Screech—

A sharp, piercing sound nearly tore through the sky; the lead car in the convoy, a Land Rover, almost collided with Song Dabai.

And between the car and Song Dabai, there was barely the distance of one person.

At the sa ti, Daming and Wei Zai also arrived. Because the Land Rover had its high beams on, they had to raise their hands to block the bright light in front of them.

In front of the car, Song Dabai saw the Land Rover nearing him and instinctively closed his eyes.

But the expected impact didn’t happen, and he slowly opened his eyes.

The passenger door of the Land Rover opened, and a tall man stepped out of the car.

Song Dabai couldn’t see the person clearly; he only knew that he must seize this only chance to save himself!

"Help , sir..." However, before he could finish, his small body was scooped up by the man.

Looking closely, his gaze froze.

The man standing before him was tall and handso, like a valiant hero from a cartoon, tightly holding Song Dabai in his arms.

Was he dreaming?

The tall man who just jumped out of the Land Rover was his daddy!

Song Dabai rubbed his eyes, thrilled yet surprised, then suddenly puckered his little lips with a hint of grievance.

"Daddy, why did you co to rescue only now? If you didn’t co, I would’ve been sold off by that bad uncle, boohoohoo..."

Indeed, he was a child; upon seeing his trustworthy daddy, all his tense nerves instantly relaxed.

"Don’t be afraid, Daddy is here to save you." Lu Jihan’s voice was gentle and low, like comfort yet sowhat deep.

He carefully held Song Dabai, feeling the sticky and grimy texture on his body, and lowered his eyes to see him covered in mud.

"Did you fall?"

"Yes."

Song Dabai nodded, pointing to the nearby trench, said, "I fell into that ditch while running away."

Upon hearing this, Lu Jihan’s face turned ashen.

Song Dabai was still dazed, stuck in a state of shock, his chubby little hands tightly gripping Lu Jihan’s neck.

Behind them ca the sounds of Daming’s pursuing footsteps; he angrily shouted, "Who are you? Put my son down!"

His son?

Lu Jihan’s expression turned even darker upon hearing this.

Song Dabai’s face showed disdain, like a small plump octopus clinging onto Lu Jihan’s shoulder, he retorted back at Daming:

"You liar! You’re not my daddy, he is my daddy!"

The little fellow was terrified, yet at this mont his voice was clear, without a hint of ambiguity.

Daming and Wei Zai, who had been chasing after them, almost imdiately turned into statues, completely frozen.

Wait a minute, what did this kid just call that man? Daddy?!

Isn’t his daddy... Lu Jihan?!

Daming and Wei Zai exchanged bewildered glances, both utterly confused.

Before they could react, Song Dabai pointed at them again, complaining to Lu Jihan: "Daddy, those two bullied , go hit them!"

Knowing that he no longer needed to be afraid, Song Dabai spoke confidently.

Lu Jihan couldn’t hold back his anger anymore, looking at his precious son, seeing how he had been mistreated.

He put Song Dabai down, ruffled his hair gently, and said softly: "Stay with the police officer, I’ll deal with them for you."
