’m busy?" An Hao stopped what she was doing, laughing as she straightened her posture.

"You keep busy, I’ll keep hugging." Qin Jian rested his chin on her delicate shoulder, his warm breath gently brushing against her neck and shoulder.

"With you hugging like this, how am I supposed to tidy up?" An Hao turned around with a smile, gazing up at the much taller Qin Jian. "What’s the matter? Do you have sothing you want to say?"

"I feel like I almost lost you. Even now, just thinking about it makes break out in a cold sweat!" Rembering what happened that day, Qin Jian’s heart still raced with fear.

If he had arrived just a bit later, perhaps An Hao really would have confronted the drug dealer head-on, risking everything.

"I didn’t die, did I?" An Hao raised her hand to smooth out the wrinkles on Qin Jian’s furrowed brow. "They say great adversity brings great fortune, don’t they? Besides, I’m soone who’s already died once."

"Don’t say nonsense!" Qin Jian scolded her in a low voice. His magnetically deep tone carried both a hint of reprimand and an overflow of tenderness and doting.

"I’m not saying nonsense. I really have died once before." The heavens had shown rcy, giving her another chance at life—but not without hardship. How could it ever be easy? Happiness and suffering always went hand in hand.

If one hasn’t tasted the bitterness of pain, how can they truly savor the sweetness of happiness?

"Alright, fine. Let’s say you’ve died once. But promise —no matter what happens in the future, don’t ever give up your life so easily! No matter what you go through, as long as you survive and co back, you’ll always be my woman, An Hao!"
