Chapter 1846: Chapter 1845: Knock Out
Just a few steps away, she felt a sharp pain in her neck. She raised her hand to wipe, and under the moonlight saw the dark red liquid on her pale palm.
“So ruthless!” she cursed softly, took a handkerchief from her pocket to press on her wound, and quickly left the dead-end alley.
An Hao was awakened by the cold.
When she opened her eyes, she found herself lying alone on the cold ground, overhead the moonlight bright and sparse stars, silver-gray rays slanting down, just falling beside her.
She struggled to sit up, feeling as if she had just crawled out of an ice cellar, chilled from inside out.
A dull, throbbing pain from the back of her neck reminded her that she had been knocked unconscious with a karate chop.
“Careless.” An Hao rubbed her sore neck, stood up, and collected her scattered belongings from the ground. Despite being knocked out, this incident exposed a problem: that woman is indeed suspicious! She’s definitely not an ordinary person; her sharp instincts, her masterful use of counter-surveillance techniques, and the slick way she knocked An Hao out all clearly indicate she’s no ordinary person.
What exactly this person is up to, An Hao doesn’t know.
She could only guess randomly that she might have encountered a spy.
Perhaps that woman wasn’t really here to monitor her or target her specifically, but just to gather secrets.
Spies nowadays are extrely rampant; besides seeking military secrets, they want many other things…
They seem to be everywhere.
The National Security Bureau is overwheld, racking their brains every day trying to deal with these spies who secretly infiltrate from abroad.
But, catching them isn’t that easy.
They blend into crowds, today looking one way, tomorrow another, appearing no different from ordinary folks, yet they can move stealthily and remain undetected.
This isn’t sothing An Hao alone can achieve, and even the ideas she just had were rely her conjectures.
Fortunately, although An Hao was knocked unconscious, she was unhard.
The person didn’t do anything excessive to her and just let her go.
An Hao mocked herself for her good luck, collected her things, and hurried ho while it wasn’t too late.
Back at the military compound.
Zhang Yun had already rested with the two children. She heard movent in the living room and walked out of the bedroom in her pajamas: “Why are you only coming ho now?”
“Stayed a bit longer at Gu Shuangshuang’s place. Her mom and mother-in-law don’t get along, always arguing, I helped diate.” An Hao didn’t want her mother-in-law to worry about what happened today, so she made up a lie.
“That Gu Shuangshuang’s mom is not an easy person to get along with.” Zhang Yun, after eting her once, could make an accurate judgnt.
“They’ll get used to it eventually.” An Hao took off her jacket, rubbed her hands forcefully together to warm them before holding the children, “Mom, are the kids asleep? I’ll put them to bed soon.”
Zhang Yun waved her hand: “No need. You go rest; I’ll look after the kids!”
The kids have grown up, making them much easier to care for, especially since they’re no longer breastfeeding at night, hardly wetting themselves, sleeping through the night.
“Mom, thanks for taking care of them.”
“We’re family, so no need to be polite. Go now.”
An Hao returned to her upstairs room, changed into her pajamas, and when she went to wash in the bathroom, she accidentally noticed traces of blood in the crevices of her fingers.
