“Gan Tian! Lin Miao!” Tian Niu called their nas accurately.
“Captain Tian, you still rember ?” Gan Tian’s face lit up with surprise and joy. “I was so afraid that after a few days, you might forget about !”
“Is my mory that bad?” Tian Niu chuckled, revealing two rows of bright white teeth. “What’s this? Why aren’t you resting at noon? What are you two doing here?”
“I…” Gan Tian’s gaze lingered on Tian Niu’s lips. She noticed that the wound there had already healed and scabbed over; it probably wouldn’t take more than two days to completely heal.
Lin Miao, seeing Gan Tian stamring and unable to get out a complete sentence, grew anxious for her. “Reporting, Captain! Comrade Gan Tian was worried about your wound, so she personally ca to bring you so dicine!”
“Oh.” Gan Tian lowered her head, her cheeks tinged with a faint blush. “But it looks like the Captain doesn’t need it anymore! The wound already seems much better.”
“That’s right. I’m fine now. You can keep the ointnt for yourself.” After finishing, Tian Niu added, “No other issues, right? If not, you two should head back and rest early!”
With that, he turned around and prepared to head back into the building.
“Oh, co on! You’re going to drive crazy!” Lin Miao, frustrated by Gan Tian’s reluctance despite having so much to say, gave her a swift kick that sent her stumbling forward.
“Ah!” Gan Tian took a few hurried steps forward, narrowly avoiding a fall.
The noise made Tian Niu stop and turn back. When he saw Gan Tian standing right behind him, head lowered and nervously twisting the corners of her uniform, he had a pretty good idea of what was going on. “Comrade Gan Tian, do you have sothing you want to say to ?”
“Uh-huh.” Gan Tian quickly nodded.
“Alright. I’m listening. Go ahead,” he said.
“Captain Tian, do you think you could take a walk with ?” Gan Tian asked hesitantly.
“Sure, let’s go.”
Seeing things starting to work out, Lin Miao quickly found an excuse to slip away.
Gan Tian and Tian Niu walked shoulder to shoulder out of the camp’s dormitory building to the courtyard outside.
It was noon, and the warriors were all resting, so it was quiet outside. Gan Tian kept her head lowered, a shy smile lingering on her lips. She led Tian Niu to an especially secluded pathway.
“There’s nothing here. Just say what you want to say directly,” Tian Niu said as he stopped walking.
“Captain, it’s really nothing major. I just wanted to thank you for saving ! And, I also want to apologize for accidentally cutting your lip,” Gan Tian said softly.
“I already told you. It’s no big deal! You don’t need to dwell on it. What’s all this about thanking and apologizing? Really, there’s no need!” Tian Niu waved his hand dismissively, as if to end the topic.
“But how is that okay?” Gan Tian’s hand quietly slipped into her pocket, clutching the movie tickets inside. After wrestling with herself internally a dozen tis, she finally gathered her courage, took the movie tickets out of her pocket, and held them out in front of Tian Niu with both hands. “Captain Tian, I want to invite you to a movie! Consider it both a way to thank you and to apologize to you.”
Tian Niu glanced down at the movie tickets Gan Tian held out to him, then shifted his gaze to the blush spreading across her cheeks. Scratching the back of his head awkwardly, he said, “I’ve already told you there’s no need to thank ! You don’t need to treat to a movie! If my wife finds out I went to the movies with another woman, who knows how angry she’ll get when I get ho!”
Gan Tian’s body stiffened slightly, and the expression on her face instantly turned unspeakably awkward and embarrassed. “I… I’m sorry, Captain! If… if that’s the case, then forget it. Goodbye, Captain!”
